Streets of Rage X (Windows / Android)

In Progress Streets of Rage X (Windows / Android) Beta 34

No permission to download
The project is currently under development.
Could Garnet_U and Garnet.J both appear on stages to enrich the game's variety?
My first code already had it applied in all spawns, but I'm testing another feature that changed it.
Now the cover type also changes BK3/SOR3 elements, like intro, endings, palettes and characters. This way we can have the complete experience in both titles.

But I will consider reverting at least Garnet/Electra, I need to finish the code first.

Game crashed on me while playing as Beta Max on SoR 2 elevator. Something to do with his Sword mode it seems.
Thanks for the report :) I will check it.
EDIT: @Psykai Please, can you send me your saves folder too? I tested in my game file and the issue didn't happen, but I'm using default options for most game settings.

We are a lot to like Street Fighter universe, but same here, I hope Kratus will keep the SORX project a SOR themed game.
I'm would really prefer the mod to keep the SOR "spirit" only...

So many games starts with a great fitting "roster".
Then one day...
-Adding Ken Masters
-Adding Spiderman
-Adding Batman
-Adding Frosted Flakes' Tony the Tiger.
-Adding this trendy (in his country) Youtuber...

I pray for it NOT to happen for this particular mod!

Many people want to cram all kinds of characters into a game just to make it seem “rich.”

Yet they overlook whether the characters fit the game’s setting, tone, and style.

Streets of Rage 1–3 is rooted in 1990s American urban street crime and gritty city violence, blending punk, electronic, hip-hop, and martial arts film elements into a style best described as urban hardcore street action.

It is defined by mohawks, studded jackets, leather, ripped pants, tattoos, and piercings—street punks and thugs—set against neon cities, run-down neighborhoods, underground clubs, graffiti, and raw, unruly street energy that echoes the rebellious, underground spirit of punk.

Throwing in random, out-of-place characters only turns the game into a disjointed, tasteless mess.

As the saying goes:

Less is more.

By the way, the mod in question is this one:

To me, the sprites fit the overall theme very well, the movements are also cohesive, it even looks like an official release, I mean, a crossover between Sega and Capcom.

If we consider all the themes discussed above about the SOR universe, Batman wouldn't be such a bad idea. XD

Hey Kratus, are there any plans to add Street Fighter characters?
I'm asking because of your mod for SOR 2, you know, the one that adds Ryu, Ken, etc.
@SilentMRG Friend, I'm sorry to disappoint you but I don't have plans to add characters from other franchises in the SORX. The goal in this project is to make a game more close to a commercial release, focused on the classic trilogy.

I only used the SoR2 game as base in these hacks because I was very active in the rom hacking scene and had all the best conditions to make it happen: the proper tools and enough knowledge to make it with a decent quality.

Instead, I would prefer making a new game from scratch for the SF characters.
But I'm glad you liked the hacks :)

Oh oof. Hope this helps.
@Psykai Friend, I looked at the save files and it seems that you are not using the latest game version. Based on what I saw, the "cover type" option is not present, but I added it in the last beta 34.

According to the log, the crash is related to the weapon script. I remember fixing something related to it in the beta 34, but I improved the code a bit more anyway to avoid any crash in the next release.

Thanks for the feedback :)

PS: Maybe you are using one of the first beta 34 releases launched during the closed tests. I suggest downloading the latest one at the resources section.

Kratus, I understand, no problem. ;)
About a Street Fighter module, that would be super cool! Especially if you use the SORX stuff as a base. =D
I mean, the scripts and all the technical aspects of the gameplay.

Your SF hacks are by far the best! It's a shame there isn't one with Akuma. =(
I remember a few years ago I used a hack that added Akuma... But it was broken as hell!

Don't forget the Orochi type of Axel/Blaze/Adam/Skate/Max/Zan with 999 hits combo with visual fx that blind your eyes and screen shake that makes your monitor tremble.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind a guest character if it's still in SEGA universe. The gameplay and sprite style (shading and proportion) have to match SOR universe though. I have two WIP but still a long way to go. I'm gonna share one of them after this in usual thread.

So, does that mean Sonic would be a good character? Maybe the humanoid star from the game Ristar? Or Gilius Thunderhead?

In that case, Kratus would have to change the project's name to SEGA Super Smash Bros X.

Yeah, all the SORX scripts/structure certainly would be used as a starter point.

Thanks friend! Indeed I tried to add Akuma but didn't find any good sprite that fits the game.
All other character's sprites I extracted from the SFII Champion Edition for Mega Drive, this is why they fit well. But unfortunately this game does not have Akuma.

But considering that these sprites were used a lot in other projects, I would prefer using the SF:Alpha ones, similar to the ones used in my previous SF VS KOF project.

I forgot to mention that I made some changes in the SOR1 Blaze, and changed a few moves to a better balance.

- Elbow attack now is the running attack, due to its simplicity.
- The @seahorses Saiha edit now is the forward special.
- And the previous running attack (the kick) now is the super attack (1 star move).

I made these changes after watching many playthroughs and saw that the kick was too powerful and overused. Now that it costs 1 star (even if in the air), it looks a lot more balanced, preventing players from abusing it.

In addition, the Saiha edit matches with the other Blaze's forward special, having some energy emanating from their hands.
