Since Jhfer joined the team, this project has made a lot of progress and I think it's time to show some things :)

The game has several new playable characters, including Leonardo das Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I'm really enjoying the result.

This is one of the new levels, themed around Double Dragon, where we'll face different enemies and bosses from that series.

edit: the Abore enemies have their head too small. Despise being bigger than the other enemies, their head is even smaller than the other enemies

I think Jhfer got the original head from DD, so maybe we will need to make it bigger.

The look of the crossover between Double Dragon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is definitely exciting to see!!! It's nice to see that J/2P-based enemy included there, though he is not from the DD series. He's a nice/perfect fit as a side-scrolling enemy in a DD level.

Richter is gonna be one of the bad-awesome (cool; bad***) characters to see in action! Exciting as well!!!

Hahah. That "GO" cursor has been there for ages since his first release. I see you notice Dan being my favorite character from the BOR anniversary topic we discussed. 😄

Yeah, but that stage isn't an exclusive DD stage - it mixes enemies from other franchises too. And the chapter ends on a place where you start to have KOF characters also :)
 
I can only recognize: Lotus Master, Davy Jones, Rugal Bernstein, Devil Jin and Dracula. That hook statue reminds me to Metal Shark Player though.
And you almost got everyone right :)
They are;
Lotus Master (Martial Masters), Blade Man (Mega Man DOS), Davy Jones, Rugal, G-Mantle (old SNK mascott), Devil Jin and Warachia.


Started to improve Balrog. You can dodge and poke Balrog like a bullfighter. But fail to do so and he hits you painfully. His Turn Punch has several levels, each with different speed and damage.
 
So we would have:

  • A - Attack
  • A2 - Block
  • J - Jump
  • S - Special
  • A4 - Power (not A3 thanks to how A3 button is placed on Android)
I am making some tests about this and I accidentally had discovered that OpenBOR do let you use multiple inputs for the same movement.

So I am using this and it works:
anim freespecial
com A + A2 freespecial
com D D A freespecial
loop 0

With that, people can choose if they want to use the traditional motion input or the simplified input and I can have the best of both worlds - my son is used to make input commands, but my daughter never got them right and this always put her away of playing my games with me. Now we wil be able to enjoy the game :)

I thought I was using A2 to block, but looks like I ain't - block is doing by the Special button (which I need to rename to Block), since the special move / breakout still uses the old attack+jump to perform. And most players doesn't use it anyway, only in rare cases.

So I think its a win-win situation :)

Wait… didn’t know you can declare the freespecial command inside the animation 😱

I knew it this guy is from mega man games, but DOS version 😖 no wonder I've been looking for it since yesterday and can't find it lol 🤭

heheheh I like obscure characters, and Blade Man was one of the best designs from that terrible DOS game.
I always wanted to bring him to Mugen or OpenBOR - I think I have more sprites for him, but sadly not a full sheet.

Some news:

New Stage and Ryu
This is a new stage I made for the "hell mode" - a mode where you fight a bunch of enemies and bosses and I've been fixing Ryu (yeah he is using his SF1 colors, maybe we could smartpal his feet)

But I dunno if we keep him as an alternate mode, because we do want to change his sprites for his SF6 look (courtesy of Ulisan)

Maybe the classic version could be an alterante mode for him? I dunno. Specially because, in the game plot, you would unlock Ryu after beating Evil Ryu, and I dunno if it would makes sense to have a SF6 version unlocked after you beat Evil Ryu.

Commands:

I've added simple inputs on the game, while keeping the old ones too.
So each player will choose to perform whatever they think is better :)

A - Attack
A2 - Attack2 (renamed to SKILL)
J - Jump
S - Block (renamed to BLOCK)

Special moves
A2 - old D,F+A
D+A2 - old D,U+A
A+A2 - old D, D, +A
A+J - Old D, D + J

New mechacnic - Dodge (consumes just a little MP)
S+UP - Dodge up
S+DOWN - Dodge down
