so, it all started with the users showmaker and esn23 sending me some sprites from weaponlord.
i've always liked the art of that game, being a huge barbarian fan myself, but never really been good at the game myself, and never bother to try to rip something from it.
anyway, with the Korr sprites i've begun working on them, studying some cool combos and special moves, and feel really inspired. So i've looked at the game and tried to rip something myself, and oh boy if it's simple ripping from that game!
i've found a movelist online and start ripping, and in the matter of 20 minutes i've ripped a full complete character. i've re-ripped Korr, and then ripped Bane and Zorn. actually i've just finished ripping Zarak sprites, and begun coding him. then i will pass to the women, for once here it is a game in which the women are not some stupid underage girls with big eyes, but actually muscular, agressive women, like fighters should be, and i like them! :D

in the meantime, here it is some videos. of course if you have suggestions feel free to tell me, in particular if you think about some games from which i can take enemies from. the stages couldn't be a problem.

These moves and combos look great! I like this game's system. It looks pretty fun. I suggest using Bushou from FHR as an enemy here. And also, I don't get why moe girls are taboo while prissy French gymnasts are okay? Blunt weapons should also have different sounds.

good to see that one of the openbor masters work on this game and not a nooby like myself ;D i am the reason of get'n the rock's roll'in so that pierwolf working now on that kind of game. that great!. mate take all the time you need and release an epic barbarian adventure game! so what i told you...if you need later gor sprites, more sounds or other stuff then give me a call! ... keep on roll'in ;)

Pier love your games glad to have you back making games quick ? is this openbor game going to be a beat em up or a fighting game? I prefer beat em ups myself lol keep up the great work cant wait to see more
 
Even though I would rather see a 1-on-1 (or 2-on-2 / MUGEN) remake of WeaponLord with simplified controls (I've always loved the artwork, but hated the way special moves and fatalities are executed), I think I'm going to enjoy this mod, so I already can't wait to play it. ;D Great job as always, Pierwolf!
 
Oh, very nice to see you around, buddy! You are one of my main inspirations in the OpenBor world.

What I most liked:
- Like all your projects, it looks and feels like an official game. You care for details, specially for to not mix things which different graphical styles - what is a bad OpenBOR trademark, sadly.

- Loved the work with lifebars!

- You fixed the sluggish gameplay of the original game. They worried so much with other things and they had ignored the gameplay - the original game feels slow.

- Very creative moves!

What I thinkg it could be better:
- You could add some blood blobs jumping from some strikes (like heavy strikes), kinda like in Mortal Kombat or Real Bout Fatal Fury, not only some bloody sparks. Its a medieval game, it could be more violent

- I think its still a WIP, but the floor perspective is wrong where you extended the image.

Keep the good work! Also, will you add some fatalities?

yeah one of my objectives has always been to not mix too many different graphical styles, i want to see more openbor games like that but as you say, sadly is a bad trademark nowadays.

yeah i'm still indecised about blood and sparks and all, i've just try to find something more fitting, for now i'm making all weaponlord characters, then i will look about the other things. the stage is a wip too, of course.

P.S. hope you don't mind if i've used the stomprock from your marvel game for some of the special moves, just tell me if you don't agree with it!

For sure you can use it! Feel free to pick more effects if you want to. I've used (and credited) some of your effects too.

I think the sparks are already good. I just think you could add some other effects. I think the original game has some blood splats. There are some cool little bloods at Samurai Shodow and other games, take a look:
