Wii U Pro controller isn't responding in-game on OpenBOR 4.0 (vWii)

So basically what the title says but more descriptively I'm able to navigate to the game I want using the Wii U Pro Controller, the only issue now being that once I am in a game, the controller doesn't respond for a while. It eventually does, but I almost never understood how I was able to do it nor am I sure how to replicate it, and it's totally frustrating. Anyone know why this is the case?

Interestingly enough I try instead to connect with a wii remote/nunchuck and that works instantly, but the pro controller is still thinking it's player 1. the buttons still arent responding, but anytime I get hits in-game with the wii remote, the pro controller's rumble still operates.

As with all your previous questions on the Wii, it really just isn't a priority. From my point of view, just a port someone else made that I know nothing about, don't maintain, and couldn't fix if I wanted to.

Not saying all that to shut you down - just tempering expectations. I'm tagging @Plombo, the main contributor to that port. However, he's super busy and hasn't been a regularly participating member for several years, so I don't know if he'll answer.
