Here are some wakuwaku sequel designs which probably werent even translated to pixels but its cool to see them and all new characters, this game is for me better with age because now i see how fantastic designs were for its time and its too bad we didnt get sequel made.

I love those screens, this kind of sketches are the best 'cause it's the best way to understand how someone is really drawing. Final Illustration, colored and fully ink cleaned etc are of course very cool too but you get a better idea of artist's style with a rough.
Thanks !

I took inspiration for my mod from things like that.

I swear, I was shocked to know that Tecmo had canceled a Ninja Gaiden for Neo Geo.

hard times with charles bronson from 1975, its with mafia undertones and fighting for money in a town by the sea hence the stage, i found it weird for them to use this kind of stage for ken as USA background but now it clears up, it totally does not fit but its a part of history now and the coats people have, they definitely did not dress like that in the 80s anymore.

Fascinating interview:

They had to chop up the sprites themselves on paper first before drawing pixel art

That part is pretty surprising. I always assumed they drew the sprites whole and then used automated tools to break them down into tiles. Contrary to the belief of people born five minutes ago, "tech" is not a new thing. By the mid 80's there were image editors and memory mappers that would handle this kind of stuff no problem - assuming you could pony up the bucks to get them. Crazy to think they did all this work by hand.
