Why is he staking around with no skates?Eddie Hunter
Basically, The creator just wanted to get rid of skates/rollerblade.Why is he staking around with no skates?![]()
Hello, I know this thread is very much dead, but I'd like to answer this commonly asked question. My idea was to have Eddie "skate" on his Ki (similarly to how Shiva slides on his). It's a technique I've seen a few characters do in other games. One I can instantly think of is a character named Tsuruhime from Sengoku Basara:Why is he staking around with no skates?![]()
I like the game and still play it occasionally, but I still prefer SOR2 to it.I still pop this game in when I am in a good mood! This is the best beat'em up ever made. I put in 768 hours on the PS4 version alone.
That's good. Can't go wrong with either game, but 4 pulls me more back in even more than 2 (which I have played a lot of). I thought it would never do that to me.I like the game and still play it occasionally, but I still prefer SOR2 to it.
Such as?SOR4 has some things that I hate in beat 'em ups, unfortunately.
- Right off the bat, if I were to use a 10/10 scoring system for the game, it would lose 2 points thanks to something I consider a crime in beat 'em ups: you can't run. For a game released in 2020, there's no plausible excuse. You simply don't.Such as?
You're not the first, and I get it. The forward + special attack and some blitz attacks (and the alternate ones, if you got the DLC and unlocked them in survival mode) act as either (sorta) dash attacks or gap closers. Plus, you're at least given invincibility frames when doing them. Of course, that is the point of the risk/reward system in place. Running was supposed to be in the game, but they removed and didn't want to make enemies into too much damage sponges. I would've preferred running, but I don't mind it not being missing in this title. Because it is balanced enough. I can pretty much S-Rank a majority of these stages on their hardest difficulty. The fact that only Cherry can run is as stupid as the fact that Max couldn't run in SOR2 - it's an artificial difficulty.
"Oh, but you couldn't run in SOR1," yes, but the game was released in 1991 and you had a 4:3 resolution.
This I don't mind and I find it hilarious. Makes for great combo and skill videos. There are some trick juggles that are hard to pull off though. This a YMMV type thing, as I've never seen many complain about this. Though if you want stricter combo system, then I suggest The TakeOver or Final Vendetta. Though they have their own exploits or game breakers that are almost just as bad. More so FV.SOR4 is the "beach ball effect" in a nutshell. You can combo the target over and over like those float balls we play at the beach
- The targets simply rebound on invisible wall just because yes. They aren't real walls - its just the camera edge. IOW, they rebound out of thin air
That one is more understandable. Though first boss is easy to exploit legit or otherwise for Diva to be a non-issue. I can no damage almost every single time.Overuse of super armor. The very first boss has super armor - and it doesn't even fit her body type.
For me, it's both. Though I will always appreciate the SOR2 love.Do I think its a bad game? Not at all. But its far from being the "best beat em up ever made" like some people claim
(this title goes to SOR2 btw)

That's fine. I made those recommendations of Final Vendetta and The TakeOver, because those are close to Bare Knuckle III/Streets of Rage 3 then Streets of Rage 2. Those two games are for those who prefer SOR3 over SOR2 on the gameplay front. Though FV is much weaker than The TakeOver or Streets of Rage 4. It's still better than Fight n' Rage to me.Bare Knuckle 3 for me.
I like SORR, but it did get redundant in a few areas and somewhat fanficy with one of the fan made characters.Sor remake
There was an art to carry dead enemies to the next screen to continue the hit counter. Us full stage hit/No damage runners had to get creative to get past the NO running allowed rule. This I don't mind and I find it hilarious. Makes for great combo and skill videos. Good times.Blaze 4 was the most expressive character during v05 & v07 patches. We had to learn how to bypass the combo protection by using her reverse defensive special to pivot into longer combo strings.
Running was supposed to be universal for everyone, but that got cut. SOR4 only seemed stiff, if you were playing as Axel in its first iteration. For some reason, he was slower than Adam (unless you used Axel's forward +air special as a gap closer) despite being the balanced guy. The first update fixed this.Nobody seems to mention that streets of rage 4 feels stiff. That could be from the long fluid animations??
Everyone has their preferences.I'm more a fan of how SOR X/Absolum plays because those games respond to my fast thinking.
The game does point how unfair mode is. At that point, it does become an invincibility spam, even when you know what to do and when to do it. It's nothing more than flex mode at this point. While for SOR 4 I need think ahead while enemies orbit around me 2x as I throw 2 punches on Mania Plus.
Thinking is required, but depends on what you're fighting. I didn't mindlessly spam every single encounter (though it can be hard not to do with certain characters). I did use regular and charged attacks plenty of times with thought or strategy in mind.V08 turned the game into Iframe defensive special and Iframe Blitz attack loops. No thinking required and that turned me into a terrible SOR 4 player.
I have not gotten to Absolum yet. I am busy with other games right now.SOR X/Absolum
