Streets of Rage 2X

In Progress Streets of Rage 2X By Kratus 2.3.1

No permission to download
The project is currently under development.
Gary: SOR1 route has great soundtracks, I like those for stages 1 and 8. CosmoBuggi has done a great job creating some custom musics for Nightmare mod (mod that will come in few weeks...). May I suggest to work on a music for Tracker's Lair route?:
Thanks Davpreec , one more time, for this playthrough ;) .

kimono - Trackers Lair will be in there, for sure (as far as I can remember, that's in the Streets of Rage 3 soundtrack)

I only intend to help Kratus and the team with this, I don't want this soundtrack to be included in any other mods.

As for the work so far, here's the final take on Streets of Rage 1 Intro (Ready for compression). The audio file sounds crisper than Youtube. Much better quality.

I've added a the rest of the Piano element, I intend to try and stick to the original feel of the music as it was intended, just with enhanced quality and some noir takes on some melodies.

I'll be starting off with the entire Streets of Rage 1 soundtrack (including boss music and character select etc). I'll need 2 months for the Streets of Rage 1 soundtrack. After that, I plan to move to Streets of Rage 3, which will include Trackers Lair.

Kratus Let me know if there's any particulars in the loops or segments, I plan to stick to the original audio map from the Genesis series.

Kratus really glad you like it Kratus, much like your idea, it can't quite achieve the originality of the game, but we certainly gave it some stregnth.

I'm a huge fan of the Bombergames music, but I've overplayed the tracks, still overpaying them tracks from when they released remake. Also, your teams version of the game deserves and needs it's own soundtrack to go with the quality, it will make the game next level serious in the openbor arena.

Any specifics just ask, I can create segments too, but will need to collaborate with you if you want these tracks to be separated into boss music or if you want me to create trigger points for the routes.

I'd be honoured to be on the credits for the music here. If you allow it, I can commit to the entire soundtrack, I'd need atleast 6 months, but I hope there would be no other musicians involved, the style of the music would be better as an entire piece. I'm gonna call the soundtrack 'Streets of Rage, the Cj Loop'

Glad to start talks here Kratus, you started a masterpiece.

Cj Lee
I'm glad to read this buddy. I'm always opening space to other people's creations in SOR2X, and for music I will do the same.
Any content you create I will always give the credit to you, in-game and in all blogs/pages/social networks etc.

The only playlists I'm using are the original ones and the Bombergames version. About the involvement of other musicians, in fact I had some offers but they haven't fully playlists yet. I talked with Iceferno some months ago but after the SOR Remake v5.2 update, it seems that he declined. Another musician is making some tracks for the game but he doesn't have too much time and it can take some months to be ready.

Don't worry with the loops, you can follow the original ones. I had some knowledge of how to manage music/sounds in Sound Forge, I can edit them after, if needed.

kimono
About the Tracker's Lair, I'm using both "SMS Power" and "SMS Power2" from SORR. But it will be good if Cj Lee makes music based on the GG version.

Kratus I'll check out the GG soundtrack, I'm not massively familiar with it.

I reckon I'd need 2 months per game, 6 months in total to get an entire soundtrack done, I aim to keep the styles and techniques to create the music the same, that way it will sound more integrated.

Thats good about the credits, I'll be putting the project through my own company on creative commons, as long as my company is on the credits if I make it, it's all good. We'd need to talk later on in the line around the politics, but I'll get some progress on the material first.

kimono No worries buddy :)

Gary: I hope that Kratus lends me a small place in his project, if he accepts me to be a part of his team :) .
The Game Gear music is Spin on the Bridge for the first part of Tracker's Lair (at 13:07):
And Too Deep for the second part of this level:

I plan to work on another special alternate routes that we find in Master System and Game Gear and put some specific boss / prototypes characters with the same quality as a Tracker's Lair.

pepodmc No probs, here's the tracks so far...

sor1stage1 - https://youtu.be/fFvvT2lVXe0

I'll be taking another listen tomorrow to ensure the tones are pitch perfect, it's difficult to bend the notes when trying to pay homage to the Genesis/Sega Mega drive sound.

Though daze I've out done myself with the smashing brass long, this soundtrack is going somewhere.

kimono Just managed to have the time to listen to these game gear tracks, I see what you're saying now.

If you plan to include the level in the routes, for sure, I'll mix this one too.

I'm trying to stick to the Genesis sound, enjoying the quality of it's pitch. The master system/Game gear chip had different sounds, but for exclusive levels like this, I can try and emulate the Genesis sound with the melody of the track. Through only for levels that aren't included in the Genesis version of the series.

I'll make Tracker Lair (game gear version) the next project, though it might not be till the weekend now guys, as I have other commitments.

Thanks for listening 🙂👌

this is from what I can remember, the genesis version. I'd prefer to stick to this one, thoughts?

kimono (just doing some late night listening to these vids you've mentioned, hence the many posts).

The game gear one you mentioned (13:07) is possible to write, but it would be a remix, due to the lack of layers in Yuzo's loop.

I'm trying to stick to the original sound, I might save the game gear sound for later in the series, that way, it might blend better with the genesis soundtrack.

You did remind me of the streets of rage 2 track thoigh, I'm gonna take a crack at this one next all...

I think that the GG music version of the "Spin on the Bridge" and "Too Deep" are a bit different from the Genesis version, even if is using the same name. Will be good if we have a remastered version more close to GG.

Kratus they're extremely different tracks. I'll just do both, but like I say, the GG version will be very minimal.

In musical terms, I'm sticking to a logic to keep the entire soundtrack integral, but when I write from the GG version, there's gonna be more Cj Lee than Yuzo, which is what I'm trying to avoid.

I want to stick to Yuzo's melody with a bit of my owl ad lib, the GG music will sound good, but they'll only be a few layers.

I'll do both tracks next, trying to stay loyal to the Genesis take on Yuzo's masterpiece.

Any further talks will have to be by email guys, the website doesn't play ball here with me...
