Project is completed.
The next information I'll post is about Gold Keys and Gold Chests.  There are 3 kinds of chests in the game, regular, metal and gold.  You can smash open regular chests (although they could be trapped, the Thief and safely open them, or the wizard can cast Detect Trap to see if they're dangerous).  The metal ones will need lockpicks to open (which Figgen the Thief sells near the sewers entrance in Chendl).  Lastly, are the gold chests.  These usually have unique powerful treasures in them, but can only be opened with Gold Keys.

Gold Keys are hidden through the game, here's how to find most of them:

GOLD KEYS
1.  Juggler in Throne Room (pay him 10 times to juggle).
2.  Rescue Missing Father quest inside locked chest
3.  Konan in Grabford Tavern (you'll find him in various towns and locations, always talk to him and occassionaly he will reward you).
4. Inside locked chest in Rescue Caravan quest - thief hideout
5.  Woman you rescue from Thief Hideout has one
6.  Abandoned Caravan quest has one
7.  Secret room in Brookmere in locked chest (need Displacer Beast eye to find room)

10.  Dark Wolf at Hippodrome gives 2 for recovering Green Gem from Abandoned Caravan quest

WALKTHROUGH TIPS:

Here's some tips when starting a new game, the order in which you should do certain activities and some helpful advice:

SPOILERS
1.  After you free Fort Belvor, go back to Chendl and talk to Caruso in the tavern and ask him about Music.  Go to the sewers and find Foxfingers.
2.  After you free Mercion from the Orc Fort and Escort the Caravan, go to Chendl Inn and talk to Peralay and do the Rescue Highfolk quest.  Make sure you have lockpicks.
3.  Talk to the girl on Littleberg farm and do the Rescue Father quest, then return to the farm to get the Mace of St. Cuthbert.  You also need this quest done to get the Displacer Eye questline to open.
4.  Once you liberate Grabford, talk to the Mayor and then go to the Ranger Glade and get the Fortress of Fangs quest.  Go there and find the golem part and flame sword.  Do all the rooms to get more gold.
5.  In Grabford, talk to the caravan owner and hear about his stolen caravan.  Then go to Littleberg tavern and talk to the bartender and ask him about Stolen Caravan.
6.  Don't do the Brookmere or Riftcrag quests until you do the Stolen Caravan.  After you do it, go back to Grabford and talk to the caravan owner to get gold.  Also talk to the old lady in Chendl Inn to get more gold.  Then go to Littleberg tavern and Deeth will be there and give Manticore Quest.  Do that quest, which opens the Displacer Beast quest.
7.  Once you finish the Displacer Beast quest and have eye and skin, switch to Thief and go see Foxfingers.  He'll train you in hide in shadows and backstab and give the Displacer Cloak quest.  Go to Littleberg magic shop and speak to Fizban.  He asks for an Owlbear Egg.  Once you get it and bring it to him, he'll give you the Cloak.  You can keep it, and don't need to go back to Foxfingers.
8.  Do the Brookmere quest, then return to Elf village and get the Save Unicorn quest.  After you finish that, switch to Telerond and buy Triple Arrows from Provisioner shop, return to elf village and talk to mother, who teaches you jumping arrows attack.
9.  Buy the weapon and armor upgrades in the Grabford armory shop.
10.  To Unmask the Spy, talk to Molliver in the Grabford tavern, Sharine in the Littleberg Tavern, and then to Figgen (lockpick vendor).  He tells you to go in sewers and speak to Foxfingers.  Make sure your health is full, then go back to Chendl tavern and confront Drex.  If it looks like Drex will escape, quit and restart the level.  You need to capture him in order to get the Holy Sword (needed to get Vorpal Blade).
11.  When you Protect the Princess, make sure you shoot the catapult at the gnolls and Warduke.  If she makes it safely, go see her in the kings throne room in Chendl and she gives you a crown that is 50% off in shops.  Once you have it, then buy spells etc.
12.  As the mage, buy the Shield Spell, Summon Imp, and from the necromancy trainer the Cloudkill one.
13.  To get 20 wyvern scales, do random encounters above left of Rift Canyon box (have marker on trees just above top left of box) and use poison or acid on them.  20 mins or so should get you 20 scales.
14.  As Strongheart, buy the Dispel Undead spell as soon as you can.  Once you have the flame sword and armor and weapon upgrade, do Hippodrome beginner rank.
15.  To get holy sword - capture Drex.  In Grunlend Keep, activate all the pull chains and floor plates to open the first locked room.  Get the mysterious note and take it to Molliver in Grabford Tavern.  She'll decode it, giving the location of Vangles (Drex's hideout).  Holy Sword is there (need gold key).
16. To get frost sword - go in hidden cell in Dorakaa Jail (Rescue Earl quest) and find note.  That puts Hidden Treasure marker near Dorakaa.  Once all demons are banished with Crook of Rao, you can enter treasure cave.  Need gold key.  Frost sword in chest on top of stone coffin.

