Canceled Dungeons & Dragons UPDATE

Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.
I haven't found rips for Arabian Magic for sure.  We do have some Dungeon Magic stuff in the game:)

Always looking for sprites that will fit the style though, thanks for the tips!

Ned, this title screen is just for title.  We have a different screen for titleB where the menu text fits.

Okay guys 2 new videos,

Random Encounters
http://youtu.be/IPBF7es4kIQ

Yep, one of common RPG games feature is here in this mod :). Since it's random, Dimsdale had to wander around Vesve Forest to get some.
I have to emphasize that it is really random not just location of encounter but also what enemies players will meet. Even if players meet goblins again, it is more likely they'll meet different set of goblins. Maybe I should say it's random random encounter.
And at end of video, Dimsdale took a rest at Grabford Inn to recover his HP.

Hippodrome Arena

Another feature I've been working on recently, some RPG games have colloseum or arena in it and this mod has one too.
Just like in those games, there would be various contestants in arena to defeat. And there would be reward after all of them are defeated.
Beginner tier is almost complete while other tiers need more contestants.
Although it looks like regular level there are couple rules here:
1. No item use
2. No NPC summon
3. One life only (IOW one death and you're out!)
4. HP and MP are refilled after each fight

You can see rule #3 in video

Both videos show new lifebar

The random encounters are grouped by terrain (if you're passing through the forest you'll fight on forest levels, through hills you'll fight on hill levels etc) and they are more frequent in enemy controlled territory, and less frequent in the civilized (good kingdom) lands.  Also the types of creatures near the castle of the evil bad guy are more powerful types (like demons etc).

That's why a skull appears when random encounter is close. If you touch it, you'll enter random encounter but if you walk away, you can avoid it.

Also, after clearing random encounter, there's a brief delay before next 'skulls' appear giving time for players to travel to nearby town or a quest marker (if that's the goal going to world map).

Last but not least, you can see there's arrow on rightside in each random encounter. It allows players to leave if they don't want to fight. Of course, you'll lose gold by doing this :)

Do you mean players reduce their gold, or they don't gain any (from defeating the monsters)?

Nice video, guys! This makes this mod more unique.

But something bothers me: look at the 0:42, that frontal kick have some wierd action. The play should have some velocity only when his legs extends, not right from the start. Plus, he needs a friction (something ausent in almost every BOR mod), to make him slow down when the move is about to finish.

I am so jealous right now. How did you do that?! :o

You don't gain any.  There's no penalty for running away from random encounters.  But they are a quick way to make some extra gold if you're short and saving up to buy something cool in one of the shops.

Absolutely unique on the two videos, Bloodbane! Especially that Battle Arena. It would be pretty cool if there would be that feature for fighting games. I mean, for example, you choose a fighting character in select screen. After choosing one, the ones that are not selected can be NPC's like shown. Sorry if I did suggest as it looks like it's complicated to script. It's just about my idea. I like your work on both videos thoug, Bloodbane. ;)

So, just like every RPG game.
Me likeys it! A lot! :D  ;D  :-*

Nice to see more of this mod!!! those systems looks great!!!

about the music, is it final? I like Two Steps from Hell, but -in my opinion- for 16-32 bit graphic style, I would prefer to hear more "game music", like, the arcade D&D music perhaps... That was the only thing I didn't like from Pierwolf's Endless Quest. I think that music fits better with games similar to God of War.
just my opinion...  :)
