Altered Beast Fan Game

O Ilusionista

Captain 100K
I played this awhile back "Got a playthrough on my channel" but look's like he has added alot of new update's since. So i will be checking this out for sure the game is fantastic :)
Thank's for posting buddy
@O Ilusionista

I have been away for awhile because i had massive issues with my pc and had to send it in to get fixed and it toke about 3 weeks to return "I got it back yesterday" :)

So im back hahaha YAY :D

@O Ilusionista

blast, you beat me to it,
some things tho, it needs to have more parallax, OG arcade had more parallax than Genesis version in some levels...
two, did you remake & include the extra levels in the NES version?
3 i wanted to make a 3D version of it, including 3D "renders" of flat elements that not even M2 at sega managed to "transform"...
i skipped a lot of parts of the videos, i don't want spoiles seems like a lot of fun

@oldyz that game wasn't made by me, but its a game I alwats wanted to remake myself.
I agree the game needs more parallax for sure and some style clash bothers me a bit, but it was fun to play.

Some NES transforms would be cool. But I dislike that GBA version with passion, lol.

Ha ha, it seemed really estrange that i did notice some weird choices for enemies, first thought i had was "O Ilusionista does not do these kind of mixups, it must be a first demo"

AAAAhhhhhhh, i was planning on playing that GBA version..... i thought it would be good....

@oldyz that gba game is the prove that better graphics doesn't means a better game...

hehe yeah, I like to avoid those clashes at all costs :)
Good lord i forgot, i had erased firm my mind the "big bad wolf" pictures i saw on previews...

that is why i have been hesitant to play it.

the graphics are good - too bright , but thats becasue of GBA's lack of backlight (they made donkey kong like this too)
, but they made some weird design choices.....

mains are too small in proportion to the OG arcade...

some monsters look cool and serious, & could even fit in the original Altered Beast game, but others look weird and cartoony, the wolfman form looks like a fairy tale cgi wolf from dreamworks, the "gumby" zombies.... what the hell happened at that development studio????

I was honestly planning on playing Xenosaga 2 but I got a little over and hour before bed I'll try this. Haven't played the original since the Genesis and I got to the point where I hardly died after playing it so much, and I played a little of the arcade version. I tried the GBA version, didn't hate it but it was kinda off.

Then there's the PS2 game. It's a whole other beast but still cool.

"Altered Beast Fan Game" is creative take on the classic Sega franchise, with some cool features:

Download for free (Windows, Linux, Android, Mac) Game Jolt - Games for the love of it By Lucas Jogos.

Good Stuff:

[+] Lives are earned after a small amount of effort (also, a large pool of lives and credits -- thanks)

[+] AI partner is aggressive, and will kill most enemies.

[+] The super-move helps.

Bad Stuff:

[—] AI is blind to bottomless pits.

[—] Some enemies that fly off the top of the screen cannot be seen or easily hit.

[—] Bosses can be fought outside of the beast-mode (you are still a Centurion).

[—] The albino wolves need an audio cue or visual cue to tell players that they are imminent.

[—] Soul orbs (power up balls) float up too damn fast, and do not linger when enemies swarm your dumb ass.

[—] Soul orbs can be stolen by the partner since they are so damn close when spawning from a dead white wolf.

[—] AI partner does not react until enemies show up.

[—] No "HOW TO PLAY" menu

[—] No gamepad support.

[—] No control options remapping.

In conclusion:

At least you guys have a complete-able game, unlike Golden Axe Myth (Golden Axe Myth) which still crashes (and doesn't save any of your game clear goodies). LOL

Ah, I didn't made this game, I was just promoting it no my channel. The author is LucasJogos :)

Bosses can be fought outside of the beast-mode (you are still a Centurion).
That happened on the original game too: Neff appears 2 times and check if you are a beast already. On the third time, he fights you whenever you are ready or not :)

AI is blind to bottomless pits.
Like on the original :)

Hi @O Ilusionista, thank you for this news.
Do you know for case which engine they used to make it?
I can't remember, but I THINK it was Construct.

Those happen in original game IIRC. I guess the dev leave these be to make it close to original.

Albino wolf gives clue of its arrival by having brown wolves arrive before it. In GBA version, orange wraith (the enemy which drops soul orbs) have 2 purple wraiths arrive before him.

I have to play it again, but I don't think the wolves have a brown, brown, white-boi pattern (the white wolf just shows up).
