I'm a big fan of this game (and in general everything related to NeoGeo). Thanks a lot for your effort and posting some guidelines on how to achieve this translation. I've always wanted to translate it myself but until now I had no clue where to start from
I remember there was a patch to translate the original iso from japanese to french. I was wondering if it would be a simpler option to somehow extract the "already translated" part from the patch and take it from there.
If I can support in any way translating from Japanese to English and Spanish (or even from French), feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to help

OK I am making a tool to extract each Japanese character as a image with its hexadecimal value as its filename. What I need you to do is make a table file with each characters hex value and the Japanese character. I am guessing there is a lot of kanji as there is 1000+ characters, this is a difficulty task but it will make the translation much easier. making the table file is no easy task and one mistake will break the whole translation . . . . do you @samurai2005 accept this task ?

Here is a download for the Japanese characters: jap characters
They are saved with first a decimal number to help order them then a hex number like this "0002-212c.png" you now need to identify the Japanese character and make a text file then type the hex number followed by the character like this: "212C=あ" then a new line for the next one. Try to work in order it will make it easier for you good luck there are 1792 characters.

I started a quick sample. Could you please check if the format is good enough (hopefully the encoding is ok?)
Then I noticed the last few characters are not perfectly "cut", showing part of the "next" character in the image.
Silly question, but I prefer to make sure before I start:
I assume I must write the single kanji (the one that is fully visible)- or include both?
2827=魔
2828=団
vs
2827=魔団
here's another example of weird cut (2 images for 3 characters):
2223=ィ (includes ィ and part of タ)
2224=タコ (includes part of タ and コ)

Well if you look at the sprite i posted for the french translation some special moves are spread over 2 or 3 tiles in smaller text.
All hex values should reference 1 character but you can type 2 or more no problem. So if 3 characters are spread over 2 tiles add the first 2 for the first tile and 1 for the second one as in the game they should always be next to each other.

Good no rush remember the accuracy of this table is vital as it will allow me to extract the text is the original Japanese format for you to translate.
@samurai2005 looks like a talented translator is picking this translation up again do you still wish to continue ?

Be careful guys. That's Deuce from the original project almost 10 years ago. He may have mellowed out now, but at one point went completely off the rails. Even posted indecent photos of himself on Neo-Geo.com. You don't want yourself associated with any of that sort of business.
