Beta names

South american names for the heroes from SOR1 were Axel Hawk, Adam Wolf and Blaze(just like Cher no other name).
Why no Blaze "fox"? would be cool.  ;) ;) ;)

Wait, so there's actually carts out there with the names Hawk and Wolf on them? I didn't know! the (not) Blaze character is named Phoenix.

While I'm here I guess I should leave a little update. Haven't been feeling up to making too long of a post lately due to (as usual) some rl issues going on, however the project is going swimmingly especially thanks to Maxman for showing me some scripting tricks. I'm absolutely amazed by some of the stuff I pulled off so far, the biggest hurdle at this moment is putting together the vaulting and backgrab system. Other than that the usual slow down lies with getting the graphics in order and tidying up things with fighting system.

I did a testing stream where I showed a little bit of what I've been doing. have a look!

This looks great lets hope sega doenst mess with this.. There was a really good streets of rage fan game a long time ago I forgot the name but it was where you could play all three games and had more characters and character customization but sega canned it :(

I don't think SEGA will make any more slip-ups like that.

After they realized they can't stop Streisand Effect, and how fangames tend to be focused on keeping the essence of what made the original works powerhouses on their time, I don't think they would be jumping on people's throats.

Unless, of course, any fangame dev would try to... you know, have some profit with it.

To be frank, so much of this project will be different enough to be it's own thing with obvious influence from the SoR series and other SEGA brawlers like Yakuza, Spike Out, Dynamite Deka etc but by the same token I wouldn't mind making this an official SoR game either. The idea behind project neo is to build on what SoR left behind whether that means making it a legit sequel or a spiritual follow up and tribute to a franchise that I have the utmost love for. Hawk is probably the closest to being obviously influenced by the original characters, with Phoenix being a close second given Axel and Blaze are very iconic despite being part of the standard tropes. The rest of the cast will be familiar enough for veterans to pick up on older tricks but in visual design and expanded moves list will feel like new characters.

???  :-\  :o
Sega would take action, just as they did with the site / forum that produced the Street of Rage Remake ... just look on the internet to find out more. If they had not done so, we would still have "official" versions and updates of SorR, and that would be awesome.  :-\ >:(

I think someone needs to seriously clear this up already. Bombergames was done with remake when v5 released, outside of bugfixes and some changes you weren't going to get much else.

Streets of Rage Remake
> Uses content from the original trilogy
> uses the Streets of Rage name and IP
> started without SEGA's go ahead
> Came out at a time where SEGA was weird with it's fanbase (remember the shining force youtube fiasco?)
> while the donations were specifically for the site I'm sure it didn't help their case

SEGA
> Could've canned the project before version 4, didn't
> Could've canned the project after Version 4 when it was getting press, didn't
> Could've canned it during the few years version 5 was being developed didn't
> Could've canned it the very next day after it released, waited A WEEK.

Can we cut the crap already? Remake was situational and this isn't remake, sorry if I come off as harsh but I'm sick of hearing about SEGA and SoRR from people who weren't even around when the situation happened 6 years ago, get over it. There have been plenty of spiritual follow ups to the SoR series one of which is on the market right now called The Take Over and another in the works that I have been beta testing for called Plan Brawl. SEGA is not the same company it was years ago, and the industry certainly isn't the same.

I had one in a six pack with sonic 1, golden axe 1 road rash 1 and others...So cool Hawk and Wolf!!!!

Wassup? I've almost perfected the vault system which along with animations getting done was taking up most of the time working now it's time for tidying up and fixing loose ends before putting together stage in full.

Let's have a look at the our first character, an awesome fusion of many brawler characters making him easy to pick up and play but hard to master.

happy birthday Mr. Din! Can't wait for this game to be complete.
Thanks guys, july was pretty crazy especially around my birthday.

Just an Update, I'm still alive. I've taken a break from project neo for a bit to get back to work on my original project. Honestly I'd suggest to anyone working on a robust combat system avoid the vaulting/side switching mechanic with grapples like the plague. Seriously it's not worth the trouble, it's useless when you have more than one attack button and there are better ways to allow the character to grab from behind including various different cross ups. I literally only bother with it because it's a staple in SoR styled system...

Axel/Hawk other than the vaulting system is pretty much done, his combos work fluently, haven't really run into any issues outside of the above mentioned so when I get back to it he'll be ready to go.

but that being said I have decided to take a bit of a break. I wanted to get a beta done but that one particular part of the game is absolutely draining and I just need to do something else to recharge. As I posted a while back in this topic I'm working on an all original concept called Deadly Metropolis. It's coming along pretty nicely so far, I started all over and pushed to do something better with the engine and with some time I'll have something to show soon.

I have a go fund me open for the project if anyone wants to show some support. the rewards are basically commissions I want to do in return so if you have an OC you want to see (within reason of course) appear in the project or just want to show some support, drop by and have a look!

Needed some time to post this one. Fix the vaulting issue now onward to the long haul that is enemy placement.
