Streets of Rage X (Windows / Android)

In Progress Streets of Rage X (Windows / Android) Beta 33

No permission to download
The project is currently under development.
Same as me, I see that other people are divided about the Bongo version, so once both BKM/SOR1 have considerable sprite differences, I decided to let them both in the game. I'm still making more adjustments on the BKM version to look a bit less cartoonish.

In addition, I will define the SORR version as the default boss in the Stage 4, both will be playable at the Rebellion mode. I will think of a way to put the BKM boss in a few stages too after the Stage 4.

Good work on Bongo (y) ; can you send me please the BKM version so I can work on it?
You can use this Onihime and Yasha that I made with the SMS haircut if you wish:

Great! I didn't know that the SMS Blaze has a different haircut, good job! Although I'm working on the BKM Blaze, your "haircut SMS" version can be added as an alternative too. After the SOR1 route is finished, I'm planning to heavily focus on the heroes by adding every existing version, including some customs too.

I will send the BKM Bongo as soon as I finish some changes in the sprites.

Hello everybody. I am new to this forum. Not so long ago, I was thinking about sprites Adam BKM,
and in the end, this is what I came up with.
And I'm interested to know the opinion of experts on how badly I made these sprites.

@Mr.Hunter
Wow, your sprite edit is amazing! It's my long time dream to see an edit based on the BKM Adam sprites, congratulations.

My only suggestion is to reduce the black borders a little bit at least in the places where the colors are lighter, like the shirt and arms, to make it approach to the SOR 1/2/3 sprites. For example, on the arms you could use a darken tone of the same colors used on most parts, like the example below:

index.php

If you like the idea I can make some tests in the SORX game to show the character in action. After that, if everything goes well and if you authorize me, I can add him to the game.

@Мистер Хантер

index.php

Если вам нравится эта идея, я могу сделать несколько тестов в игре SORX, чтобы показать персонажа в действии. После этого, если все пойдет хорошо и если вы мне разрешите, я смогу добавить его в игр
It was also my dream to see BKM Adam with his movements in the game. And you can do whatever you want with these sptrites

As for the black borders. This high will be done by professionals.

This version of Adam has always my favorite. Your ideas are amazing as well the game itself

Kratus, I now tried to reduce the black frames, and this is what happened. Does it suit you?

In the latest version of the SORX I'm editing features like aggression, attackthrottle, attackthrottletime and aimove properties for enemies. In addition, I'm using these commands to change the cpu partner's behaviours too.

Hi Kratus,

Hoping you are open to criticism and feedback.

I love the idea behind this project! It has the possibility of being a SOR preservation(ish) thing, which helps to distinguish it from SORR which felt like a true sequel to the series (before we got SOR4, that is)

However, somethings both me about it.

In my youth I was a reviewer for EGM, so I have an acumen for this. So I won't bullish** you. I would use the name SUSHIX for my reviews (an alias used by several anonymous reviewers over the years, if you are curious).

One small thing that should be addressed is the burning and blood effects. You seem to be using a 3D playstation like effect that seems to clash with the comic book cartoon style. In SORR they used blood effects and burning effects that were hand drawn.

The minute you start to use lightning bolts, and lighting effects that seem to come from 3D games then it really breaks the immersion here. It feels less organic and that's when this feels like a rom hack rather than a real game (which is what I am assuming you are going for here, kudos to that btw!)

I wouldn't offer my 2 cents in the first place if I didn't think this had potential. So please know it comes from a good place. However, one of the reasons some people are so protective over SORR is because of the exhaustive amount of time and research that went into that fan project. It nails the tone and the etiquette and respects the rules of the series. For the most part. I say that because the cut scenes are awful, poorly written. And if they were going to leave out other content from SOR3 (which I agree is a good move, since SOR3 kinda suxxed) then they should've dropped the cut scenes since it leaves less to the imagination. Sometimes less is more?

But I like this and had other feedback as well to offer if it is invited.

For now, I thought I would simply offer my thoughts over the jazzed up f/x and stuff like that. If possible, maybe work with a sprite editor to replace those with handdrawn effects. The benefit of that is it gives your game that old school anime feel (like Dragon Ball) as opposed to this playstation 90s house style. Again, I'm just referring to blood, fire and smoke effects (like the ones used with Bongo).

Look forward to your response here!

