Recover deleted files?

Hi guys it’s been a while.
I have a BIG problem, I can’t find the two mods I was working on, it seems somehow I deleted them, so the question is

It’s possible to rescue deleted files from my laptop hard drive ?

I really don’t want to spend months again working on stuff. I know I should have backed up, I had some old backup but still since then I had lot of stuff done and now lost.

Thanks.

So sorry @Die_In_Fire, that really sucks.

If you already cleared them from the recycling bin, they're most likely burnt toast.

There are apps that can try to recover files, but it's spotty at best. You can also send them off to recovery companies but that's very expensive and even then you never know for sure.

Stop using the device, do not browse the web, nothing,

next thing you have to do is remove the drive and use another machine to try and recover the files.

Recuva does an OK job sometimes, another program i have used to recover files is
MiniTool_Power_Data_Recovery_11.3
STOP USING THE MACHINE

if you have no choice boot the machine using a Hiren's boot cd or USB but you have to create it using another computer
also there are portable versions of those 2 programs i mentioned... and they can run after you boot the machine with those emergency devices

another thing

i re-read your post , if the deletion was a long time ago, your computer might have written over the files and there no chance of recovery,

i do recommend you use agent ransack to search for the files tho, windows 7 win 8 win10 and weven win 11 search stinks ...

Thanks for the answers guys.
The deletion must have happened during the last 3 months.
The folder was directly on desktop (the path is written and highlighted on the screenshot attached).

I cannot remove the hard disk, but I think I’ll try to download some of those programs Oldyz mentioned and give it a try.

If the deletion happen 3 month ago, you will surely lost stuff and your computer already overwrite information on that space and it's gone forever

You can try some of that tools to recover part of your work, but I highly doubt you will be able to recover everything - I've been there already sadly.

I highly suggest you (and everyone else) to use some cloud backup while working on you game, so you won't lose files. I use Dropbox, which has some free plans but paid plans too, which let me recover deleted files, has a history version of everything and many other cool options.

If you my referral link, they give you an extra 500mb for free (and I receive it too)

You won't regret, trust me - I've made many mistakes and lost many files while working on my game and if I wasn't using a cloud backup I would lost stuff forever.

@Die_In_Fire
it has been a while since i used these programs , and i cant remeber which has the ablility to inform you where the deleted file was from.
I remeber i did a scan with recuva, recovered stuff to a usb drive, and then did a deep scan with minitool and recovered stuff to an external usb

i do remember that after the lenghty scan with one of them, i was able to arrange the files according to the former containing folder, be aware it takes a while and the program might seem frozen

MiniTool_Power_Data_Recovery - i used a Business Technician Portable version, that has an option to change the languages to english, but in order to do so, i had to familiarize myself with the UI from the english demo first. - after that i found the menu and changed the languaje

Also, using the Demo and running a deep scan will reveal the stuff that can be recovered, but it has a limit fo 500mb or so...
the programs even tell you how some files have good recovery "health" indicated by colors - green good, red bad

another pain in the butt is that recovered files will have to be manually restored by you manually into the original folder structure....

there are versions of Hirens, one version is winXP, the newer versions are win10 based, you will need to figure out how to boot your machine using usb or from the cd drive.

another important thing is that any information you might be able to recover, you need to make sure those files go into another drive, never write recovered stuff in the drive you are analizing

last , if your drive is mechanical, there is some slight chance that you may recover some files, especialy if you have not done any de-fragmenting,
if its sdd or usb/flash memory... the stuff is less likely to be there after 3 months

I have Dropbox in my laptop, but the problem is that u don’t have wifi at home. I rarely connect the laptop to the internet.
