Cool, but I need a vote. 1 to 3 based on which games you wanna see the most, and 2 games can get the same vote.
Joe - #
Adam - #
Jim - #

I should put that in the post.  :P

Well, the votes are in guys
[Joe - 11][Adam - 12][JimJ - 13]
THIS GAME'S WINNER IS:
Earthworm-Jim-2.jpg

GROOVY

Dramatics aside, I should account for a discrepancy with one of the votes given they gave the lowest vote to the game they had the most interest in, but then that costs Adam the most votes and ties him with Joe, given them both 9, and Jim losing just 1 point, giving him 12, so Jim still wins regardless.

Even though not too many people voted, this was just to see what kind of project people were the most interested in seeing, but I didn't think the votes would be as close as they were, so my plan for the losing games will be different then what I first had planned. First thing's first, gotta start coming up with what I'll use for Jim's campaign that'll fit my ideas.

very good , i'm glad Jim won.

I suspect that the n64 game (i have not even played it) is going to be an underrated gem...
or at the very least its going to have very unique & memorable elements.
SO i suggest for you & people who collaborate with you to give it a go, with emulation & save states to shorten your time.

you could even dump textures & use them to construct your levels

Funny you mentioned that game, I've had the urge to play it for a while and might just do it since I'm done playing the Megaman X collection. I had the 3D game as a kid but never got past the horror world because I could never find the 1 marble I needed, IIRC.

Anyway, I've been giving a lot of thought to the levels I want to use, but it's based on my idea of how I think Earthworm Jim should've turned out, mixed in with other stuff because it's OpenBOR, lol.

Well a great deal of time went into this level!  ;)
Recently working with Saturn emulation, which took years, I noticed the background for Anything but Tangerines from Earthworm Jim 2 had a completely different background for the Sega Saturn then it did for the Genesis, so I ripped all the parts to it, plus the panel you walk on for a BGLayer. Much cleaning and piecing together followed, get the size right, and using and editing the panel I used for the Sega Brawlers for a much longer level, though Jim is still using the speed from Sonic Revolution so getting through wont take long, but hey, that's what enemies are for.  ;)

I see , , can you try & use elements from both games?

example i see the green planet , this green planet can still be featured in front of the huge one with less parallax.

Also, aren't the Snes BG sprites better than the genesis but less good than the saturn's?

Also , your Jim game is a shooter like the original? or will it keep the platforms relatively thin??

In that case, please try to use as many parallax layers as you can, if i decide to do a 3D conversion it will look fantastic

I'm mainly doing a lite remake of the original, basically using stages and music I thought would fit better then what we got in Jim 2, but I thought about using elements from the original.

I don't know much about parallax. I think I did it once in Sonic Revolution with water but that was it, I'd rather spend more time on the mod itself, but if there's some techniques on it or something I can think about it.

Never looked into the SNES port TBH, just the Sega ports.

It'll mainly be shooting, but the way it was handled in Bucky'O Hare or that one Alien arcade game that was a little like Contra.

Still iffy on the parallax thing, and I don't even know if it can be applied to most of the stages I've planned on using. Forgot to mentioned that I planned out some stages and accidentally went over board and came up with more then I originally wanted. Since this was meant to be a small project, I don't plan on those stages being too complicated by design.

MMmmmm...

well parallax is not that hard to do, with some of the graphics some work has to be done to transform them into multiple layers.

SO if you find that ewj2 has multiple layers , don't merge them instead make layers

if you unpack nightslashers X, you will find parallax examples in level 1, elevator level, dracula boss level, the trash hangar (it has the most layers).

hangar its the best because it uses lots of values, erase enemy lines & explore it & you will get a better idea of what those values mean

you will also find Gimp files so you can explore how the layers where made & broken up

reply 2 instead if edit:

based on the picture you shared , i can can see at least 11 potential layers of parallax

The platform, the stuff immediatly behind the platform ,the mouth tongue looking thing, blue mountain ridges 1 , blue mountain ridges 2, water, green planetoid, far off riges, giant red planetoid, , sun's corona, clouds, blue sky, sun ball
