Regarding the Sprites, you might have to Rip some from a good quality video or re-draw them yourself from a good screen cap of the original game.
Mame has the sprite viewer thing , but it does not show some of them - Nightslashers has 2 or 3 missing from the backgrounds & i had to use a youtube video to re-construct a good portion of a ship segment.
there is hacking tools that help (de-complie?) ROMs , but the resulting sprite rips usually come out tiled & very difficult to figure out
i'm crossing my fingers here that you dot run into the same problem

I’m going to tinker little more with the pallets.
So far with the debug menu i was able to capture the scientist that appeared in a bonus level. Sucks that I’m trying to find the Mame version that.
Can you show me which Night Slasher section are you missing.
Also did you try paxplode Night Slasher X?

Started ripping Pinocchio from Night Slasher for my amusement park stage.
For the purpose of more parallax, the clouds from stage 1 of Undercover Cops are being separated. I also have ripped those teenagers from Guardians.

The sprites were created specifically for a fan RPG. I doubt they have walking frames. From what I read in the comments I think the artist created some attack frames.
I suggest PM'ing him/her on deviantart. I don't think he/she wants to share base on the comments. But you can try.

It seems that there is a beats of rage mod that features the missing background /foreground sprites, but i have had no time to hunt it down & see how to get them out of it .
Im trying to do Hong HUa , but im not happy with what i have so far. I stink at making characters currently.
I hope you can do the Pinocchio if not close , better than the OG, so we can put it on the next NS update.

Based on the enemies that were ripped from Night Slasher, I calculate Pinocchio will take some time due to cleaning sprites from the background. Walking animation will probably take the most time to animate correctly. But I’m fine. I’m taking my time. Pinocchio looks creepy. If someone wants to add him to Night Slasher X, that great.
He’ll make a great addition to the Sailormoon universe.

Can anyone decribe their method from separating the sprite from the background?
My method involves the following:
• screen shot via F12
• open image in image ready and export to photoshop
• change image to indexed to flatten layers
• manipulate each color palette one by one to removes the background from the sprite.
¥ if anymore more work is needed, I will remove colors via Microsoft paint.
Once I have a clean image, I some times add it to the background I’m removing so that it has a similar sprite.
Example: I have a clean idle sprite of Pinocchio. I then add that idle sprite to a screen shot I captured. In this case a jump animation. Finally when I separate the colors I double check if the sprite is affected by looking at both.

Not sure if you're interested but there's actually a Jamanen (one of the MOTDs in R) sprite available done for this style when I was searching for sprites years ago. Its available in one of the Sailormoon beat em up ryona/hentai. Not even sure who created it.

But for now, I’m happy that Banpresto/Data East/Irem has a great amount of resources.
Just having Jinrei and in the future Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, Sailor V, and Sailor Neptune available is great.
