Hi everybody!

long time no see, isn't it? well i've been busy with real life, like many of us, but i've never forgot the passion for this engine that makes this community the best in the world.

So in the last few days i've had a bit of free time, and i've decided to complete and release what is probably the very first project i've ever done with openbor; back in the first days i've discovered this engine, i've started learning how to use it by replacing characters from final fight apocalypse (the very first mod i've ever played, thank you Mr. Q! ) with those of fighter history dynamite, an old beat-em up from the neo geo days.

so much time as passed, and thanks to the support of all this community, i think i've improved a little bit (even if i still suck at scripts) , so i've decided to complete my first experiment, and make it a complete game with all that i've learned so far. so you will find special moves, a level-up system, secret characters, smooth gameplay, and a different ending for every character! i hope you'll enjoy it.

as always, take a look at the HOW TO PLAY section of the game to learn the basic command, and enjoy experimenting special moves and combos.

I've left it unpacked because, as always, you're the best beta-testers ever, so you can look in the code and i'm sure you'll have suggestions and will give me an hand to fix the bugs you'll find.

so far, i'm aware of a tedious bug with the character's icon; i've set iconmphigh, but when the player 2 is in game, his icon override the player 1. i don't know if this' is an engine's bug or else, i've never used iconmphigh before, nothing ground-breaking, but if you can give me an hint, i'll be immensely grateful.

Very good game, just noticed that the joystick does not set according to what you want, it is possible just only release the PAK file, so you can play in another version of OpenBOR? I can also play the keyboard, but I prefer the joytick, and congratulations for the excellent work. :D
 
lol, people on youtube were asking me if you were going to make an Fighter's History openbor game lol!!  Good stuff man, I'll make the video whenever I get the chance!!
 
Very good and pleasing game!
The gameplay is simple but effective!
I like the fact AODK characters are unlocked!! 8)

Still playing the game :
I'm giving a feedback soon, some bug need to be fixed or just weird things happening.
I'll finish hidden modes before.

Good  gameplay  and fun to play!

I see the mode have credits 0.
You can put more credits and eliminate all "noshare" for "levels.txt" to avoid the save credit bug.

OK,
Some feedback. (sorry for heavy text, but I like this game)

-The game is great, good sprites, BG, music, game system.
-Glad to see I'm not the only one to use hop back system in openbor games.
-Gorgeous "next level" screen! Just flawless!
-I just like how you gain a character regularly on the game.
-Good display of new characters in select screen (like an overlay to existing characters)
-Training is simple but very effective. (no dummy sensless hitting you)
-Custom ending by character system is very good!! But there might be a way to hide -lifebar and all with an overlay or something?
-The gameplay and moves is just GREAT!! super moves are aweseome!
-The game could use stomp OTG moves (just like in WHSJ by Magggas)
-Slowdown during fireball hits is just great!! but it should not happen when it's blocked by the enemy.
-Mizoguchi movelist is great, but he should stay on ground during his uppercut (jumping like a Shoryuken just for the super move version - IMO)
-Marstorius is very good too, but as a grappler he could have more normal throws variations up, down, left and right.

-Using Yungmie alternate spriteset gives her new moves but her new sprites are not consistent with the other characters.
-Same for Shigen, the idea to use a new boss is not bad, but Last Blade characters just don't fit with classic ones
-There is a lot of color loss moments (like when a new character join you alking to you ingame, he is displayed with wrong colors)
-Matlock is just overused since the first stage as a regular punk. (lack of enemies diversity to me)
-I was surprised to see Karnov as a regular enemy (even since the 1st stage) He would make a great boss and even playable character. Clown whould have been a cool psychotic boss too...
-I'm really missing Zazie as a playable character, same for Ryoko.
-Talking of that, all regular characters seem to have an "alternate" AODK character who overlay them on select screen. What about Yungmie who have an empty box (Kisarah would have been a good AODK "alternate" for her, really!)
-Some of enemies palettes colors are really weird looking and can make the game looking ugly by moment. particularly in last scene when "army of clones" attacks you...
-Music is great but don't seems to match the place where it's played.
eg. japanese theme in USA streets...
But I like how the speed up version is always used for boss battle!
-Turning animation seems a little sluggish and slowdown the action. Leonhalt't weird back turning anim is really weird. IMO, he should have a regular one.
-When some enemies are spawning, they taunt for several secondsand are invincible. IMO the anim could be shorter or at least they could be hittable during it (as a "reward")
-Objects like drums should be walkable (like plateforming elements), just a suggestion.
-I thing stages lacks sometime of diversity, I almost had the feeling to play Burning fight with Karnov Revenge characters.
-Training mode could be edited to avoid time over.
-Can be nice to have cancels from specials to super moves
-knifes launched by enemies tend to freeze in mid air when hitting Joe's Kattobi Hyakuretsu Kyaku.

I really hope this awesome gem will have an update with some fixed stuffs, few new features and more of the missing characters.

Definitly in my top 5 games in Openbor :)
 
It can't be true, this can't be real. You have done it again, another openbor masterpiece, absolutely entertainment, I can't believe it. Thanks so much, people like you keep holding beat em up genre alive! You're the ultimate master.

Pretty damn good man, I noticed if you get stuck in the corner your pretty much screwed lol, but hey that's me playing for ya lol!!  Extremely well done man, can't wait for the Extra version to come out ;)
 
Nice work, looks solid arcade style gameplay like your other mods

This should be on the front page ;)

When new modders are looking for examples/bases for new mods, they should start with PierWolf mods.  They show what openbor can do easily 'in the box' - they are are not script heavy and it shows why getting palettes, offsets, animation timing and other basics is essential as well as overall the appearance of a mod.
 
I'm sorry, but this is not your best work. I know you meant well with it, but...

- The final boss came out of nowhere and his sprites don't fit in with the rest of the game.
- Dissapointed that Lee, Marstorius, Samchay, and JEAN were playable but not Feilin.
- Why is Karnov just a regular enemy? He should have been introduced as a boss before being downgraded.
- Noticed that some characters, like Ryoko, Ox, and Chelnov, do not show up at all.
- Other than these major appeal failings, the game is solidly made.
 
The game is solid but I like your Golden Axe Legend much better.

I'm guessing you didn't have time to put any weapons in your game for the playable characters to use.

I didn't really mind that. What really made me upset was that Feilin was reduced to a grunt but we could play as awful characters like Lee, Samchay, and even Jean.  There's also a distinct lack of items dropped by enemies, creating a very difficult atmosphere.
