The project is currently under development.
After testing it, I have no surprise.
It's just really good!!
There is something special about this game.
Not exactly the original SOR feeling (because of music and graphics), but a new kind of style.

Also I want to conratz for the very nice edit job on 3D model graphics.
Your intelligent palette system (or CS) is very good.
The way you make new details like glasses to appear is stunning.

I still point some thing that can evoluate.
few of the moves (regular attacks) seems a little sluggish (particulary on Axel)
Even his weapon mode activation is really slow.
This is just a matter of few frames...

Also sometimes enemies have weird attack range that make them miss you.

But these are only small details

Keep it up.

I played the game last night and it was so much fun. I did encounter a glitch though, one of the enemies got stuck floating above a bench which kept me from advancing any further. Aside from that it so much fun, and the backgrounds and music were the best I've seen so far for an openbor game. In my opinion this game will be a huge hit someday, thanks MTrain.
 
Maybe it's just me, but seeing all of the  attributes  of Blaze with only 2 stars and Axel's with 3 star in strenght gives us the idea that she has no advantages in any one of the attributes...aesthetically

Anyways you clarified your reason to do so  ;D

Thank you, nedflandeurse) too bad that i have spent so much time to get all the process, that provide to minimize photoshop retouch. I think i can make a tutorial from 3d model to final sprite if some one interested in it.

D@rin, this still needs more tuning, to make every character unique. I am working on that, hope the result will be satisfying)

You showed Axel and Blaze wearing masks. Is there any reason for that?
Actually, i think, maybe, year ago i have post the comment in main thread about my signature. It was a little spoiler, you know, a sneak peak. I was hope someone take a look on it and ask me what is that? But no one asks :'(.... It is sad...      8) ;D :D Anyway, back to the question. Each character will have his own weapon, and mask is something to improve a weapon mode character appearance. Make it more brutal. This weapons our heroes will receive from Dr. Zan.
 
It's already being an enjoyable tour in your game . It's great we have this place to discuss about the making of it.

I'm following this game a long time ,since the beginning in the old Lavalit Place.
I'm an artist too.
I'm a former comic and manga designer. 
This game will be a masterpiece in the Openbor world. :D

I'm having the same emotion I had when I followed the prodution of the game "Streets of Rage Remake" again.
 
About Blaze move, I mean the running attack
Oh, i see. Agree, i will add attack frame in the animations beginning, because it is hard to aim.

About Axel multipunches, maybe is because I am always going down, up, front and maybe I activate a secret move.
it is still weird, because i cant get that bug to appear. It must be triggered only while grab and forward+attack

Just add the back punch
I never set accent on this move, so i just miss it. I think for the final release i add it, for the complete "classic pack"

My god that was an amazing demo you took me back in time but at the same time it felt fresh. I love the weapon activate ability.
Only thing I would like is for the jump kick to be less heavy, and to be able to do a running jump kick like in sor3.
But other then that AMAZING , I hope to see more one day and thanks for sharing all your hard work congrats :)

didn't expect someone was still working on another 'street of rage' with so high quality!!
I thought the SORR5 would be the last version forever.
I was playing last night and enjoying the 'Marvel First Alliance' and had decided to google about OPENBOR games and got into this site.
my favorite fighter was THOR he's extremy fast and strong and love his jump-kick technique !!  ;D

as for this demo I wish ALEX walk a little faster and the enemy should be smarter.
at some point I was boxing nothing and the enemy was not able to contact me however I could kill them.

once this project is finish hope you make a 'street fighter II' with so high quality graphics.  ;)

Hi Mtrain! Your album rocks! I had no idea you too were a Metalhead! \m/ Do you plan to include SOR3-Style gameplay? I mean with gradually filling power bars and disabled timer?

cause iam a very big fan of streets of rage hacks.

  I've played the demo and good work, I love the new graphics! :D

My suggestions:

1. Since it's SoR4, why don't you add running special ability? yep, as name suggests it's performed by pressing special while running. It's common ability in Denjin Makai series BTW. Since SoR has specific key for special, it would be great if SoR4 or your mod at least has it too :)
We can discuss with others about what will each character performs for running special. For now my suggestions for running special and forward+special are these:

Axel : The animation you use for his forward+special is best for running special. His forward+special should be his flurry punches
Blaze : Her forward+special is perfect. Her running special is her 3rd level running attack in SoR3 (she performs uppercut kick here). Up to you to include her slide finisher or not
Skate : His forward+special is his SoR2 one (jump up then air drill). His running special is his SoR3 one (moves forward with clawing arms)
Adam : His forward+special is power uppercut (similar to Duke's special from Burning Fight). His running special is running clothesline (similar to Haggar's running attack from Final Fight 3)
(no idea for others yet)

Oh yes, this ability is also available in Crime Buster v2.5. Do you want me to explain how to implement it? :)

2. I love the walk-out-of-door animations you gave to some enemies :). If you want to save some work making frames for this, my suggestion is to make a simple walk in (toward camera) WITHOUT darkening effect and use black rectangular entity with alpha 3 for the fade out effect instead. I call this entity as Shade
The idea is to have enemies walk passing through Shades and let those Shades do the darkening effect
You can reuse the walk in animation in other places such as walking out of doors or elevators

3. For demo it's okay to have so many enemies in 1st stage. For full game, I suggest reducing number of enemies so player won't get burned out in 1st stage. Yes, doing so will make players 'hungry' but players will get more 'food' in next stages ;)
Also try to introduce enemies in slower pace. For first stage, only have Electras as subboss and don't spawn her again until say 3rd stage. Same goes with Legio, maybe have him as subboss for 2nd stage and spawn him as regular enemies in 4th or 5th stage

Weapon mode is powerful :D. Blaze's weapon looks small but it packs quite a punch :) . Makes me wonder about the other's weapon mode
Wait a second, does this mean there won't be any weapon pick ups in game?

BTW I love the animations in background! The city feels more alive with those :D

For everyone interested, long time ago I downloaded first demo version of this game with different sprites and I re-uploaded it because I can't find it anymore (SoRonline.net is taken down, too bad, it had very useful informations about hacking SoR games). Here is link to this game SoRSS. Since this project doesn't seem to active, I decided to tell you about it, I hope you will enjoy it (it is still very interesting IHMO).

Also I recorded some gameplays when I downoaded this game from SoRonline.net in first place:


Also I separated soundtrack from this game (it is in .ogg format) and uploaded it as well sorssmusic.

You better should have asked the game's author before you have done that. And also before you will gonna do anything else to this game too. And yeah, if you can't find him that's your problem, just let the game alone please. You never know when Mtrain will be back anyway.

Sorry, I did not mean to do anything wrong. I just thought that people would interest this version of this game and it is not available anymore. I'm not going to use any of this game content for my projects anyway, I'm not that bad ::).

By the way it is a great mod and I would like to Mtrain finish it someday.

It's okay man, i know you are not a dad guy as i'm also not the police or something. I just though of saying what i think is the right thing especially for such great job Mtrain did and i do have a great respect of it.
In the end of the day everyone can do what ever he thinks is the right thing. I mean, you can do or post what ever you want, it's not my job to stop you anyone else and this was not my point anyway.  ;)
