Miru.
I totally agree with your criticisms of the game.
Some people enjoy that, which is why they like FFLNS, others don't. From my perspective, the best thing is that there are different games, with different strengths and different weaknesses. So people can play what they enjoy the most.
FFG is a great game. More classic
FFLNS is a great game too, More Fighter mechanic than traditional beat'm up mechanic. and both are very different.
Kratus.
I also didn't know that Pier Wolf had retired because of us. As I said before, the only time we communicated was to ask him if he was bothered by us sharing the LNS modifications, and he replied that he had no problem.
LNS is not a team of developers, it is a community of gamers. So we don't go around creating games from other people's content.
What happened with FFLNS was something unique, it was the first, the last and the only game that we have created using Openbor.
If in the beginning, we had had the knowledge that we have now, we would never have used the FFG.
On creating a game from scratch, believe it or not, I asked Nestor the same thing when he told us that he was making changes to the SOR2X
He told me that he had no intention of creating a game, that he was just bored and since he was playing your game, he began to make some modifications to it.
He also told us that he had spoken to you and that you had no problem with modifying your work, but that he had no intention of creating or releasing these mods as a new game.
After reading your previous post, I spoke with him again, and he promised me that the modifications he made will not be released.
I know Nestor can be a real jerk sometimes, but he is a man of his word.
It is possible that one future we will create a new game, but this time it will be something completely from scratch, possibly with unreal or godot engine.
Damon Caskey.
I really appreciate that you gave me the opportunity to present my point of view to the community.
Unfortunately after reading O. Illusionist's answer I see that any attempt to correct the past is destined to fail.
As I said at the beginning, we have no intention of taking over anyone's work or credit, much less the work they have done with the engine code.
I spoke to the person who wrote the web page, and the cancellation thing refers to the mechanics of the FFLNS that allows you to cancel special moves, one after another, for example, you can cancel 5 moves in a row to prevent an enemy from falling to the ground. That type of mechanics is not something common to see in beat em up and the phrase refers to that. No to us taking credit for what Openbor can do.
But I reiterate, if you think that something that appears on the website belittles your work on the engine, please, write me a message and I will try to solve it.
O Ilusionista said:
But you guys have my word that i will make my best for both communities not work together. We are a real team here, we don't need that kind of people here.
It is really very disappointing to read this because it does not help anyone, on the contrary. But you are correct, you don't need us, but the reverse is also true, we don't need you. Don't misunderstand my intentions, the idea of getting closer was to correct mistakes of the past, because it is the right thing to do, what happened with Pier Wolf was due to errors, errors that if both parties had had a better will, they would have been solved at the time, instead of become this hatred.
We are not interested in money or fame, we just created the game because it was fun to create and because we wanted to create the game we wanted.
O. Ilusionista, Don't worry, I won't bother you with FFLNS issues again.
For my part, I do not have any resentment with anyone in this community, but I do not see that it is possible to advance to an understanding.
I thank the people who run the engine and wish everyone who is making games all the best.
Hechelion. (Part of LNS Team)
