Ultimate Double Dragon

Complete LOTDD - Now: Ultimate Double Dragon 3.0 (Final)

Project is completed.
Hi there, I was looking through the discussions to see if anyone else has this issue. Could not find it so I made an account here to ask (plus I want to check out all the other cool stuff!)

But every time I punch, a little feedback pop sound happens. How do I fix this? I have the final version downloaded. Thanks for any help!

Is there a comprehensive actual guide to this game? One that tells you the move list (in a better way, the command list in game isn't very good) and how to get the secrets? Every time I try and get some more information on how the game works, I get cryptic ass answers that doesn't tell me shit

*sigh* I hate to be unwelcoming to a new member, but come on man. Maybe if you didn't roll up with opprobrious language out of the gate, you'd get a little farther. Any cursory search would turn up everything you need, including step by step videos and literal spreadsheets of the moves. If that's too cryptic, I don't know else what to tell you.

Been really enjoying my time with UDD so far, though I've only managed to clear Arcade US and Ultimate Challenge so far, both as Spawn (and, for the latter, frankly being really cheesy with Spawn's Sonic Blast charging move); still working on trying to clear Arcade Legendary with Shaq and one of the Story modes with Jeff. I haven't really been able to fully wrap my head around some of the combo-oriented subsystems, particularly the KI and Brutality chains, but honestly everyone's move sets are so big that I don't feel like I'm handicapped by that. I rely a lot on basic punch-punch-uppercut juggles with basically every character, and that can feel a bit cheesy, but at the same time I'm still able to find uses for plenty of other moves, so I'm still interacting with enough of the other mechanics, I think (and I figure this is deliberate so a character like OG Dragon feels viable).

Some questions I've had from my time playing:

- Is there a better way to deal with late-game block-happy enemies than just fishing for a stun into a launcher to juggle them? It feels like there's something I'm missing there (maybe those KI combos I haven't really been able to get to grips with), but often on the last stage I end up struggling to get real damage in on certain enemy groups for long enough that I start slipping up and getting brutalized. If there's a more efficient way to deal with blockers, I'd love to know.

So, uh, how do you deal with the giant spinning death machine in the middle of that huge pit? I blew through 2 or 3 credits trying to get past it and game overed with no apparent progress at any point. I really didn't understand what was going on there, wondering if I'm missing context on it from it being a reference to a game I haven't played or something. I've mostly been focusing on Legendary/Route C, so I haven't gotten back to trying this route again to figure it out, but I'd appreciate some help there.

- Not really advice, more just curious - is there a way to play as Spawn and Shaq in Story mode? I figure not, just want to check in case there's a way to play route B with them.

- I keep getting double-inputs with the move lists specifically, can make it really annoying to try and reference specific moves when it feels like the game is randomly just skipping past the page I wanted. Is this a known issue, and is there a workaround? (Been playing via Proton on my Steam Deck, but this seems to happen even when playing on my Windows laptop.)

- Bit of an aside, but every time I play as Jeff, try to stun an enemy and go into a Sonic Blast super, only for the enemy to immediately block it and punch me, I feel sad. This isn't a complaint, I just keep trying it and it keeps happening.

Also, I did upload my Spawn Arcade US run here - not exactly an impressive showcase or anything, but y'know:

Either way, yeah, this game rules, feels fantastic, gonna keep trying to clear more of the modes.

Fair enough you have a point. Its been a while since I went back and looked at the youtube page and I didn't notice the movelist breakdown for most of the characters were there. I did notice spawn was missing his complete moveset video, and being he's the one I'd like to learn the most, that was a little disappointing. I just joined the discord to get some more information on secret routes and help with whatever other questions i might have. Thanks for calling me out, it forced me do some research.

My one main criticism so far after playing again? No save. Its a little silly that you'd make a game this hard without the ability to save your progress. Enemies can be brutal and cheap and don't leave much room for error, which can drain your lives fast. If this was the developers intention, fine, but there should at least be an option. Not everyone has that same sense of nostalgia and it really hurts an otherwise good game.

This sentence is somewhat contradictory. Because if the developer's vision was not to have a save function...it wouldn't make sense to have that option :)
it's the same when a game made in OpenBOR doesn't have cheats allowed (like mines).

Follow-up to my last post, I did finally finish an Arcade Legendary run as Shaq, if just barely. I'm kinda tempted to maybe eventually try for a 1CC, but I want to do route B in story mode first at least. Realizing the Clayfighter supers are actually really good as safe combo starters probably saved the latter half of this run, even with me fumbling the inputs for them a bit too often.

I do wish there was a way to play as Spawn and Shaq with the three standard soundtrack modes; I dig the Legendary soundtrack choices, but it does slam a comical amount of content IDs on the video here lol.

Also man, it's kinda funny how mission 7 ends up being basically the second half of the game in terms of sheer runtime; reminds me of Metal Slug 3 in that regard.
