I've been playing the new demo for hours now and after the survey yesterday I decided to do some character reviews

Obviously these are just my personal thoughts on the characters and I know I'm bad at the game and also very nitpicky so I'm not sure if they'll be helpful or not. I'm judging them on their moves, their overall feel, and if they feel playable in all stages and situations. This will probably be an insanely long post, lol, so I'm sorry for that! Also, I almost never rate anything 10/10 because I know I might find something I like more than that, so don't worry if most characters are scored less than that!
Captain America - 7.4/10
In the first demo, I thought Captain America was one of the best characters in terms of his gameplay and overall feel. I don't like him in the Marvel Universe, but he's so fun to play as that he was my second most chosen character! His moves chained together well and were satisfying to use, although I did feel like he didn't throw his shield far enough (for a guy with super strength). In the second demo, even with some of his new moves, he felt a little weaker somehow. I can't quite put my finger on why. I found that in later stages especially, he seemed a little harder to use efficiently. I would have probably given him 8 or 8.5/10 in the first demo. I don't think he's gotten worse, but I think the game's gotten better than him, if that makes sense. His Avenger Power is one of the best if you can line it up correctly and his ability to restore power faster really helps to use it more frequently if you miss.
Iron Man - 6/10
One of my favourite marvel characters! Iron Man in this game feels pretty good, yet also a little underwhelming at times. Even though he probably has the same number of moves as the other characters, he feels like he has less. Some of his moves are pretty fun to use though. The Repulsor Blast is a great projectile and I love his aerial dive attacks. I also noticed you can hold down the block button with him, which is great. I also really like his alternate fire in the MK1 armor. It adds replay value to the character. I like his Avenger Power a lot but I do find myself missing with it if my enemies aren't perfectly lined up at times. In short, I like him, but it feels like something's missing, I just don't know what it is though, lol.
Hawkeye - 7.4/10
Yep... he scored higher than Iron Man. I don't know how it happened either. In the first demo he was probably 3.5/10 at best, almost unplayable, like in First Alliance 2. But now, he's just excellent. Like Captain America, I don't like Hawkeye as a character, but his new update is so much fun to play that I'm actually picking him a lot more now and as I said in another post, he feels more than playable, he feels good! His grabbing moves especially have made him a much better character and I like how he can can run side to side now. It was a nice balance rather than making him unable to run at all. I still find it awkward to use his special arrows, but now he feels like he doesn't need to rely solely on them to play well because he has a lot of other options to attack with now. Seriously, amazing job. I never thought anybody could make him playable, but you've done it.
I definitely want a Hydra palette for him (and the other Avengers) though. I love that colour scheme so much! Green for the win!
Hulk - 7/10
Speaking of green...
I must confess, I do not play Hulk very often as I am not a fan of "slow powerhouse" characters in beat 'em ups, however I can say that Hulk is one of the most faithful recreations so far, from his voice to his moves. He is slow, but he doesn't feel hindered by it, which is good. I love how he can take a lot of hits without falling down and his high jumps really do just feel so much like watching the Avengers movies. His heavy sound effects are satisfying and make you feel like you really are in control of a monster. His moves are pretty fun to use and he has an overall good feel about him. I do kinda wish he could do the famous 'loki throw' as a grab special though.
Also, I have to ask, is the "leave Hulk alone!" line a reference to the "leave Britney alone!" meme? I've been wondering for a while but keep forgetting to ask. If it is, that's awesome. I love references like that.
Thor - 6.8/10
Thor is another character I don't like much in the Marvelverse and in the first demo he was another character who felt a little unplayable at times. His updates have definitely improved him and I have fun playing him, even though I don't pick him much. His new colour palettes are excellent and make him more visually appealing too compared to his old, bland ones. I'm still not sure why he can't throw that blasted hammer