Hope they help!

Here's another interesting feature - your failure or success on certain missions will have consequences in future quests.  For example:

1.  On the Convince Vayne To Betray Iuz quest - if you successfully answer all of Vayne's questions, he won't attack you.  Then later, in the Steal Map From Grunlend Keep quest when you're fighting Kelek, the wizard boss, Vayne will show up and help you in the battle.    But if you failed the Convince Vayne To Betray Iuz quest and kill him, then obviously he won't be there to help against Kelek later.

2.  If you successfully finsih the Buy Griffons and Orb of Oblivion quests, then in the final battle to kill Iuz, when the good army is attacking the evil army, Griffon riders will show up to help you.  But if you didn't do the earlier quests, there will be no Griffon Riders just cavalry and infantry only.

3.  In the Unmask the Spy quest, if Drex gets away he will later show up and attack you in the third Soul Husk quest.

4.  If you're Strongheart, and Charmay sends you on the Quest of the Riddles mission, if you fail the mission then Ringlerun 'dies'.  If you succeed, he will join you as a powerful NPC helper you can summon (along with Elkhorn and Peralay).

5.  When the mayor of Grabford gives you the Protect the Princess quest, if you succeed then later she will be in Chendl in the throne room and give you the Crown of Rulership, which gives you huge discounts in the shops.  If you fail and she's kidnapped, you'll later on find her dead body in Darkpool dungeon.

There are other instances like this hidden in the game.

Now that is an interesting feature. Though, it could theoretically be expanded upon in the future, it's that interesting. I'm also interested in seeing a bestiary for the game.

While testing the game, not only did we have the STORY mode (which is the only mode in the official release), we also had a WORLD MAP mode, which allows you to access all the quests, in any order at any time.  Also, an NPC fights mode which allows you to spectate some entertaining battles, and a SPELL TEST mode, which lets you demo all the magic spells.
I'm making this available in case anyone wants to play around and try things out.  Obviously, if you haven't played the game it'll spoil the adventure, and if you unlock things in WORLD MAP mode it might affect STORY mode so be sure to use a separate Save if you plan to do Story Mode only.

I named the file "levelsx", you'll have to remove the "x" to use it.  After you rename it (and save your original "levels.txt", just put this in the DATA folder and boot up the game.

From which version can i apply this levx?

I found one error in the WORLD MAP mode in the levels doc, so I reuploaded it:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/4bumz3cqevjv3nk/levels_FIXED.txt/file

Just rename it "levels" and drop into the DATA folder.

(the error was that in World Map mode, if you went to your player castle and tried to go to the roof to see the dragon tamer, the game would crash.  Story Mode was not affected).

Also a quick explanation about Random Encounters:  Each part of the map has a specific terrain and enemy type associated with it, so random encounters near the cities will be different than ones near the enemy castle.  If you're in a forest, you'll only get forest encounters.  They are more likely to happen the further from the cities you get.  Buy a Horse in Littleberg to move faster on the world map.  If you want to avoid random encounters totally, buy a Flying Carpet.

Another small feature - when trying to enter a city like Chendl or Grabford, depending if you hit the marker from the left or right side will put you inside either the west or east side of the city (which can save you time running from one end to the other if there's a specific NPC or shop you need to go to).

