Overlapping the HUD?

Hey all. I made some in-level cutscenes that are basically text entities. The problem is, regardless of what value I use with setlayer, the text entities are always under the HUD. This is a huge problem, as the cutscene is entirely unreadable thanks to enemy/player lifebars, and thus useless. Any way around this that doesn't include moving the HUD around?  :o
 
You were right.

After some screwing around, setlayer 999999999
completely overlaps the HUD; icons, names, score, lifebars, everything. I just hope that ludicrous value doesn't make the engine crash on the console ports...
