Definitely the right one! I love the tail movement there. The left one is too subtle and twitchy looking.

I agree some arm motion would help make his upper body look less stiff but if it's not possible then it's not bad the way it is :)

:O .... characters have different animations for Low HP? How have I never noticed this? o_o Or is it just him?

Dude that's a really awesome touch! Makes it seem like the battle is taking it's toll. You're a genius :D
 
Maybe a close-range idle animation for some characters to signify their range for a grab attack?
 
Here's a playthrough with the character I play the worst (even worse than Emma), Beast:
Luckily that's my best run with him.

Forgive the goofy editing at the start, I was just joking around ;D

Next up, at request, will be Namor. Then either Black Cat or Wolverine, who are also characters I struggle with, especially Wolverine. It'll be a tough couple of weeks, haha  >:( ;)

YES!!!! You heard my request on Youtube lol.....Thank you! I really look forward to that. I'll be checking out the Beast Playthrough this evening.  ;D

It's a nice idea, but would require too much work.

@Psykai: Thanks for another video. Beast has improved since that version and I play to still work on it a bit.
I hope for the next release we could have those videos you make with commentaries, because is always fun to watch people reacting to the game :)

As I am now on vacation (from 1 of my 3 jobs at least, lol), I have more time to play with this, so it's time for some news:

New Frames > Since now I can rip all the frames from the original game, I've added new frames  to some enemies,
like Soldier's screen jump (plus other animations)

FAINT > I am working to give every playable character a faint animation, which happens when you have low HP. I think it's add a little touch to the game :)

Nightcrawler > He is going fine. Since he is a very agile character, he has some cool tricks like Wall Jump and Fall recovery. Also, he will have OTG attack too, like Wolverine.

I hope I can record my first playthrough of the new release with commentary. That is a goal for me to strive to. Even if it's just a private video for you but I would love to do it publicly too. I'm just so damn shy and paranoid to do commentary on my videos because I don't think I have that 'youtube persona' that is required to make commentary entertaining.

It's awesome to see old enemies getting some upgrades and animations :)

As I said before the faint animation is an amazing idea :D

That wall jump is a surprise! I'm wondering what locations in earlier levels count as a 'wall'. I think you mentioned the Truck does in Tiger Shark's stage? Any others?

I'm curious about the three skeleton colours too. Are they all slightly different to fight?

You don't need to be a youtube persona, because you already do a very good work. This guy did a complete gamethrough, using all the characters, and made a great work - without being a youtube persona too.

Any place where bullets or any other projectile collides with. Starts on that level, so that truck, some parts on that stage and the final platform counts as wall too. Another place is at Maggia Extra (that place where you see Count Nefaria).

Tecnically, all enemies with different colors has some different things. For example, Soldier will use that extend punch; Riot will use the shield to hit you, and so on.

I forgot to say: Jhfer finished to edit Andromeda, Attuma's daughter which will be a NPC, and I gave her a trident and some effects.

I guess what I mean more than anything is trying to keep up a cheerful persona. It is very hard for me to muster up that kind of energy.

With beat 'em up games in general it's difficult to do commentary. If you're doing a single playthrough, it's pretty easy, you just talk about the game as you play, but if you're doing 18+ playthroughs, how do you think of something to talk about for all that time? I'd be concerned whenever I go silent because that's boring (even though my current videos have nothing at all, lol).

Making videos with commentary is definitely something I wish to do eventually, and I will DEFINITELY record my very first playthrough of the new release with commentary, hopefully for the public, but if not then definitely for yourself privately.

Once I reach a point where I'm comfortable with commentary, I wish to record lots of kinds of games, such as some of my favourite RPGs where I will voice act the entire cast just for fun, haha.

In general I'm trying to have fun with videos and try new things. I made a silly joke video a couple weeks ago and more recently I made some music videos using game recordings and that was a lot of fun and some of my best creative work. I'm just aware that most of my 'audience' (if I even have one) are from here, so I feel like the non-OpenBOR content just won't get views (and it isn't, haha) so I'm being very careful to make sure I still upload regular OpenBOR videos too.

I knew about the Soldiers but I figured all the Riots could do the shield bash but just chose to be annoying instead :D

I took a little longer due to lack of motivation. I was suffering with bad hayfever on top of the usual depression today too so I was kinda out of it for a lot of the playthrough. Hopefully it's still good though, Namor's fairly easy to get the hang of and fun to play :)

Makes sense. When I said do videos with commentary, I was talking about when you make general reviews. I agree that 18+ full videos with comentary would be boring, lol. That guy, for example, made a walktrough of the game, but each part with a different character. THAT was my idea :)

Yep. She is a warrior, hotheaded, and love fights.

Namor is a character I learned to like thought the time (the comic version).
He can sound arrogant sometimes, but he has his (valid) reasons to be thaty way. Like when he said that throwing Hulk into a different planet and killing his wife WASN'T A GOOD IDEA and Hulk would return pissed off. When Hulk had returned, he just said "I told you, it's not my bussiness now" and went off, lol.

Ah, yeah that's what I plan to do with the new release so should be a good test for commentary :)

Wow, that was so unexpected :o I don't feel like I've done all that much (except rambling, looots of rambling) but it's been a true pleasure to work on this with you in what little ways I can and it's an honor that you thought I deserved this, so thank you! I will continue to strive to make sure I am worthy of it throughout the remainder of the project ^_^

Yeah, the fights looks different when you are in a larger environment.

You did way more than you think ;) It's well deserved. And I hope be couting on you more and more :)

PROGRESS
- Based on user inputs, now all block animations are faster and last less than before (from 1 second to 0.5 second). Some people had complained that the characters stays in block animation for too long. This makes the block more efficient and more tactical.

- Added burn, shock and other extra pain animatons to some NPCs.

- I had a NASTY idea for the fight agains tMysterio (and maybe Enchantress too). Since I don't recall of any other OpenBOR game with such idea, I will keep it a secret until I finish it. But my tests already works and its awesome ;)

 
SOME MORE NEWS:

- FINALLY, the bug which makes Tactical Force to die was fixed! It was a wrong loop on an animation, where he goes beyond a Z limit and the engine was killing him (kinda like a offscreenkill). Now the only bug that still remains is the bombs over holes. This was already fixed on a newer build, but I will wait to see a consistent OpenBOR build, between Windows and Android ports.

- Bosses lifebars are now a tad lower. This helps to make the screen a little cleaner.

- Boss Rush has now a new stage, at least. I still need to add some animations, but it's good to have something fresh.
