A project that I have been working on and off for like, 13 years.... "Castlevania Waltz of Sorrow". It has 3 game modes, a level up system, over 50 stages, a lot of secrets, branching paths, hidden paths, hidden items, and huge stage maps!

20 years After Soma defeated Chaos, Mina went under a deep sleep. No one knows what happened to her, and there's no known cure. Soma takes it upon himself to get answers....
Completion Status 99% Done

what is left to do ?
Not a whole lot.... Lately, I have been testing the game modes. After I made the 1st pak, I found a lot of errors that wouldn't start the game, or load a stage. (I need to make sure that all of my branches work too). I have also been messing with new game modes as well. I just added a Tag Team Mode similar to Bloodstained, I have it scripted to have separate Hp and Mp for both players. In addition to that, I'm working on a Progression Boss Rush Mode. I work on it everyday and upload for beta testers, (from what they say, it's nes hard) it'll take some time to beat. Once it's good, I promise that I will upload it on here, and I'll keep updating it.

first demo perhaps.
you'll have feedbacks ans perhaps tweaks that can be done more easily.
99% could be the right moment.

Ok.... try it out at 99%. I will be updating it daily....

This new update allows the player to whip in multiple directions like SNES CV4, it has an improved tag team mode, and removed one hit kill on jumping bosses. I haven’t heard much feedback lately, so I must be doing something right!!!!! I will continue with more game play updates, add more photos, and strategy guide videos. (Because some ppl don’t respect learning a hard snes game to perfection anymore….)

wow 2.3 GB!
it can certainly be optimized.
What make's the demo so heavy?

I had a quick look. Tumbnail.dbs left in the folder, massively bloated music files with baked in loops, lots of orphaned assets that don't do anything - Ex: There's a 300+MB pak file sitting in Misc folder.

The whole project could be easily brought down to ~100MB with some cursory optimizatios and cleanup.

I see, just more housekeeping.... But it's not a demo! lol It's the whole game! I thought that I mentioned that....

It's not a demo.... Honestly, I don't care if it's 2.3 GB. (Because most games have a bunch of unused content.) I'm not here to be perfect on space, I'm here to make near perfect gameplay. I don't want to spend time looking for more unused files to delete.... :( If you all can tell me a good reason as to why I will consider it.

Demo or not, basic housekeeping is basic housekeeping. Asset size is a known quantity, and OpenBOR is extremely efficient when it comes to module size / content ratio. Even members who are not technically adriot are aware that bitmap assets are on average ~2KB each, sounds tend to hover ~20KB, and music files ~5MB. So... unless you have a demonstrably good reason or reputation, any project pushing more than a few hundred MB doesn't read as "lots of content", it reads as either "doesn't know what they're doing", or "didn't bother with the basics".

Fair or not, that's a very poor impression right out of the gate, and they're probably not going to bother looking closer.

No disrespect.... Like I said I don't care, I made a good game. Those are small issues.... lol I'm not like you guys, big deal! What players who aren't techy don't care about that.... They care about game play! lol I will continue improving and uploading, lol thanks for your input!

That's bad assumption to make! Tell you what.... I will go start this on another platform, and you can hear about about how much people like playing it later.... I won't remove any of you from the credits either. Thanks... I will keep improving and uploading to completion.

I was starting to write a detailed breakdown of the game, but I can see how that would go.

So... You do you friend. And by all means go on and do it somewhere else. The whole "I don't care" mantra while proving very much otherwise is done to death. I'm going ahead and cutting this nose off at the neck right now before things get more out of hand - 10 day mute. Hopefully you'll learn to take advice, because there's much worse than me waiting for you out there.
