Hey all, i've been a fan of openbor since 2010. .and i must say to all those involved in the community 'WOW!!!'. You guys have made the most awesome 2D engine ever, from those small mods to the ones that are something else altogether. After seeing what could be done with the engine i started a mod i dreamed of ever since playing beat em ups. .a resident evil game based on the final fight scene. Firstly i'd like to thank Mr Q, for his hyper final fight series. .Bonus JayZ, for his Nightslashers X game. .BWWD, for his battletoads mod. I'm using the main characters, backgrounds, music and sounds from final fight, some enemies, backgrounds, music and sounds from nightslashersx, and battletoads as a base for my mod ( i was not able to ask for permission as i never could register at lavalit. .consider this as 1 please guys). Once again i must say 4 'Respect!. .all you guys are doin a great job at keeping beat em ups alive n kick'n

Oh yeah, im also using sprites from Harlem Heros 'Crisis evil', once again i hope he doesn't mind as i never could get into contact with him. Although i've reworked alot of the sprites i've taken from other mods, added more moves n weapons etc. .i still like to give credit where its due (who said there aint honour among thieves;))
 
When I first looked at the topic, I thought it was a new Resident Evil videogame, but when I looked at the attachment, somehow I see Final Fight characters shooting and fighting zombies. Are you going to use some characters from Resident Evil or are you going to retain the Final Fight chars as playables as seen in the attachment? If you are going to retain the FF chars in that project, I'm thinking of the name of the project would be Final Fight X Resident Evil. Otherwise, I let you or anyone name it. If you are going to use Resident Evil chars (edits or whatever), maybe we could leave that name. So far, the project looks good. ;)

Thanks guys, it's a WIP. .so there's alot more to come. The title is as is Maxman because my storyline is such. .it takes place after the racoon city incident (but thanks for the input). Following the military nuclear bombing of racoon city in which the virus was to be 'contained', it instead spreads to other citys as we all know. (As Capcom made Final Fight and resident evil, its fitting that the storys intertwine), the virus spreads to Metro city. Step in special crimes unit officer Lucia and and (recently enlisted) officer Dean. .the two protagonists u start the story of with. As one progresses through the game you will rescue and unlock other characters, 5 unlockables so far (all from the Capcom universe ;)). .they will fight alongside you as NPC's then you can select them. NB *The game has multiple paths, your choices affect the outcome. .not everyone is what they seem*. You gonna dig this one Nedflanders for sure

Good, make some gameplay vids.When i was making battletoads then i was watching many zombie films for inspiration.
It was looooong time ago, time is running out so fast makes me want to cry when i think about it. :'(
 
@BwwD Lol, time does fly huh. .gotta fly to catch it. I also watch alotta zombie movies, Resident Evil being my all time favourite. .those are what zombies are supposed to be. I'll upload some gameplay vids but its jus that i dont know how, what program should i use to make/take the vid?

@Nedflandeures heres the basic gameplay and button input so far:

All characters have various combos/freespecials based on punch and kick seperately, ie punch combos and kick combos. .and u can mix them up if you really hyped for some zombie bashing lol!
Guy obviously has the most combos being a martial artist and that in his 'discipline/path' he doesnt believe in the use of guns. .(hey to each his own, respect and all lol)

All weapons can be found througout the game (it being a zombie breakout, theres lotsa usefull stuff thrown around), the two cops Dean and Lucia are the most proficient at gun usage thus only Dean can use machinegun and Lucia the shotgun. .Cody is a real 'headbuster' with the pipe lol and Guy slices and dices with the samurai sword.

*You can still punch and kick with all weapons, thereby conserving ammo ;). .tho with bulky weapons your combos/freespecials will be reduced. .(take care in use of flamethrower). All weapons still have the breakout/get of me move,with some wepons making it even more powerfull.

Each character has unique attributes/abilites and fighting style, Guy for example is a master of the martial arts, Cody has alot of street smarts ;). .Dean is more of the strong hitter while Lucia is fast and is much more flexible in her moves.

Special weapons like the flamethrower and eletro-baton will only be found in secret places/stages, i dont want to make it to easy. All projectile weapons have a ammo value shown and one can pick up more ammo, the handguns and guys shuriken are using the 'mp/blue' bar as ammo status, it will fill up gradualy over time. .NB you will always have these weapons available. .they wont ever be lost!

*There is an ability in all characters to store/keep weapons that they dont even use, eg Guy will keep Lucias shotgun (hidden away) for her until she needs it in a stage. .below health and ammo bar is the weapon status which will then show you are keeping the specific weapon not meant for you(a weapon you cant/wont use).

* Also there is the abilty to 'swap' weapons, which is a first in beat em ups i think. By pressing Up Down Punch next to your partner, thay will give you what weapon they have. Trust me when the undead are crawling up your ass, you gonna be stashing all the weapons you can find.

Okay i'll keep you guys posted as i go along, im abit of a perfectionist (obsessive lol) soo please bare with me. .
 
im using virtualdub to record but i couldnt my new game cause its 640x480 and it drops frames a bit so i used my cellphone to film laptop screen, it was faster this way.When recording using software on cpu then use mjpeg codec.
 
My apologies for not keeping up to date on the mod, I only work on it in my spare time of which there isn't much at all. Everytime I sit down with it I learn something new so I have to go back and change/improve what I did before.

Thanks Bloodbane, lol been a loooong while I know..I was caught up in real life issues (aint nothin but drama). Glad to see the community has grown so much. Lotsa awesome mods have been released n even more in progress :D
