This game is marvelous. I love going seamlessly from normal to weapon mode with out a seconds pause. The backgrounds are beautiful and all the new enemies and how they enter the scene are so full of imagination and uniqueness. I also like how stages transition now. You have upgrade the series in every way and taking it in a great directions. I literally laughed while playing some part of this because I was so impressed with all the nice little touches like galsia's vaulting over walls to fight you. You have been very hard at work and it shows. There are some things like how much damage attacks deal that need to be adjusted or how Axel has no grabbing enemies from behind attacks but that is overshadowed by all the awesomeness that this mod brings to the table. Thank you so much mtrain ;D
 
What an impressive demo mtrain, you have taken the SOR series and gave it a fresh new coat of paint. Love the visuals and the soundtrack is very excellent and the gameplay is good old fashioned SOR style with a twist. Can't wait for the final version soon.
 
Which engine version does it use? I tried latest engine but it just return to main menu
 
I downloaded it for a quick test and ended up playing it twice! Once with each character. This thing is GREAT! I loved every second. So very well done. I think the best aspect of it was the atmosphere. The awesome music paired with the always dynamic backgrounds, made the whole experience very special... I got that long lost feeling I would get while playing video games as a kid, when what's in front of you is not just a video game, a combination of images and coding, but something more, like a new world of endless possibilities that makes you daydream the following day during class...

Awesome awesome demo. Two thumbs way up!

For my part i don't really like the new style, i prefer old pixels :p

BUT, your game is beautifull, really fun to play, you save the spirit of the original one !

I am very surprised, it shows that the programming has been difficult, you have touched up graphically and added the element of the weapons been surprising. One million thanks mr.train
 
The style is awesome and I love the weapon mode (looks so badass when you activate it.). I only hope for more moves.

I was just able to see the youtube video posted here by naota, thank you by the way, and I have to say I love this one, sadly it cant be played on nintendo wii, when stage 1 is about to start the game crashes and the message exception error and a log file is displayed on the screen, then openbor closes, any chances to do a compatible version? or is it my openbor engine version? thanks in advance

Great project! I found the demo very funny !!
Only bug is that the enemy on the bench does not wake up and I cannot continue!
I would advise you to increase the number of frames of the animations to make the latter more flwing. It's not very nice to see the graphics in high resolution with image pre-rendered and then a few sprites for animation. Especially in the attacks.

As i posted earlier, this demo was oriented to show new visual style, and, main, to test game mechanics: controls, movement, collisions, damage, and overall feeling "is it a Streets of Rage?") Basis on your replies, i will know how to move next, and know if i have take a right course)
From the beginning of this project in 2011, when i have played a lot in SoRR, i thought that i want to have a SoR4, and i decided to make it, thats why i am so into this mod and put attention to all details. I am die hard SoR series fan an i love to work on this project. And the best thing is that there is not so much work left to finish it. ;)

Thank you) This idea came to me when i was playing SoR2, and think how it was great to see how characters walk into bar, outside bar, without level cutting. So i decide to divide stages into zones (levels), to not show black screen and loading between them.

Yes, i am still working on that things.

Thank you, , this was my main goal. I dont really know how to say it, but to bring that feel, that you actually playing SoR. When you play SoR1, SoR2, then SoR3 and after that you want to continue the adventures of our heroes, and start my mod (i am not promoting for my mod) that will explain why and where are our heroes move next. I think you understand me)

p.s. as for me - i am waiting right now my little brother to arrive from Odessa in few days and we will play through my game in 2p mode to test whole game, like in good all times (his gf, actually think that he will help our parents ;D 8))

Hello, Gideon Syrus, i think it was latest version? Do you play on PC, or a console? ..oh i see: nintendo wii. I cant say anything about compatible with consoles, because i am only testing on the PC.

Agree with you, i like old pixels too, but my bad that i cannot draw an arcade pixelart :-[

But in this mod there is a tons, really megatons of pixel art, that take a biggest part of time, hours and ho... days and da... months and months of editing rendered sprites, drawing faces, hair, cloth details, retouch...

the element of the weapons been surprising
That was an experiment and i like the idea, that all characters have unique weapon (by my plot, this weapons dr.Zan made for each hero, he will give them in the beginning)

I have posted about this earlier, agreed, but on this step of modding, it is really hard. And actually i have added more frames to some enemies and characters moves but it takes a lot of time. I am still looking on it. I have choose a big resolution and from start havent right organised my work, because of experience lack on that time :-[

I forgot to tell something i noted on the demo.

Probably you are aware of this , but the "stars" that indicate the attributes of Blaze are wrong. It's noticeable she´s faster than Axel but in the "stars",  she has 2 stars like Axel.

Honestly if I were you I would entertain the notion of changing the names on this mod and once it's complete, sell it as its own thing unrelated to SOR.

something is going on with his spine when walking
to be honest, the walking and running animation is the hardest to make for me, i mean really hard. This is not about a frame number or anything else, but it is real challenge for me to make it looks natural. There was many variants of both animations and they always look clumsy. I am even shot my walk on the video)) Maybe the best result i get on Blaze`s walk animation. But anyways i am improving my skills)

suddenly, without my permission, trigger activates "multi-punch". How is that possible?
You mean grab-forward+a move? It is weird, i have not get this bug before. Will look on it.

Now it is the turn of Blaze....    ..problem is with the front, front and punch technique
i read several times but not getting about what move you spoke. Can you post a combination? :-[

not to appear or walk to the front until the character separates from it a little pixels.

She is a little bit faster, but in the same speed range with Axel and Lita, for example: Max, Adam and Zan will be in their slow speed range and have 1 star, Skate and Shiva will be much faster and have 3 stars.

You are right. Weapon mode is an alternative to regular form. You deal more damage but slower, so you can choose a tactic. Thats why it have just several moves. Remember original SoR, you pick a weapon and all you can do is 1 attack, but i improve it to providing get weapon anytime you want, make 2 chain attacks, do jump attack and grabattack .Actually i havent plan to be able to jump in weapon form, i add it later.
 
Yes it was latest OpenBOR engine version, I understand if you cant say something about consoles, I just want to know which engine version did you test this game plase, no matter if it was PC version, it could be a version problem, maybe that´s why I cant play it on my wii console. That have happened to me before with other MODS