but his new grabbing moves are VERY nice to watch and his aerial strike is excellent. He's definitely viable in most situations and, even though I probably can't play him very well, he's strong enough to hold his own in the later stages. He's definitely faithful to the character and his dialogue sounds perfect for him too.
Vision - 6.5/10
Vision is a hard character to rate. I love the way he plays and his ability to 'teleport' around the stage (and control where he reappears) is excellent. Most of his moves look cool and are fun to use. However, he seems to have one major flaw and I just can't figure it out. He gets 'timed out' in almost EVERY boss fight. I'm not sure if he just isn't dealing enough damage or if it's hard to hit most bosses with his moves, but somehow he gets timed out a LOT. I hope it's not just me that suffers this. I usually get timed out at least once per boss fight, and against Hammer it was probably twice. I really don't know why this happens, but my only guess is maybe his damage is too low to kill bosses within the allotted time? Otherwise, he's definitely worth a higher score, but he's just not fun to play in boss fights because it takes so long to kill them that it gets kinda boring to keep fighting them.
Also, I THINK some of his dialogue is the wrong way around. I think he says "decreasing density" when he uses his aerial slam, when it should be 'increasing' since he's becoming heavier, whereas he says "increasing density" when using his Avenger Power to become completely intangible, when he's actually DEcreasing his density. I might be wrong but it could be worth looking at
War Machine - 7.2/10
I liked War Machine in the first demo, and I like him even more in the second! He feels like a good, all-rounded character. His moves are visually appealing and you've done a great job of making him feel different than Iron Man. He feels like his own character. He works well in most stages. Occasionally it feels like his Avenger Power can miss a lot of enemies, but it doesn't happen too much. Overall, he just feels good. Not much else I can say!
Beast - 5.8/10
Beast is quite tricky to play but has a few moves that are fun to use (the Wild Slash for example). I like his new grapple moves (especially the handstand kick!) but, like Iron Man, he feels a little underwhelming at times. He isn't a character I would be able to play the entire demo with before getting a little bored. I wish I knew why

I still don't use his Avenger Power much either but I understand it's purpose. I just prefer his regular specials, haha.
Quicksilver - 7.8/10
One of the best and most faithfully created characters in the game. Quicksilver's base movement speed is great and his running speed is perfect, fast enough to feel like you're the 'speed king', but not so fast that you can't see him, lol. Many of his attacks, whilst simple, are fun to use and all feel useful in various situations. A lot of his moves chain together well. He's a very tactical character, but not so tactical that it takes away the action. His Avenger Power is one of the best in the game as it covers the whole screen if used correctly. His rising attack is way better and far more useful than his old one. I know I'm not alone in saying his Sky Stage is nothing short of genius. The visual effects on his speed are very pleasing on the eye

He might not be as 'flashy' as some of the other characters, but he's a lot of fun to play.
Emma Frost - 5/10
Try as I might, Emma still feels too hard to play and is one of those characters who you look at and think "why would I choose her over any of the others?" She has plenty of moves to choose from thanks to her two forms, but somehow she still feels too tricky to use efficiently and her psychic attacks are rather difficult to use. I DO like her increased range in psychic form though. I don't play her enough to really say much more

I intend on forcing myself to do a full playthrough with her at some point to try and figure her out more.
Black Cat - 6.8/10
The first of the new characters! I was really looking forward to both her and Tigra and they did not disappoint. She's fun to play and her moves and specials are decent although I wish she had more aerial options (as a feline character). I like her Feline Somersault on the ground, but the aerial version feels pointless. I've never found a situation to use it over the regular one. I think it would be nice to see her use her rope in the air the way she could in First Alliance 2 to perform a swing kick. I love her rising attack a lot and it's definitely one of the best, like Quicksilver's, for mowing through a group of enemies. I also love her costumes a lot because they're all so different! Her Avenger Power is a little hard to connect with and use properly, and it seems like sometimes enemies ignore it, and sometimes they don't. I thought Hydra Golems were immune to it at first until one time it randomly worked on one, so I dunno :S I also love her voice because it stands out from the other characters and it's a pleasure to hear. "Girls just wanna have fun" never fails to make me smile a little.
Namor - 7.8/10
This guy surprised me. I had no idea who he was and so I didn't really care much about him, but when I saw his gameplay videos I thought 'he actually looks fun!' and I was right. He's very fun to play. His moves look great and are very satisfying to use. His dash attack and Mermanus Strike are great fun. Like Black Cat, I love the diversity in his costumes. Most of them look really cool. Overall he's a lot of fun. A really pleasant surprise.
Wolverine - 6.2/10
In the videos, I thought he looked kinda boring to play, but once I got my hands on him, he was actually pretty cool! His attacks are satisfying both visually and audibly and I like the unique grabs and combos he can do. He's not an amazing character but he's not bad either

I like his dialogue too and it's nice to hear his signature "bub!" as always. One thing I do find a little... 'ugly' is his fall down animation and his sprite when he's on the ground looks like he got flattened by a steamroller or something :S It's probably just me but it stands out a little weirdly.
Red Hulk - 6/10
Like War Machine, Red Hulk is different enough from regular Hulk to be worth playing

There are a couple of times where I notice he uses the same moves as Hulk but they make sense and it's not too bad. Again, I won't play him much because he's not my kind of character but he's well made nontheless
One thing I did spot is that for a couple of his moves it sounds like he uses regular Hulk's voice, which sounds weird because Red Hulk's lines are much deeper normally. One of them is an aerial attack I think. And I think his Special (which is the same as Hulk's) also uses regular Hulk's voice. I wasn't sure if it was intentional or an oversight.
Abigail Brand - 5.8/10
This one surprised me because I thought she would be much more fun and easier to play than she actually is. Her combos and grab moves look great, but she seems to get knocked down an awful lot and some of her moves leave her very vulnerable. The grab move where she flips over the enemy's head and unleashes fire on them should knock down surrounding enemy's too. The move looks like it has more range than it actually does. Almost every time I use that, I get hit and knocked down immediately afterwards by nearby enemies. Although it's tricky to master her spacing at first, Gun Mode is pretty good and I especially like the fact that the game remembers your chosen ammo at all times. I also like that she immediately switches to Hand-to-Hand Mode when she runs out of ammo, so she is not vulnerable. I think she will just take time to get the hang of but she's another of those characters where I'd rather play someone easier to use.
Tigra - 7.2/10
Tigra is a LOT of fun to play, as I hoped she would be. The sound effect for her regular claw attacks is SO satisfying on the ears and both of her specials are great fun to use. Her grabbing moves, especially her throws, look great and I love how acrobatic they are. Like Black Cat, I was hoping for more variety in aerial attacks (she's a cat after all) but overall the majority of her moves are just great. I love how good her Hellcat palettes look and the alternate special is decent. Her Avenger Power is very nice but a little tricky to line up sometimes and I keep getting the wrong enemy, especially in boss fights, lol.
By the way, her section on your website is incomplete. Her grab moves are not listed and neither is her alternate special in Hellcat form
One universal complaint I have for all characters are the 'hold attack for 3 seconds' moves. I NEVER use them. In Streets of Rage, for example, those moves were a LOT easier to pull off and 'charge up' during other moves, but in this, I feel like I hold the button for 4-5 seconds and STILL nothing happens. I know this isn't the case of course but I definitely think it could be reduced to 1 and a half or 2 seconds. In a game this fast-paced you don't have time to hold down a button for so long and it's not worth the trouble since the moves themselves aren't amazingly powerful or anything. It's much easier and quicker to use a regular move or special.
Overall, there is not a single straight up 'bad' character. All of them are good in their own way and definitely worth trying out. Even the characters I only scored 5, I will still play them occasionally and I'm sure for some people they have better potential
I guess I'll end on characters that would be nice to see in the next build, even though that's really far away

Spiderwoman of course, since you said she was quite far into creation and she looked really nice in-game as an NPC. I imagine her to be like Tigra/Hellcat, with Jessica Carpenter's version as an alternate colour with different specials.
Also Black Widow is a must because she's the only main Avenger missing and she appears when the game is loading but she's not in the game, lol. In First Alliance 2 she was awful, almost as bad as Hawkeye, but if you can do to her what you did to Hawkeye in the new demo then that would be amazing. I believe in you!
Some more X-Men could be cool. Jean Grey and Cyclops perhaps, and Collosus could be the next 'slow powerhouse' character. I'd really love Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat too, since she does appear in the movies but everyone seems to ignore her. She's apparently playable in ZVitor's new game, but only for like one stage and she doesn't have many moves (kinda like a playable NPC) which was really disappointing. I imagine her to be like Vision in terms of moving around the stage by phasing.
It would be nice to see Scarlet Witch alongside her brother too, and since I saw her sprite on like page 1 of your original topic, I was curious about how she would play.
Anyway, I've taken up waaay too much time here XD lol. I hope this was somewhat useful though. I know it's important for developer's to get feedback so I like to be as thorough as I can.
Hope you're enjoying your break and that you have a great New Year
