How often do you play multiplayer in OpenBOR?

Do you use OpenBOR's multiplayer mode?

So I'm curious. OpenBOR's 4-player mode is one of my favorite features, and I always make my mods compatible with it. But how many of you actually play with someone other than yourself? How often, or with how many players?

Because of the nature of the engine (relatively obscure/not at all mainstream), I'd imagine that most people play alone. Do you?

That's a great question.  I usually play solo.  I was all excited to play on a TV with friends using the OUYA, but sadly OpenBOR doesn't seem to work with 2 players on Android - at least I couldn't figure out how to map any controls to a 2nd pad.
If that feature worked, that would be a literal game changer for me.
As it is, I either play at my PC, or portable on the JXD Android player and either one is solo only.
Never tried it on the Wii or any other platform.
The D&D mod I'm doing with Bloodbane is for 1-2 players, but I could see how it would be really fun with 4.  After we release it, maybe someday someone will do a 4 player edit;)

We really need to fix that. Doing so, and publishing it to the Ouya store (or at least spreading the word) would lead to an explosion in our userbase count.

It's too bad I have no idea about anything related to engine code. I'm just a lowly modder. :/

there was the time when my couch are full of young versions of my friends and we spend all day beating games together and complaining why all games are only 2 players instead of 4 players at that time

now im old and my friends too, and sometimes we still play together but is every year more rare, sometimes we spend drinking and playing board games just to not make their wives out of the fun

sometimes i think if i want my multiplayer sections more often i think i need to start to think to create some children

It becomes a pain to fit all that info on screen with 4 players.  Something like a TMNT mod thou, no one is going to let you make it 2player only, even if no one ever plays 4 players, people will expect it as a feature.  I've been thinking for some mods, it would be fun to add NPC helper's instead of the extra players in one player mode.  So you can choose an ally to play with, or something along these lines.

Edit:
It sucks most modern games are built for one player and ONE PERSON in mind.  Not just the gameplay, but the whole stupid 'Profile' crap they use on consoles (and many PC games now) prevent anyone else starting a new game.

My bro and friend used to play NBA game online, xbox shut the online service down so they were forced to buy the latest game.  The 'latest' NBA game doesn't even have 2 players online anymore.  Trying to make people all buy their own console and copy of a game just to play 2 players on a console that supports 4!! fucking joypads.

A lot when theres kids at home, and i know its a bit of additional work to make the mod 4 players compatible but i think its worth it.
Anyway i dont think you will get any answer besides number 2, its normal that if theres more people in the house you want to play the game with them, when youre alone why would you play 4 players mode.

I only ever play alone - don't know anyone to join in. As far as making modules go, all of my projects support three players. Two isn't enough and four clogs the screen too much for my taste.

Basically, this is it. For me too.

I'm not a crazy for online games, but just imagine a stable version of Openbor playable online.
Playing with all guys from the community and new commers... Would be great! :D

Also, it can be a very nice way to share ideas, concepts and progress in beta testing... by playing beta versions together... ::)
