Are there any plans to bring back bosses from the NES version of TMNT 2?( Tora, Shogun, Traag, Granitor). Also shall we get to fight both Shredder AND Super Shredder?

Hello, First off I would like to congratulate you on your amazing work on TMNT: Shell Shocked ;D .Its A fantastic Module for OpenBOR and just what I wanted to find when a few weeks ago I first found OpenBOR.

When I first found OpenBOR this is exactly what I was thinking about doing, Remaking the TMNT arcade games and any other TMNT game like them.

Its grate that your remaking a game like TMNT III: The Manhattan Project because it really needs an update more then the two true arcade game.

I have never played TMNT III much, So I went and looked into it and was checking out whats too come when your game gets complete.I noticed some of the cool bosses like Dirtbag And the Mother-mousers and thought it would be fun to try and update them.

So this is what I've done with Dirtbag



I only have the walking frames done so far. If you like it I will work on the rest.

I know there is already a recolored version of him done by Cenobite 53 for his M.U.G.E.N game.I saw a link to it somewhere back in this post, but I dont like the look of it. It has Added "detail" that I think clashes with the Normal TMNT sprites.

I also thought I would try my hand at updating the Mother-mouser, but the original lacks in detail so much I dident think there was much I could do with it. So instead I tried making one from the normal mouser and a foot guy. It dosent look quite the same but I think it worked out good.



I made it by scaling the normal mouser up and fixing its look from the scaling. Then I took the legs from the TMNT:III mother mouser, and cut up a foot guy and layered him with the other pieces.

If you like the look of it I can try and make the rest of the frames for it.

I would like to help in anyway that I can.


I would also Like to ask if it would be ok for me to use your module to make the original TMNT The Arcade Game.

It would be like a add-on for your module and just have all the levels from The first Arcade game to go with all your characters. People would have to get your module and unpack it too play them until we can make it into a .pak file if your ok with that.

I have already started on it and have a beta of the first level.

I don't really know much about Openbor yet and i'm not much of a programmer.I'm more of a frankenstein programmer. I can cut up and rearrange stuff that's already there but can't hardly make anything from scratch.But in the end I can usually get stuff to work the way I want it too.

So there are some things in this level that are probably not done very well but i'm just learning this openBOR stuff and will probably redo some of this map after my skills are better and do things the right way. Like in the end of the map in april's room you cant see your shadow because of how I made the transport module for Rocksteady. That's just one thing I know I need to fix at some point.

So if your ok with me making a add-on for your module I'll start my own post for people to keep track of my work.

Your mod is really excellent for a novice.
I like the idea of old REMAKE levels and gladly I accept all the addon.

I also like your mother mouser who I'm willing to use.
As for Dirtbag, I see that sprite is a bit scratched.
I have to tell the truth. It cannot do with a re-coloring of the sprite. For me to be re-drawn.
The sprite must be very similar in quality to those like Bebop & Rocksteady to speak...

Since you're new, I want to list to you a few things I would change in your mod, to make you understand how I would do it:

1) The foot spawning of from the door I would do it differently:
do not draw the foot behind the door. separe things in two different entities.
look what I did in the beach level or the bridge level.
2) There arent bouncing balls. Get inspired by snowballs in my snow level.
3) Dont use just the downloaded background from network. In fact there is a flame still in the middle that jars a bit...
4) Beware of enemies groups! The 2 rodney must go out together at the end of the first level. They come out when all the foots were defeated.
5) Change the alpha value of the fire and smoke. That transparency dont really like ...
6) Missing animation where turtles come into the door to the April's room.
  Learn how to use the functions in lib_movements.c and do your own endlevelXX_anim.c
  This, however, is an advanced programming level (see endlevel1_anim.c for an example)
7) The shadow at the end of the room can be resolved with a sprite clipping of the Rocksteady transport and a change of setlayer.

Nice mod though, I thoroughly enjoyed! Good job SomeThingEviL!! ;)

Thanks for the kind words.I surprised myself with what I was able to accomplish.
I appreciate the info on how to do things better.
I hope to be as good as you at this someday.

I'll start working on making the rest of the Mother Mouser.I hope I can get it too look consistent from frame to frame.
 
