Project is completed.
Well, you can't have the Morlocks without Callisto, so... new NPC on Pocket Dimensional Clash 3 :)Yes, it's an intense fight against 1 boss + 2 sub-bosses, so an NPC is very welcome.

New CPU Characters:
To prevent you from ending up with a duplicate character on your CPU CO-OP team, we're adding two* new characters: Kasumi Todoh (Art of Fighting/Arcade) and Riki (Black Belt/Master System).

These characters will not be selectable as playable characters, and there are no plans to make them playable in the future.

*We may add other characters later.

Black Belt aka the western adaptation of Hokuto no Ken. I should just add a white palette for Kenshiro in this honor ;)
Well done and a very nice character, I always enjoyed playing with a karateka like the one you present

Now, right after the battle against Evil Ryu and before reaching the Double Dragon section, we'll have a racing level - I like these changes of pace, and we thought the game was a bit linear. Jhfer took the opportunity to bring in an obscure Marvel villain: Nuke.
Yes, all the characters will have an alternate mode - some in vehicles, others on animals, others flying, etc.

We're a little quiet because we're working on something we've always wanted for the project: a better selection screen!

There are other methods to achieve this, but some have small problems that can become huge later, and this one offers more features :)

For this, we had the honor of having the incredible help of none other than the Lead Dev of the engine itself, @DCurrent ! We can't express our gratitude for the amount of work he's done here.

The code to do all this, to me, seems more like black magic than anything else, and Damon is a magician – well, this is his grimoire after all ;)

If you've ever watched the Simpsons episode where it shows how Homer Simpson's dog understands what he says...that's me trying to understand the source code of all this, hahaha.

Advantages of this method:

🔴 Optimized character selection screen experience
Commands:
Arrow keys: Move the cursor in four directions
Attack/Jjump: Increases or decreases the palette index
S (Block): Randomly selects a character and chooses it
START/Attack2: Manual character selection

🔴 Ability to add, remove, or even change the position of characters on the selection screen

🔴 Ease of maintenance: everything you see here is controlled via scripts - the icons, the character names, the original game, their type and trait

🔴 Character selection screen that works within the game, with all the advantages above

The select screen in action:

Oh, and soon, another very interesting new feature ;)

This system is really interesting!

Question: How do you select the color since the cursor can move in four directions? Do you select the template first, then the color at the top and bottom? Is it possible to undo the selection?
I have always thought it is an excellent concept for a 4-player mode to be able to switch to 1 player and 3 NPCs, and that each NPC can potentially be replaced by a player joining the game. Well done on this excellent selection script, you did a great job ;)