While we were making the game, I thought it would be fun to give the goblins some machines/ vehicles.  There was an old Star Wars toy called the Ewok Battle Wagon that I thought would make a great boss:

mh-F5Ip93Aq6Xy7OQWvaZNX6uNcAbM1fBsBxndrXyPv8tgf6345iTcCLALT9q0Zh_hjVebWxJpUOFeteyqWM41ZzAdRW1CI3UdvwTd6F2-jKY9p7k6Fd1JmrmN8bKLEII6uamCOxXd9cn4XnaK3kJS5hHsYfY43ew2tWAzeFVtOn81k4889kVL9baJLwJbIZJeDSO_SOfDoCM3zpdv1q3gK0SHXVq8D2zBHoo9aOUZnXtpiRNXVO2vQ9lcWnrnHpoYcBHhtmqBZ_WEiryF66Eu5WOnIUWx49MTC_OO2b3916EhXFS6TyhqAM9z6eblfuoaizXBJh4SJBJfNZA0D_ljGfy7zVTzZYRGKxhCLGesfMcmTrQt8OgU8L2aYwL4zjNX5Q8xK7NiZOJ4_Qg-9cZuww1SPmpwxLKwNunUw7CNz1zLKwwzgTiykwPBe00aggcUmgRAWHb0bOMBuEidjRkI6uZMs5MtclyqpVWhqtYOoUBGZhPfFofaZXuq0DrWk8I0BxZs26EaNYC_DY_j3UOwzC7uW6llXrLeQCn4GtK6fFEa6JkTKtPjOJvaaW_oQNAAPnD6-Xp0goaYkxqaTZfEvV4Aaki-vNZLpr7x3-XTUllePN8Hs7pdPR7sSi5UZEakNc9g5qLTzvgHl6u7A_A-8=w848-h573-no

The idea was that it would launch goblins from the catapult that would fly back and forth over you while dropping bombs and rocks.  It would appear early in the level just to launch, and then show up at the end to chase you and try and crush you  I went ahead and made the sprites for it, and we had a working version that looked like this:

KPO5vHU8x4m_RkiFuP26wLnS6UYsddZrLAq27UsYtcnXlwG9KJr37sm2h3JgHV3-Yr8aIbEicbM4noZon26w2nm6BnVgyNdMmsldjZqOd3lubn2gGsFIpih5aRY51PJxJgx6he4GcVYmVhZfLuZELoHSz9iQbZiVwAjvYpw_X6Ft96AZoXUF0Thz5iFZ6wlsNpS9DGZNwtQwXWaWvHbdCmttBQq0__9djMX5rNUyA5cwCSBY12kzvODOZcsqVkN-JUXezb8bSEJHLig0UmWxOc6tZHkJuCsH10QmhLDcqgCF7TlEcpR71Be4iVVo_noLx9EAKPV4bpJ7xQ8iOpz73GptyED-8EssVSYpxvSmF0KKL8kjKzqGIDZB_g8zc-7ZG_wFZzY7ZYmvwVB0pee_OHSLV8ec_38Q_6Suy48kChpo1lMU-n0M5_EWMlD3E0y0rvpeHbuxqs5AZ1Sau8VU1Qs7GOrRvwyaTwiWB1ELSQd5EYE444Q4jQz3JrUfe8KoUCNPS4Un82GzLiSnYqSbBSxtW-OMPcxGEycDKuMr9Xm3zuO-ueuuqIQB9bPfyWKwhMHKz6jrfvzdIOz1z-ADcGXmZ0KrKir4nBt1aMo2RqiWXj-HjPuD4neGUzDD7VjNm_FQ5AcxNDHgR_wBWTODGoY=w425-h315-no

Now here is where I really need to give some credit -- I was contacted by someone who doesn't want to be named, and refused to allow us to give him any credit, and he offered to help make some artwork/animations for us.  The Battle Wagon was one of the things he improved a lot:

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank this unnamed person publicly - whereever you are!  Here's how the final looks:

Amazing work! That unnamed artist did an excellent job with the boss wagon. You did an excellent job also!

Thanks guys!  I'll put up some other examples of the awesome custom artwork the "unnamed" artist did for us soon as I have some time.
As for DLC - it's always possible.  The two issues would just be time and artwork.  We used just about every sprite and background from games like Tower of Doom, Shadow Over Mystara, Warzard, King of Dragons, Golden Axe 2, Knights of the Round, Knights of Valour, Gladiator, Crossed Swords, Hippodrome and many others to make this game.  Some were painstaking to rip and clean.

The first DLC we did create we ended up just including with the game - it's the "evil" campaign that unlocks after you beat the main story.  You'll see a purple marker down in the bottom left corner of the map.  It has 4 new playable characters, a whole new world map, new enemies etc.  I know some of you have completed it, but I'm wondering how many have actually played it?
