What about a playable female character, as Jinx, Jaye, Red, or Glenda?
Please add an international enemy as Cobra Mortal or DeAco.

No the project is not stopped.  We are in the process of updating Snake Eyes, then we should be able to release the new version.
Between this and Dungeons & Dragons we are just very busy and our team is very small so please be patient with us.

I like your idea of playable female character -- it's up to Red hood if he wants to make the sprites:)

As for international enemy, this new update has the Red Shadows.  There's no reason we can't add more enemies in the future.
 
sorry for the delay, i have been buying and collecting g i joe now and didn't took the time to do the missing sprites, it's done now.
We should definitely call this version 1.1, this way we can update it later and people will know which version they have.

Yes, as soon as we can update Snake Eyes and finish up that Red Shadows level we'll release the new version of the game.  Great job with the sprites!

This game has been such a challenge because there were no GI JOE games with existing sprites we could use.  I must thank you and Prime Op and everyone else again (and we do in the game credits btw).  Oh, I should mention that Acey did the original Snake Eyes sprites for MUGEN too.

Eventually it would be amazing to have a whole roster of JOES to select from - maybe 10 or so:)
 
I don't mean to necro-post, but I have to express one small concern I noticed on the silent castle stage. These sprites weren't made for platforming and become "stiff." It's next to impossible to finish the stage, due to the artificial difficulty of the fire, which seems to come from nowhere and the characters can barely jump these flames to begin with. Please either fix the platforming or wipe out the stage. It's very unnerving. I'm also not able to jump to the top of the castle, as the sprites can't jump that high and the spawn point is the ground.

As for the update, a playable Lady Jay would be a good addition as well as the Cobra Emperor. Better quality music would also be great, if possible.
 
Here's a tip for the silent castle stage -- do a running jump to get over the flames.
To get to the top, you have to jump on the moving platforms (running jump helps here too).
It's challenging, but once you memorize the pattern and get the hang of it, it's not that hard.

I know it's been a long time since we had any news so I thought I'd give a quick update:

The new version of GI JOE is VERY close to being finished.  I'll explain what is new and what is remaining to be done:

NEW
1)  2 new playable characters - Sgt. Slaughter and General Hawk -thanks to Redhood for spriting these!
2)  Snake Eyes new sprites and animations and palette.  Again, thanks to Redhood:)
3)  New background additions of Beachhead, Snow-Job by PrimeOp.
4)  New Red Shadows mission added, with VAMP driving level too.  Baron Ironblood is the final boss for this.

WHAT IS LEFT TO DO
- There is one more stage we need to add to the Red Shadows mission (between the VAMP driving level and the inside of the Red Shadows HQ) -- although you'd never know it was missing if we don't add it.
- Updating the scripts so the mod will run on the recent versions of OpenBOR. 

Bloodbane will be doing those last 2 things and then we can release the new version.  The other issue is that two years ago Hasbro had Mediafire take down my link and also removed my videos from YouTube.  I notice that other people who put videos and download links still have theirs up, so not sure why I was singled out. 
Nevertheless, since I got a warning from Mediafire and YouTube I am hesitant to get my accounts suspended and would prefer not to host the download link, which means we need to find another way to release this. 
As I said, without updating the scripts, a PAK won't work on the new versions of OpenBOR, but I could release the game as-is (with the one missing level from the Red Shadows mission) and include the version of OpenBOR that the game does run on.
The reason I'd consider doing this is that Bloodbane is very busy trying to finish the D&D game and he might prefer to finish GI JOE after D&D is done.  Maybe someone else could help us update the scripts so it'll run on the current verions of OpenBOR.

What do you guys think?

I made a quick video to show some of the new animations - you can see Snake Eyes now has 10 frames for walk instead of 3, a new shooting anim, new anim for summoning the wolf.
And there's a brief amount of the new General Hawk at the end of the video.

It's great news that it's coming close to completion. :D Well, I think I might update the download, but, I'm not sure about replacing the old with new since you mentioned Hasbro had MediaFire to take yours down which I remember clearly. You tell me what you prefer me to do (your wishes) whether replace the old or upload the new while leaving the old there. ;)

Once the new one is ready we can replace the old one with it.
I'm just saying that if we want the new one released faster, there are a few scripts (something to do with spawns if I remember correctly) that need updating.
I'll see what Bloodbane says about it, I don't think it was anything too complicated, I just don't remember which ones.
