Art OpenBOR New Logo ideas and discussion

The thread is some time of visual artwork like sketch, painting, or sprite work.
I've seen quite a few OpenBOR logo variations, and most of them (not to undermine the effort of the hard-working creators who made them) seem dated these days in some way.
So I've decided to start up a discussion thread for ideas as to what a new updated logo could look like.

Starting with the one I made:

OpenBOR logo.png

Not even close to my best, not at all, but that's kind of intended.
The idea was to make something flat and sticker-friendly, while also looking good on it's own as a representation of the engine.

Made using entirely free assets in Inkscape. Font used is Open Sans.

If any of you have any of your own ideas, this may just be the ideal place to talk about it. Or even share your own.

Re-banned. Shared accounts (bugmenot, etc.) are blocked on sight. Come back with a real account.

Funny enough,
I made a suggestion for a new logo for the engine yesterday, I'm waiting for the devs' opinion on this (have you seen it, @DCurrent ? ).
If they are ok with it, I can post it publicly.

But my idea was to radically change the logo. We have a new version of the engine, with a new positioning, so I thought it was time for a change.

The only thing I tried to use from the old logo was part of the colors. For the rest, I thought of something that was more modern, that was easily applicable to any size, etc.

I saw. Just been out snow hiking today so I can't really review and respond in detail yet.

what is the story behind the the logo we are used to?

it certainly makes you analize it for a bit, at first i thoug it was 2 dragon heads, then relized is a blue dragon exhaling fire, the head itself is made of blue fire, some mountains behind and the sun that seems inspired by the japanese flags of old.

it is a good logo, but it clashes as introduction for certain genre or themes of some games....

No story really. Was designed by a then long time community member "Fightn' Words". Kind of an ironic name, considering he was one of the nicest guys you'd ever talk to. Unfortunately he disappeared without a trace around 2012.

Hello, I used to be the first (and probably only) CommunityPoster55 user.

The one who made the ChronoCrash logo, the one who suggested the RetroArch integration, who found the couple of errors and the one who suggested the new Logo on this thread.

Decided to finally step away from the throwaway account since i'm going to be more frequent here probably anyway.

Hey Chrono Crash shortcut are different today?

I would also suggest using it as the tiny icon you see in the browser tab.
The Discourse placeholder is still driving me a bit left and right.

I'm interested to see it
*oot
just remembered I made an openbor cover for my genesis mini

Which brings me to the reason I want to revive this thread.

You should post that to SteamGridDB in the Beats of Rage page:

Probably needs a separate thread suggesting covers and heroes, but that looks good enough to be included, and preserved somewhere where it can be used more frequently by everybody.
