Xbox One

I've been expecting the third version of XBOX to be called the 'XBOX ONE' since before the original XBOX came out.

I remember reading or hearing the original goal of Microsoft with the very first XBOX (before it was even released) was to create it as a Trojan horse.  The idea was you start it's life as a gaming console, slowly add functionality for non gaming users.  So eventually people(mainly parents) get used to the console being a part of their homes.  Eventually it starts becoming used as the main DVD player in the home.

By the second version increase support for TV, online shopping etc.  Increase demand to the average NON-GAMER audience.  More user friendly approach, more focus on targeting younger children, moms/housewives and even dads.  More support for non gaming activities,  xbox stays connected online at most times.  Xbox is slowly replacing/reducing the need for a PC.

By the third installment of the console they said this would be the true model, the 'Version 1 XBOX'
A true realization of their goals, if mission complete -  most homes should now have an xbox permanently connected to their TV and internet.

Now by this time they expected a good percent of population should now have one in their homes, moms and dads and kids alike spending cash and using it for everyday needs. Xbox one always connected online, full digital television service, online shopping etc.

Thou I'd guess they didn't plan for several things over the years that have become big competition
eg. - Nintendo Wii, iPhones, iPads, android devices, Apple mac popularity increase -  etc.

So basically gamer's have never been Microsoft's ideal audience, the merely targeting gaming and gamers as a means to try to gain monopoly over the industry, buy out small developers, control what the audience 'thinks they want to see' until they see fit to launch a new era of 'home console entertainment' unto the world.  It's all just another case of this 'Microsoft-monopoly' that has been going on for over a decade now.

M$ hates games, it hates gamer's, it always has. - just sayin' ;)

I liked the original xbox, there were some games I enjoyed, thou they would of been released on PC if it wasn't for Microsoft forcing developers to be exclusive to xbox.  Again an attack on gamer's and specifically the PC modding community that was big at the time.

I never liked the 360 much, like DJ said there's probably some great gems of games out there if you can find em under the pile of shit FPS titles and the like.  I would not consider myself a gamer or big fan of games anymore, obviously it's been an obsession of mine, thou I find it hard to really enjoy any games made in recent years.  Like someone said, probably just getting too old for these things, focus efforts on making your own games and playing old school games you missed out on as a kid.

EBay, Amazon etc is better imo, I couldn't find Yakuza 3 anywhere but I found out a brand new one was cheaper on EBay than a used one at gamestop, still need to pick up splatterhouse and a few other titles.
Even better. I use Amazon myself, great for getting games I never saw in stores, like Shinobi for PS2 and Unreal Tournament 3 for 360(which is an FPS, but the best in my opinion, just wish it didn't lag all the time, like Halo 4).

BeasTie, pretty much everything you said, and I found your post pretty informative, plus, with the recent news of M$ basically calling hardcore gamers(They're own audiance) sheep, they've already lost this generations before it started. The funny part about this is that I am a hardcore gamer, but I feel the term has been perverted over the years, since many core gamers think that the rating of a game matters(I've noticed not only do we have those who bash E rated titles and the people who play them, it's the same for the E crowd to), like I've told many people as of recently (especially to Sonic fans), a game doesn't need to appeal to a certain demographic to be good. I will admit that in my own opinion, I feel a lot of E rated games to cut it for me, until this generation where the Casual vs. Hardcore started, we didn't have some many games appealing to either one or the other, it was more well rounded, and we still had a good number of notable T-rated titles, which I noticed is almost non-existent in this gen. Most of the games I own are M rated, but I never took the time to think about that till someone mentioned that my trolling would be believable if I hadn't listed just M rated titles being better then Mario. As I thought about it, it made me sound like the typical core gamer, the kind that play only COD and make fun of everyone else. I played COD Blakc ops 2 once with my lil bro, and I have New Super Mario Bros Wii, and I think both games and franchises are overrated, but I still like other games in their genre.

1. An internet connection required once every 24 hours or else
2. Mandatory game installs with a non-removable/upgradable 500 GB HDD (Bluray games can be up to 50 GB)
3. Still no concrete information on how used games will work
4. No method of loaning a game to a friend unless he signs into your Live account (which forbids you from playing the game until he signs out)
5. Kinect must always be connected in order for the Xbox to function
6. Absolutely no backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games (digital and physical), Arcade/Marketplace games, and Indie games.

for me it's the same like many of you.

i cant' stand all this limitations, and i think the 360 will be my last console, and i will switch permanently on PC.
it's a bit sad, because there are so many good games out there, but it seems to me that the online component of the games nowadays is too much more important then good stories, plus  sadly i don't have much time to spend on videogames anymore.

Holy crap.

It's WORSE than we imagined. Microsoft is practically waging war against the consumer at this point.
