Hello all,

We've definitely taken in a lot of feedback and reworked the gameplay and overall vibe of the game. We focused on Stages 1-3 at the moment, but plan on continuing updates until we get a completed product. Would love your feedback so far:

Changes:
Changed gameplay with updated moveset that includes instructions.
Removed tutorial stage
Revamped Stages 1-3
Updated Yusuke to match art style
Added Rock Lee
Updated Music
Added Transformations to Deku, Goku, and Luffy

Things to do:
Add transformations to Naruto/update sprite to JUS
Add transformations to Yusuke
Hisoka and many others
Tighten up Character select screen
Stages 4-6
Tanjiro

It's a major, marked improvement over the original release, and I'm enjoying it so far. I still do have some suggestions due to the extended system in place:

* Vertical/Diagonal dashes. The Horizontal dash itself is already a good move, but expanding it could revolutionize gameplay further. I suppose you'd have to level up to get vertical dashing, though. Maybe even air dashing? When you're in neutral, it could perhaps be a block.
* More air combat options, because a lot of the series represented had a lot of air combat. Probably a jumping power move.
* Ikakku seems to be a mini-boss of some kind, and should have a lifebar display. Same with Buggy, and he and Cabaji could be spawned simultaneously with one lifebar atop the other. (see Blob and Pyro in Marvel Infinity War) Bosses in general would be better with their proper voices.
* The Frieza clone enemy seems to have misaligned projectiles.
* I'd make Kizaru show up alongside one of Piccolo's sons, probably pushing the king to a later stage. Stage 3 itself, among others, could become a multi-part stage with bosses at the end of each section.
* This doesn't go into character requests, even. I feel like Ochaco should get a shot in the roster. Heck, Aang from Avatar would be a cool secret character.

Thank you for mentioning the verfical dashing because I meant to add that on the upcoming list of updates to come. Yeah Frieza needs to be updated as well. Thanks for letting me know. I actually meant to not use that enemy but it managed to slip through anyway haha. These are great suggestions. We were wondering if we wanted the mini-boss to have the same kind of lifebar in the middle since that was usually for the stage boss. So your comment makes sense and has helped us on that decision.

So you're saying Kizaru could be the stage 3 boss and the king to a later stage? Hmmmm.... And I'm liking that multipart stage idea....hmmmm

Consider them added to the list! Yeah we realized that the possibilities are endless with the anime tie-in, and I love the idea of air combos. I was looking at that Double Dragon game for ideas on that as well actually.

These ideas are GREAT, Miru! Expect new push this fall. So I'm def gathering ideas that they can work on.
 
I have another idea! Maybe bosses could get special dialogue if they face a player character from their series.  Mini-bosses could also get one line of dialogue before fighting them. Perhaps even combine the first two stages into one two-part level? I see them meshing with each other well. Perhaps a final area where the subway stops for a boss battle.

Pretty much everything that everybody said lol, I kept trying to dodge up and down but it wasn't there!!  Also I was surprised to see Frieza as a regular enemy, I though he was the boss at first!!  Also I was trying to pull off some air combos as well but couldn't!!

It's quite a good start man, you really have something special here!!  Looking forward to the updates bro ;)

Thank you for doing this! And yeah those are definitely coming in the next update for sure! haha Yeah I've gotten hounded about that dodge up/down haha. One thing I also noticed in your gameplay is that I need to add a pause for the energy blasts, so that people get hit from it. So  thank you for that gameplay!
 
Been playing this again, and I noticed a lot of enemies lack a shadow to note where they are, I especially noted this in the subway stage. The tutorial stage could be replaced with a training mode, which is a lot more fun.

Hey guys, so the students of the Fall 2021 Workshop have definitely been working hard on this upcoming patch to be released dec 15th.

We listened to a lot of the feedback and added accordingly:

The ability to dodge vertically
Training Area
Finished Naruto with Kyuubi transformation
Finished Ichigo with Bankai transformation
Sonic
Added transformation to Yusuke

Made move set a little more uniform:
Action Move list:
Action: Power Level 2 – Drains 10 MP
Up, Action: Power Level 3 – Drains 20...

Digital Brilliance Hour updated Ogre's Mayhem with a new update entry:

0.9.3 Released!


Patch 0.9.3 has now been released and available for download! Would love your feedback on the changes made! We're still gathering feedback to make things even better in the spring when we run our workshop again. There's definitely some more work we plan to do that we didn't get the work into the patch that will come in the next one.

Hmmm...

The way you coded in the dodge now makes the down, down, action move unusable. Maybe either look into how Kratus's Streets of Rage 2X uses its dodge button, or remap it to down, forward, action?
 
We actually changed it to down, action instead of down down action. But we could look into other combinations, but it should be down, action for now. So only one down or up.

This is our latest release from our Spring 2022 Workshop. A LOT of work put into this release and more to actually come. So please leave your feedback and comments so that we can add it to our list for the Fall work session!

Thanks a lot @danno! Yeah the feedback from the community has also been helpful for the students to see that sometime it's the little things that make a game better. So they were able to witness this. We definitely still have more tweaks, but we definitely feel like we're in a better direction for sure.
