I can't believe that Top Hat Gaming found a cancelled gem. I forgot that this even existed. Let's thank Big Daddy Top Hat for rediscovering an old gem for us (as well as reminding of why we appreciate TMNT Rescue Palooza).



Now, I wonder what even happened to White Dragon...🤔

It's good to see you posting again @Uche. That said, personally, I couldn't care less what Top Hat Gaming Man has to say. Dude has about as much credibility as a prepaid Discover Card. We just had a discussion about that over on the thread for Double Dragon Revive.

As for White Dragon, he never officially canceled Shell Shocked, just quit doing any work on it. Roughly a year after that, he was ejected from the development team and the community for repeatedly ignoring requests and warnings to stop putting redundant bloatware into the engine. @O Ilusionista witnessed this and even tried to defend him, but the guy wouldn't stop shooting himself in the foot.

He responded by creating a fork that to this day copies code from the official OpenBOR source whenever we make updates and then tries to claim credit for it. So yeah, he is not welcome here at all, and Shell Shocked is very much dead. There have been a few attempts by third parties to bring it back, but they all fizzled out too.

And the cherry on top was: he decided to attack ME, the very person who tried to defend him, lol.

Here, we have a saying that goes, "He who sleeps with a snake, wakes up bitten." Lesson learned.

Oh yeah - I do recall that. Was going around sending PMs to people claiming you were plotting to get him ejected because you were jealous of him or some such. I guess all those discussions you and I had where you asked me to give him more chances were just an elaborate false flag operation. :rolleyes:

Okay. It sounds like you had bad history with White Dragon and mentioning his name is unwritteningly forbidden. I apologize.
 
Sad history, very bad when someone you have your trust heavily on it gets evil and betray you. Even if there's OpenBOR forks I'll stay with the original that brings what I need :)
 
Sad story. Shell shocked looked really good, but somehow TMNT fan games have a curse to be abandoned and not finished for various reasons. Rescue palooza and Recolored/extended being exceptions.
I remember I was super hyped for BonusJZ projects for which he had demos, that was back on old Lavalit website, TMNT Wrath of the Shredder being one of them. Unfortunately this never got finished :(

Yes, I remember that. I don't usually mind when someone doesn't like me – after all, it's their right. I just prefer that they dislike me for the right reasons, hahaha.

But injustice is something that bothers me a lot. It's good that we have you to prove that I defended him countless times; I sleep with a clear conscience :)
 
I don't mean to derail and pile on to Top Hat - but I let my curiosity and good sense get the better of me, and had a watch. So, now I've contributed to his numbers and monetization - that's on me.

As for the content? Well... Funny how almost all of his information comes fight from reading this forum - up to and including a screenshot of the canceled status.

Yet he chooses to paint White Dragon as some kind of unsung hero despite WD's well documented behaviors. Fine, fine, that could be subjective outside looking in. What isn't? There are no links back here at all to actually download the game or get more information. Nothing, even not a mention in the narration. He uses us as his primary source, and then deliberately conceals identifying who we are - implies Senile Team is responsible for OpenBOR when they haven't been involved in any way for 20 years now (wow we're old).

Fine, fine again... maybe an oversight, or maybe we're not that important. Except - he makes sure to leave out any other sources too. Not even to White Dragon. What he does do is direct you to a bunch of shady sponsors.

This kind of stuff is what gives independent gaming journalism a black eye IMO.

This is why I have plans to reply there - I haven't did it yet by lack of time, but I will do it.
There are many half true information on the video.
