i discovered how to reproduce the bug i've found

using build 4077 the bug happend with all characters in morphed state you can keep spaming special without consume mp if you are using openbor build 4077

this bug does not happend while character is not morphed and not happen with giant robots
so my guess is a related bug to the script that controls what animation will be triggered by checking the mp bar status

I finished this game with my son, and its great. That last stage is kinda cheap (the one with fire chasing you), but its ok.

At the final battle, with the giant Lord Zedd, I was able (after I loaded the game) to choose between all chars from the game (the rangers and the robots). Its this normal?

Thank you for looking into it. I would advise to use the provided engine, which is the one I used to develop the game. I never tested it on build 4077 so there's the possibility of even more bugs.

Yes. I will make some very minor adjustments but this is pretty much the final version.

Sounds awesome that you got to play the the game with your son!

The game does not have continues partly because they are not needed and partly because it results in that glitch you are mentioning  (being able to pick any char, regardless of the stage). It also screws up the dynamic of stage 6 (the one with the fire), which makes it cheap (as in you could respawn right into the fire, for example), plus it robs the stage from that sense of urgency.

This game is really good except why did you put billys head on adam and rockeys body?  Why didnt you use billy from movie?  Other than that good job its a great mix between the snes and genesis versions.

Beat it and only had a bit of trouble with Goldar (he took forever to die!!) and the final Zedd. What an awesome game.

Thanks for bringing back so many nice memories!

Oh yeah, works great on the android platform.

Did you tweak the levels.txt to grant you more continues? Because that issue is solved by not having continues… which is why the game doesn't have continues.

Although now that I think of it, that issue would appear anyways when a second player joins in in the middle of a level. Hmm.

Nope, I don't think I did unpack it to check the levels.txt for tweaking and continues but when I go to continue with Load Game, I have a character already chosen from my last time of playing till I lose. Then I choose another character. After choosing one character with some lives and losing them, then it's Game Over. It seems that it has a one chance of a continue.

Yeah I was going to take those out but then I forgot. The reason for the flash is that the forward-throw is a blast attack. I would have to give the putties another fall animation for that particular attack, and suppress the flash. Thanks for reporting it.

I didn't notice the forward-throw as a blast attack. LOL Maybe you would've used the slam scripts but I understand you didn't use them.

I found some stuff which probably have some weird functions I think.

I defeated the two of the three bosses when I could go around while scrolling but when I was confronting any last one, the scroller didn't move so it ends up not scrolling anywhere.

The enemy/boss jumps around but when it reaches to the big rock on the upper right side of the corner, he can't jump anywhere else but there.

I was doing the "throw-to-camera" throw on the enemy, but instead, I think the other one got closer and then both of them are being thrown by one players. LOL I can't remember exactly how it happened like this.

I am wondering about one of them does the pose after taking it and morphing, while one of them doesn't take it and doesn't do the pose. Like this. For example, Jason does the morph pose after morph while Zack doesn't after that. Is it normal like that?

I was back-throwing the Putties but he dies after being back-thrown, it seems that the death anim for the Putty goes blank from playing a death animation. The putty seems to have a death animation of his own, but I have no idea his animation goes blank after being thrown. I thought the putty would show his animation being blank but not yet dead in the shot.

I was testing to play as both Dragonzord and Tigerzord as playables in the select screen for the defeating the giant monsters. Same for Megazord and Thunderzord. One can choose Thunderzord and the other can choose Megazord. It'd be weird if Power Rangers choose both Thunderzord and Megazord for battle, same for Tommy (Green/White Ranger) on both Dragonzord and Tigerzord.

In Area 4, I was using both Zack (P1) and Tommy (Green) (P2) after I completed Area 3 with Megazord and Thunderzord. Actually, I lost with Zack and had Tommy to fight until I finished the area. After that, in the stage select screen, I chose the green ranger (on P2 side) and while I selected the green ranger, another player cursor appeared and I chose the white ranger. Both Tommys are selected and here it is in ingame.

Wow. A lot of feedbacks I've given ya.

Just played it. Reached level 4 final boss. I must admit i never saw the show back then, so I wasn´t as much attratcted to this game as if it were based on some other IP which I could be more familiar with. But that said, what a great game this is!!! I have played just once and came here to say thanks and congratulations for your work. I will test it on psp later and tell you how it works
Edit: Tried it on my psp. It crashes after the downloading screen

Thank you for all the feedback.