Baxter is a very fun guy to play as. I wonder if in addition to the bosses and select enemies, if you will have playable TMNT allies like the Punk Frogs, Karai, etc in the mix.
 
heres a few ideas i came up with at previous times but i think you missed them dragon -

are you gonna include a stage with the turtle car mobile and have the guns on it and also include a stage with those flying cars

i was thinking for that bridge stage you could have the turtle mobile riding along side with the guns attached for a weapon.

include genesis stages as well which was in hyperstone and maybe remake tmnt 1 stages perhaps include some open beats of rage turtle stages

for the foot clan you could boost the gameplay a bit they could have those anchor weapons and climb on the top edges of the bridge also you could have someone standing in the boat with a gun which aims  at you with the gun aim effect


for the beach stage where the end is you could have the shredder sub appear like you see in the nes version of number 3 but i was thinking rocksteady and bebop could be on that sub before they jump on to the boardwalk and then after that shredder takes off but says you cant catch me slime balls and you chase the sub with your surfboards then hop on board the sub after but with great dffcuilty cause  theres guns and other traps on the entrance part

is number 2 ninja turtles gonna have the guns included

 
Ok i played the newest demo and i can see how challenging it is but fun at same time also i was thinking with the ice cream shop you could make it so you can enter shop and buy some items as a special or something keep up the good work man this is wanting me to play an actual game of it so far at least a couple of complete levels would be awesome.

So the Beach level will leave it as it is for now ..
The Bridge level becomes like the bridge level of TMNT III Manhattan Project with minor differences.
As for the climb, I'm going to do a new level with a brand new type of game very much like Battletoads!
As for the level of the turtle van, it's a great idea!
I certainly will do a bonus level where a player drives the van and the other players will have other roles (like shooting or stay in motion).
Now I am engaged in designing sprites unfortunately, but you've got a great idea! Thanks again for everything!

Hey Miru If your looking for levels to play with this mod your in luck, I'm working on remaking the Original TMNT Arcade game for Shell Shocked.I'm also remaking the exclusive maps from the NES version.

I have the first map from the arcade game done and the remake of the NES snow map done(still need to do a bit of polishing but there playable). I will be releasing a demo of my work tomorrow.

Edit:WOW looking at the hour, Its later then I thought.I guess it will be out later today then.

Which ally charas? The 2 characters with guns?
In that case I dont want for now to do a special weapon (like gun for turtles), to avoid the game becomes a shot'em up =)
Already I've done a bonus level (sky level) with guns and a van level becames a shot'em up level too..

Oh, I think I'll avoid to insert a shop in the game, otherwise it would change gender and it becomes something like D&D  ;D

i really feel like on those awesome times when the tmnt 80s was, and the times where konami released this games.

secondly, danielj99, your idea of a punisher and wolverine game is very good. i love the punisher original game... and they do a good pair of chars.

however, i will recomended you to add another character, "dead pool".

i really dont know if somewhere there will be sprites for him, but as you should know, soon a new movie of this super heroe will be released.

i never knew him, but i think he is interesting. since is like a kind of mix with the spiderman jokes and the punisher "bad milk" behaviour. ;)

so, him could make your game more followed for sure, since their movie will be released soon.

here are a crazy idea of mine for an stage on the game... ;)

frank and the others entered on a research lab, when the doors will be closed automatically suddendly.

then a tv screen shows a bad guy (maybe kingpin?) saying that that "the room will be closed until a big explosion will destroy everything!. muhahahaha!"

so then, they was forced to use a prototype of a time machine chamber in there...
(this will need to add they during one intro or text)

using it, they could escape the death, and destroy de dangerous time device too.

and meanwhile, they return to the exactly day when the frank castle family was brutally killed...

so this, will bring you the possbility of save all them, and create an alternate universe. where frank castle will live normally with their family...

after the central park battle, the team will use their past knodledge for know where and when will be united all the mafia families, including king pin. for destroy them all also in that alternate future.

later, you will need to search others for help you, in order to get back to your own time and universe.


that will be possible to be maked on many ways...
for example, asking for help to the avengers, or fantastic four, using a black hole or using a mini-time warp device stolen, and that must be connected into one faster vehicle that can reach the more faster speeds.

for example, this will leaving you stealing a rocket, just before the nasa will launch it for a moon mission...

and that will leave you fighting venom or massacre, that could be hidding the ship, keeping you fighting before the rocket will explode with a bomb, or will reach the sun, meanwhile you try to beat the boss and recover the ship direction, for increase the speed, and can get back in time. before the rocket will explode.


i know.... my idea is crazy!. LOL  ;D ;D but there you have a curious and very rare plot for an alternative way on your game, if you like... ;)


however, notice that it will require can take many sprites for these things. including these central park enemies from the punisher game, king pin, venom or massacre, and a rocket scenario too.
