I liked the game so far.
I have just two ideas to give you:
1) the red font is hard to read. Try to add a black shadow, like this:
2) I think Hanzo doesn't fits, because the graphic style. Maybe you can try to use the Genesis/Mega Drive version of the char?
There is a game called Sou Blade Super for Genesis http://www.spriters-resource.com/genesis_32x_scd/soulbladesuper/ you can try to get Taki from that game.

Yeah I know snk and sega does not marry very well, but other than that i think he fits really well, he is a shinobi like Joe, and have similar moves. If people don´t like it i remove him, but for me is really enjoyable to play as Hanzo.O Ilusionista said:

Sorry I haven't gotten you my jump script (you absolutely must have full jump height + direction control in a game like this) or the Shuriken spread script.
Friday the RAID controller in my home server went haywire and wiped out ~5 terabytes of data. I have backups, but as you might guess that much stuff takes a while to restore and catalog. Been at it all weekend and will probably need a couple more days still. Soon as I have everything up and running again I'll get them to you.

Found this abandoned Shinobi game floating around. Form what I can tell it was made sometime in the early days of Lavalit. Very rough around the edges and only only plays through two stages, but showed a lot of promise.

SHINOBI in OpenBor!! This is a working progress game, i´am trying to replicate shinobi 3 from sega genesis, in OpenBor engine, not exactly equal but same base. Here is a demo so sega fans can try it for free, and give me some feed back. New Player and new level added, and some corrections...chronocrash.com

It wouldn't work for me either but then I had the idea of making the old thread the default discussion and add the new threads post's to the old thread, I'm very tempted to start poking around these files and updating it....very tempted