Maxman I'll fix those issues, thank you for bringing them to my attention. Although having two Tommys at the same time is fine - technically the Green Ranger, Megazord and Dragon shouldn't be in the game at all. They are hidden in the char selection screen because they are like (badly) hidden eastern eggs, cheats basically, and as it sometimes happens with cheats in video games, all the logic is thrown out the window. If we want to fanwank it, well there was an episode where Jason summoned and controlled the Dragonzord WHILE in the Megazord, there's another where Thudermegazord fought agaist the Megazord I think (not 100% sure on that one), there's a couple of episodes with two Tommys, one Green and one White, at the same time. The show did  a lot of absurd stuff like that and changed the rules whenever it felt like, so I feel the game can get away with those things in the name of fan service.

esn23 I never liked Billy's look in the SNES games, it was ver inaccurate, hence the change.

Do you guys think the game is too easy? I feel that it grants lives too often.

To me honestly the challenge is right not too hard but not too easy I die a couple of times but that's what makes a game a ''true'' game. I feel today's games is too casual friendly nowadays since big game developers is trying to cater a new younger generation market.

The game is not easy. There are many times when you can die if you make mistakes, but most of the times it´s the player´s fault, so you can beat it by learning form the game. In my opinion, that´s one of the things which makes a great game.
I was thinking it recently. One of the things which made Campcom´s beat-em-ups PERFECT (such as Cadiilacs and Dinosaurs, The Punisher, Final Fight, Alien vs Predator, etc...) was that there was the exact amount of enemies coming at you with just the right life and in the right moment. The games were never cheap. If you died, that was your fault.
Something like that I have seen in this Power Rangers game. I think the difficulty is exactly the way it has to be.

hey guys a fan of ur game told me an idea for a new bor game

wait if we make a game tribute to jason david frank in title "power rangers:legacy of tommy Oliver"

it will show tommy's ranger story from mighty morphin to dino thunder

& for a  boss battle tommy will face green red and white ranger

Thanks. I think that if you're able to beat the game the first time you play it then it's too easy. You would not have the motivation to learn from our mistakes.

I get mad playing games because unfair difficulty spikes, cheap ass bosses with no challenge or variety and also trying to make the game look good instead of working gameplay mechanics but I have the passion and the fury to get through it and beat the game with vigorous force. And yes Capcom made some of the best arcade beat-em ups ever.

Very good this mod! Could make a mini tutorial on how to make position of victory? I found it very cool and gives a professional touch in the game. Congratulations! ;D

Thanks, man. If you go to page 5 of this topic you'll find posts about the victory animation.

Thanks Merso X for reminding me of that one where Jason was controlling the Dragonzord. I forgot about that part in that episode. Also, last night, I went to check on the Rangers Wiki about Tommy and sure enough, it did mention that a few episodes featured green ranger and white ranger (two Tommys).

I might suggest if you could put up allowselect in any/every stage for allowing all Rangers in only Ranger stages and all Zords in only Zord stages, but I think using allowselect would be a problem for both morphed and unmorphed Rangers in all Ranger stages when it comes to selecting in the middle of the stages after losing lives. I think Zords are okay if you use allowselect since they are not changeable unlike the Rangers. (Can't remember if anyone can disable some characters from being selected.)

Here's another problem. I was using both Trini and Tommy (after I went to load game), and had both of them morph. I let them lose for testing the char select in the middle of the stage, and then, I chose unmorphed Zack (as I expected him to be morphed but turned out unmorphed) and the Dragonzord. :P Zack ain't morphed so I think that all Rangers are not morphed after you start in any stage from the very beginning. Embarrassing again, isn't it? Ignore Dragonzord 'cause I discussed about the Zords being in Ranger stages.

I'm fixing the glitches now and I'm almost done. That one in particular is (I think) due to continues, so I disabled being able to get continues from score. After I finish modifying the game i'll play through it to see if it's too difficult and adjust the number of lives accordingly.

About the difficult, the only things that bothers me is that the first boss is harder than the other ones. He has many invincible frames, the others has too, but they are piece of cake. The only boss that is a challenge, after the first one, is Mirron Maniac.
