New Marvel Beat em UP

I will say one thing, I have no idea how Dotemu do it. It's just one new release after another. No doubt all runs on the same codebase, so that's no big feat, but the asset creation, that I can't figure out. Their production rate is insane.

DC

Fun game, CI has a bit more more depth than SR if only a bit. Pretty good so far but the turtles IP hit so much harder. This feels like 2020 marvel and I don't like that phase as much.

The playable roster is not so good imo, very mid and then some randos like ugly thor, cosmic gr, hel vel, eh not for me. Why not punisher or black widow? Why is shulky all roided up? Doesn't look like shulky umvc3?

Guess I'm spoiled by the openbor rosters?

That ugly thor has a very cool history on comics. Also, he has some very good moves:

But about that Ghost Rider...yeah, I agree with you. I like the fact they tried to add a different Ghost Rider, there but there were a lot of better options :)

Well I bought Cosmic Invasion and played the story mode and tried out all characters within the story mode and here are my pros and cons

Pros and cons
A decent roster of Marvel heroes and villains (some well known and lesser known) hoping for future DLC but will see
Like the Saturday morning cartoon feel of it
The pixel art is solid like the stage design and backgrounds and the heroes but I feel like they have done more like give them like special idle animations while standing etc.
The voice work is good throughout and has some well known talent like Cal Dodd, Steve Blum, Jennifer Hale, etc

The combat is OK and each hero and anti-hero has different skill set like some can dodge, block/parry or grab but I wished they could done more with the combat sound FX like each hit sounded muffled to me and has less impact when you fight the same enemy grunts over and over.

The boss fights are hit and miss some got a ton of HP and armor and there a few difficulty spikes here and there. Also the soundtrack is pretty bog standard and its kind of forgettable. Also the game need some balance adjustments to the hit stun because even the generic mook can stun you quite a lot if you're not careful.

Overall Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a OK beat'em up with a bit of depth with a few issues here and there.

Score: 7 to 7.5 out of 10

Just finished the game and I mostly agree with the previous post. Not bad, but not exceptionally good at any aspect at the same time. I can definitely tell that I liked Shredder's revenge much more that Cosmic invasion. Even though gameplay seems to be a bit more advanced, with normal and special attacks, some character flying, block/parry and assists it still feels kinda off, in TMNT on hard and especially in that rogue like mode I had to plan things and use some planning/tactics, when to attack, when to evade, when to use specials etc. more. Bosses in Marvel are bad overall. Most of them are just "approach and mash attack+assist", while some others are "destroy the object in order to make them vulnerable, then mash attack". No need to memorize their patterns or learn them most of the time. 1 super cheap boss (silver surfer), who will spam his AOE and quickly kill you unless you bring a flying character. OST is super forgettable, especially compared to TMNT which had a ton of great tracks.
The main pros are big roster and art style, probably. So, in the end: 7/10 from me. Good option to spend 1 evening to play with friends, but that's it.

Just finished the game. I gotta admit I had a blast. The game has its flaws as many of these flaws have been mentioned here. But I also understand as developers you guys see and experience what the normal guy cant. so long as you don't take advantage else you won't enjoy it. My suggestion go in with an open mind and try to enjoy it for what it is and not for what it should or shouldn't be. Comparison is really the thief of joy.

I did have a good time especially when you unlock the arcade modifiers it's really fun you a few new experiences.. at some time it does get repetitive but not as bad as some others out there. Loved Cap and iron-man these two where awesome great balance between them. Each character is sort of unique. Beta ray bill was fun too. The more you understand their gameplay you get to have so much fun. I put in 4 hours today 😅 a solid 7.5 / 10. I hope in future it will be worked on and the experience will be improved too.

There is also difficulty options in Cosmic Invasion but you have to unlock them in the vault using the cosmic cubes. (difficulty options for the arcade mode not the campaign mode)

I tried Arcade mode, Hard, 2x enemy health, faster enemies, 4x enemy count,
It made game even more fun for me for single player and multiplayer.

Surprisingly people in match making did pretty well when on these settings. Its just too bad game would get soft locked or would crash during multiplayer. D=

Sadly there is no continue in arcade mode. I hope the modes come to campaign

As far as I know (from 2 days ago) I am first person to beat this game on Arcade Hard Mode

2x enemy health,
faster enemies,
4x enemy count

There are few other arcade modifiers that I could have added but they make the game a lot less fun.

I finally got to play this game. Is it a good game? Yes. Is it worth the investment? I don't know.

There's something about the combat that bothers me. The enemies seem slippery, it feels like things never quite hit their mark, I can't quite explain it.

The animations are good, and I know that the exaggeration and the somewhat "rubbery" look is an animation technique, but it definitely doesn't suit the Sentinels – especially the giant Sentinel that stomps on you. It looks like an old washing machine that starts rattling when you turn it on, haha.

And without giving spoilers, I found the story a bit disjointed, even though it tries to follow the comics in some points. There are much bigger challenges than the final boss that you face before him (and which are even harder than the final boss).

My favorite character: Iron Man. And I use either Ghost Raider or Beta Ray Bill as a partner.

Characters I hated: Phoenix.

My favorite characters to use in Marvel Cosmic Invasion are: Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Storm, Phyla-Veil because of the fun exploits lol. The sentinels, rolling bugged enemies and the shield ones are the worst to fight in the game especially when you get ganged up on. I also dislike the hit sound effects too is like you are punching airbags for goodness sakes.

I know what you mean about the combat so I just figured out ways around it with animation and flight cancels. Even doing all that I still find that characters still need buffs.

Like Nova and Phoenix's finishing hit from their auto combo needs to come out faster. With Phenix I have to do a ton of animation cancels in different stages of her combo to be really effective. I think I have 4 or 5 variations that I use. Then you add flight cancel tech which adds a Mugen Vertical super jump to the mix. To get pass Nova's slow finisher i just animation cancel 2nd hit which does 2 hits for on button press.

(I'm not good jump yet so I can't say that it's useful)

Iron Man's flight cancel works differently where you start you auto combo on the ground then you double tap jump button to bring the rest of auto combo to air.

Phoenix's parry needs to recover a faster because she barely parry 2 shots in row from the Yellow bio suit guys. then she get's on the 3rd shot. PLUS the Other characters can parry a lot faster, (Iron Man, Ghost Rider)

Black panther on the other hand plays really well by default so play the game with him. The only special thing Black Panther has is when you use his running attack. You can cancel into rising attack by hitting Jump + Attack at the sometime, after hitting an enemy. It may work after dodge and then attack.. (I didn't think to try it until now)

Wolverine has Final Fight Cody's shifting punch infinite lol

any ways.. your Avengers game plays better for people at all skill lvls.
