I loved the sprites...but the attack doesn't make much sense to me.
If you look at the attack where he calls the police car, you'll see that the policeman shoots upwards, diagonally...and the shots fall diagonally, at the same angle.

But here the helicopter appears shooting straight down...while the shots come from the upper left corner? It looks very strange to me.

I think that, in this case, the shots would have to appear on the ground at the moment the policeman shoots, in a straight line from where he is.
I understand the point, but the helicopter acts only as an illustration in this case, in the same way as the previous grenade attack.
In this attack, it does not mean that he is firing in the exact position as he is shown.
 
@O Ilusionista I flipped the direction of the bullets so that it would at least be more consistent with the position from where the helicopter is coming.
I even thought of moving the camera up, similar to the cop car moving the camera to the right, but I would need to expand the background sprites for every level 😓

Can you not make a universal sky background and by code shift the color into Day/Afternoon/Night according to the specific stages? I don't know much about coding if it's too much to work with. Sorry, but I tried to shift the gattling gun to more diagonal as the bullets trajectory but the results is not good.
I keep saying to myself I'm gonna learn coding when I'm finished making sprite edits but here I am in 2026 still making them. I'm asking your permission to open and used SOR2X as learning purpose and for me to test my edits. Don't worry, I will never release any of my edits and making chaos out of your game. Wait, we already have that.. lol.. Testing my edits in rom hack is not enough anymore and beside I really need that bike stages to test this guy.

Unfortunately this solution is not so simple. Some levels have buildings in the background and I would certainly need to draw it in a proper graphics.

I'm testing different ideas for the Helicopter, it's not totally defined. One of them is similar to what SORR does (and similar to what Ilu suggested too), but I was trying to avoid it at any cost to avoid comparison. In short, I will just skip the shots and make only small explosions while the chaingun is firing.

I will post an example as soon as I finish it.

No problem friend, you can use the SOR2X for your tests and learning purposes :) At least it's a lot better than hacking roms to make tests.
 
One more adjustment, now the bullets fall vertically to match the helicopter position, plus I rotated the sprite to look coherent with the falling movement.
I'm avoiding at all costs making the same way as the SORR. At least in the current method, it resembles the classic chaingun from the original game.

Yeah, looks good. And yeah, you should avoid anything close to SORR...

There's small mistake in SOR3 Skate Metal Bat attack, wooden bat still there in few frames
Confirmed, thanks for the report. Indeed this happens in the SOR3 versions of Axel/Blaze/Sammy because they have some exclusive sprites using the wooden bat, and then the new weapon palette in the SOR1 route will not affect these frames.
 
Hello Kratus, I noticed there's a Sor2 New Era on Youtube featuring MegaMania difficulty, where the number of enemies is extremely high. Can this SORX handle such a configuration with an overwhelming number of enemies? (Of course, I'm referring solely to the number of enemies)
 
New SORX exe/apk icon. I tried to replace the old one with the new "X" but it didn't fit very well, plus this "S" resembles the SoR franchise a lot more than the "X".

Just a curiosity, the SOR3 USA version considers the Shiva's stage as stage 8. So, having 8 stages in the SORX SOR3 route is not totally wrong.
I already saw this secret option, but originally it doesn't show stages 7 and 8, only 1-6. But it's possible to enable it through a game genie code.

Hello Kratus, I noticed there's a Sor2 New Era on Youtube featuring MegaMania difficulty, where the number of enemies is extremely high. Can this SORX handle such a configuration with an overwhelming number of enemies? (Of course, I'm referring solely to the number of enemies)
No problem, I can test this kind of feature. SORX supports almost everything the SOR2:NE does, I only didn't add a difficulty higher than mania in the past because I remember people not liking the idea.
However, I can test 4x or 8x enemies in the unlockables section.

Hey, I liked it. But I would rather a smarter or more tactical AI than filling the screen.
 
Testing the SOR3 Garnet (USA version). I made a new model instead of just a new palette due to amount of diferences between USA/JPN versions.
Plus I added in the USA version an extra rare move, some kind of "multi slap" attack.




Some small additions, added the original icons and a life bar for SOR3 stage 3 walls and stage 6 switches.



And I refined a bit more the new logo, now following the "X" spacing based on the SOR2 box art and the "press start" text based on the SOR3 title screen.
