platform game, player moves/flies across the screen up and down (with z axis = x and y)

Hi guys,
to create a platform game, is there a script that allows the player to move/fly across the screen (up and down) despite having the z-axis of the same value as x and y?

Normally, you'd need to make player unaffected by gravity then use script to move player vertically, horizontally or both.
I've made couple 2D games with such ability. You can try Eerie Erratic Expedition or Fruits Frenzy if you want to see what I'mtalking about
