Hi guys!
I'm sorry for creating a topic a few years ago about a mod I gave it up just after for some reason. So now I open a new thread for an another project. Actually I have had some potential mods through years and this one is maybe the most feasable for me as a first project. It's been near one year I have focused only on this one and put the others aside. This WIP will take years before being completed, I hope two. But I've already spent on it more than 200 hours since the beginning and I'd like to release a demo in one year.
Anyway!
If I write this text today it's because it's the 25th anniversary of Megadrive's game Comix Zone and thus it's the right time to tell you I want to make a sequel thanks to OpenBor! This will be a beat'em up though.
Story:
This time Sketch Turner is working on an OB mod using sprites from bootleg 8-bit games and, you know... the last boss make him get into the WIP game. :/ And then Alissa Cyan is back home and take a gamepad to control Sketch in order to get him out of the screen by beating the last boss. If she fails, Sketch dies and the villain get out of the game to rule the world...
Although it will be different from Comix Zone, Mod X Zone (maybe not the definitive title) will keep the original spirit. Indeed Sketch and Alissa will talk to each other and this time the roles will reverse. Sketch, like a puppet, will just be able to give advises to Alissa because he knows his game where is now trapped. The player will choose between various routes and items (actually some hyper moves). Off course the comic aspect will remove but I'd like to exploit the fact the hero is in a video game and the characters are aware of it. And I want the player can't go to the end when playing for the first time. Good knowledges of the numerous enemies of the game will be required...
The size of the screen is particular: 368x207 (16/9 though). Other players than Sketch will be available. They'll be prototype characters of (prototype) games. Many things still be evolutive but I think I describe the core of the future game.
