The Mithrarin. He has a little flying sidekick character who shoots weak projectiles at enemies. His special move can amplify those projectiles as well as those of his allies.  He can also double jump and then dive down on foes.

Interesting idea. Am I correct in assuming this is based off of Dust: An Elysian Tale? Do you have any Final Fantasy-styled sprites of a character that resembles the one in Dust? I've already begun working on at least one non-human playable character (I'll show her off when she's ready!), so I don't mind the idea of including a second one if it's interesting enough.

While I'm here, I want to talk about an update to the game. Previously in this and the original ClaFan, the main Adventure Mode was available from the start. This is no longer the case. Now, you must unlock Adventure Mode by first completing a new mode: The Prologue.

The Prologue is a short story that introduces your character to the world of ClaFan Advanced. It begins with you riding a ferry to Rookheim, the starting town in Adventure Mode. While on the ship, you make an acquaintance, and then adventure ensues. Once you complete The Prologue, you're free to explore the world in Adventure Mode like you would have before.

Part of the reason I added The Prologue is to give you guys a more immersive experience--so you felt like you were part of the world, even if the goal of the game is to let you form your own story through exploration. Additionally, I made it to introduce players to the new quest system that I alluded to in the old thread about this game. I promised that quests would be more involved than the ones featured in the original ClaFan, and I'm holding myself to that promise.

Yes, this class is based on that game. But the sprites haven't been made yet.

EDIT: I have just found a base for him.

Nice. Work on that, and let me know when you're done with it.

In other news, I began working on the next "world map" area.

It's a jungle. It'll be a smaller "world map" area than the others, but I'm planning for it to have its fair share of content. A few exploration areas, a village or two, etc.

Also, when you travel there at nighttime, you'll be treated to much more surreal visuals.

It's been years, so I really don't know which demo was the latest. When I have a moment I'll edit this post with the Dropbox link to my latest private version of it. It'll be full of test levels and unfinished bits, but at least you'll see everything I was working on.

EDIT: Here. You'll notice the filename is "FQ2," that's my code name for it. All of my OpenBOR projects have code names.

Thanks NickyP, I'm sorry to hear that you was unable to finish this game, because it's looks very good to be honest and it has that action RPG aesthetic which I love the most. But I do appreciate you sharing the content you made so far, thanks again my friend. 😊

Hi, this is my first message on ChronoCrash. I really enjoyed ClaFan and ClaFan Advanced, even if the latter is only an alpha release. I'd go as far to say they are probably my favourite OpenBOR games, and utilise ideas I've not seen in any other games.

One thing that concerns me though is that the latest demo here (FQ2) I can not find anywhere else, either on this site or the wider internet. I hope there is a way to preserve this, as I am worried it may become 'lost media', which would be sad because it's absolutely fantastic, and I really hope others get the chance to play.

Could perhaps the link at the top of the page be updated to this version? (if that's possible even; pardon my ignorance but I don't know how these things work).

All the best, and love your work!

@Rice ♡ the Dropbox link still works, I just tested it myself. I really appreciate your thoughts, and it's cool to know that my goofy ideas resonated with people out there! I say this often, but I really do want to work on a new ClaFan one day... my problem is I'm notorious for starting awesome projects and never finishing them! 😅
