Canceled Dreams of Rage

Project is halted prior to completion and will not receive further updates.
Greetings, everyone!  I've been lurking on the forums for a few months now, learning as much as I can about the Openbor engine,  and I've got to say what an awesome community you have here.  I figured it's finally time to, officially, say hello and show you all the Mod (my very first Mod) I've been working on;  Dreams of Rage.

I've always been a fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series (to the point of unhealthy obsession) and wanted nothing more than a fun game that pits you against Krueger.  The NES game was all the fans ever got from the franchise, so I figured someone needed to step up.

I'm still in the very early stages of development (Openbor is a lot to take in) and have been doing a large amount of custom sprite work (mainly player characters), so there's still a long, long way to go, but I'm pretty happy with what I've accomplished so far.

Here is a little video of what I've got so far..... https://youtu.be/Y9cKgLLjZUQ

Thank you for taking the time to view my stuff.  I hope you all enjoy!

Very nice custom sprite work the mod looks great so far keep up the good work.

As a kid i was scared of Freddie lol but the idea of the kids having powers in their dreams should work good in your mod.

Your project looks great!
Custom sprites/graphics are always welcome.

First, I loled at the old school "BOR era" title something of rage, or rage of something

Anyway, I hope you'll hang on and progress in this very promising project!
Keep it up

Looks sweet!

One thing you should know - looks like you're drawing special effects right onto the main sprites (glowing hands for example). You should really avoid doing that. Draw the effects separately, and you can bind them back on later.

This will make your life so much simpler in the long run - not to mention look much, much better. With the effects separated, you can then apply OpenBOR's suite of graphical effects on them independently... IOW, the glow can have transparency, tinting, its own color palettes, etc.

Thank you, everyone!  I appreciate the great reception.

Damon,  thank you for the solid advice.  That'll make things much easier on me and open up a lot more options.  Awesome tip to point out, especially while I'm still in the early stages.

Miru, the souls are attacking because Freddy has complete control of his past victims.  I was, actually, planning on using that angle later in the game with NPCs converted to your side.

Compliments. Animations and graphic are simply beatiful.
Now I'm curious to see the moves you will add. And yes, I realize this is the hard part!
Good work.

When I first saw that, I thought it was going to be boring, but no, it's very excellent that you got custom sprite work and all that jazz. I like how it's going with its environment so far. :) Quite entertaining though. Looking forward to updates, man.

I've got the backgrounds for level one mostly finished up.  Much of the interior parts of level one are screen grabs from the actual Dream Warriors movie.  I'm trying to make the colors a bit drastic (adds to the dreamy surrealism).  Also working on jumping for the player.

Love them! Remember to use multiple layers in some areas to add depth. They look eerie, love them!

I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on the mod, but there is progress.  I've managed to implement Bloodbane's slamscript (Thanks Bloodbane) and get a foundation of my first boss.  The levels have been given darkening layers thanks to the suggestions and assistance of some of the other members.

I've started  work on level two as well, so I can ultimately start work on implementing White Dragon's serpentine script for the second boss.

Stay tuned for more.

The mod is shaping up nicely.  Freddie suprised me as he was so huge it reminded me of turtles in time with the oversized shredder as the last boss.

Keep up the good work.
