Solved Looking for a single plane resource.

So Ive been watching tutorials while I work, but feel like its not gonna stick until I get my hands dirty.
If I can learn while heading towards a specific goal I feel that will keep me going.
So I'm looking to try and remaster and old flash game I worked on.
and hopefully make it better in the long run.
this one:

Im looking for a game resource that works basically like a platformer, using only on a single plane for movement ( no Z)

This GBA game is exactly the mechanics what I'm going for.

I looked through the resource section, and didn't see anything similar, but I might have missed it.