Hi @pleiades7bluestars
Yes, I'm always open to criticism and feedback :)

Exactly, the main point in the project is the preservation of all the original trilogy, including all the unused/unfinished content and the different console versions, with an updated fighting mechanic but toggleable to the original ones too.

I think the SORR in fact is more like a "reimagination" instead of a "remake", once they changed too many things like the SOR3 route and added many others too.

In my youth I was a reviewer for EGM, so I have an acumen for this. So I won't bullish** you. I would use the name SUSHIX for my reviews (an alias used by several anonymous reviewers over the years, if you are curious).
Yeah, this nickname sounds familiar to me :)

Another point that I agree with you. I didn't remake the cutscene dialogue because I like the SOR1/SOR2 feeling, leaving the game history to the player's imagination. Second, once the SOR3 is the only game that has cutscene dialogue, I prefer to maintain a default behaviour with no cutscene for all the trilogy.

over SORR is because of the exhaustive amount of time and research that went into that fan project
Yes, I understand. But don't worry about it, the last thing I care about in this project is the time, once currently this is the most important project of my life. In fact the only thing I know is that I don't accept working less time than the Bombergames worked.

I can even take a break or work slowly sometimes, but depending on the project's course it can easily surpass 10 years or more (of course, if Sega allow me), no matter if during this time there's a SORR v100 or SOR4/5/6/7 😅 unless I have unexpected very bad things in my life.

I agree with you about this point, I'm making many changes in this aspect. Compared to the SOR2X a huge amount of hi-res effects were removed and others changed, like the explosion, but there's more changes to come yet. In addition, the game has a menu where you can restore the original effects too, so the player can customize your experience.

Look forward to your response here!
Thanks for your feedback, it's always welcome :)

This is key and one of the things I love about this project, because you can play SOR3 stages 1 to 6 and then 7A and 7B one after the other, like if it was SOR2.

100/10 star over 10!!!
best SOR game ever
you granted my wish from childhood:
why cant play with bad guys...
I have some idea if u can put them on game:
1-for Mr-X's special:Summons gold-silver-bronze to play along side with him(he is boss crime and must have Bodyguards)
or shot bullets entire screen like Rambo
2-in Battle-Royal put all characters to play not just good guys(my favorite mod sometimes watching their fight like mma fight and guess who would win) and put music select play 1 or Random
3-like Serious Sam put option to have 1-10x multiply enemy on screen for example fight 10x boss
4:You put all good stuff and nothing come to my brain 8)

I will think about your suggestions, especially the one about Mr-X's bodyguards as a special move.

Hi buddies,

This time I'm showing the SOR1 Stage 5 boss Onihime (the Blaze clone) and some new Maestro Draven tracks.
Her moveset is based on the Bare Knuckle Mobile game, the default palette and voices were taken directly from the original SOR1.

The SOR1 Blaze will be added in future updates, for now only Onihime was developed because I need to focus on the SOR1 level construction.
There's no more new characters to be added for now, only after the SOR1 route is launched.

In addition, I found a way to make the external music folder to be played, at least on the Windows version. So, now we can have more playlist options, maintaining all the original and Maestro Draven ones as both official playlists, but playing the SORR tracks (and others) from external folders too.

Characters finished
- Galsia (BKM edited)
- Signal (SORR edited)
- Nora (SORR original)
- Hakuyo (BKM edited)
- Jack (BKM edited)
- Antonio (BKM edited)
- Souther (SORR edited)
- Abadede (SOR2)
- Bongo (BKM / SORR edited)
- Onihime & Yasha (BKM edited)
- Mr. X (SOR2)

I love the remix of Stage 2-2. The part at 9:03 made me smile because it sounds exactly like how 8/16-bit chiptunes from Genesis days sounded like. :) Not only does it sound like it's from Sonic, but it also sounds like its own game and the original Streets of Rage 3.

Onihime looks fierce in gameplay. If she's a boss character in the SOR1 route, she'd be tougher to beat than the original.

The music tracks are absolutely on point!

Excellent job, Kratus!

Thanks buddy :)
I'm really enjoying the Maestro Draven tracks too. I thought the same as you at 9:03, it brings a "Sonic feeling" from the 16-bit era.

Hey guys, here's some new content added to the game.
I'm really enjoying learning about how to work with sprites, I have big plans for future updates.

Finally I was able to create an exclusive Souther version for SORX. The body was completely redrawn over a resized BKM version and the head uses the SORR format, but the face received a few improvements once some SORR sprites have no eyes, same as shown on the image.
