While I understand your points, I don't think such harshness is necessary. Different people have different tastes.

It's worth remembering that the author was banned from here precisely because of similar behavior.

And regarding very long levels, depending on how they are designed (it's been a long time since I played this game), it's not a matter of "using the save game and playing another day," it's simply a game design flaw.
 
Does anyone know if this is dead? John Silva is a genius, but he ruined his game by making it too easy for my taste. I hope he makes a hard mode or something. In the meantime, I'll play this version. But Toranks hasn't been seen anywhere for a long time.

Welcome to the community @nicog8. John Silva was banned from the community due to extremely rude and hostile behavior toward other members. As for him being a genius, that's rather subjective. I believe if you took the time to play some of the other and more highly regarded projects here, you might think differently.

In any case, @Toranks last logged in early 2025, but he might see this after I tagged him.

I'd like to see Toranks come back and continue his work. I think this OpenBOR is unbeatable. I didn't know about Jonsilva; it's really sad that he behaved that way. I'd gladly accept your advice on which OpenBOR to play. Thanks for replying.

Toranks also don't answer to us recently. His youtube also have no news.

Sure there are tons of characters but at least the roster is not full of anime, comics, touhou, (...) whatever characters...
To me the game have reached a point it does not need more content, but sure if it's done in a good way, why not ?

I’ve reached the Antarctic stages and I can safely say that the quiz game was apparently either totally removed or just disabled (I’m playing the Hard mode). I don’t know if this is also true for latest Jonsilva’s versions since I don't have time to test them, but here is how it worked—at least in an older version by Jonsilva before Toranks forked the project.

I hope someone can look into this. King gives you the opportunity to play a quiz related to KOF lore: basically, when you talk to her, her main role is to provide a briefing about the next boss. The message window on the left displays a list of questions regarding the bosses that grows every time you defeat one. Once this boss list is complete, “Talk to King” should trigger the quiz game instead of her usual gossip. Keep in mind that it’s been years since I played Jonsilva’s version and some details on how to trigger the quiz might be slightly inaccurate (for example, to play it you might have to scroll the window list for a new option instead of just selecting “Talk to King”).
By the way, was this quiz available in any of Toranks' older versions?

I played the original version around 2018, and at the time I remember there were plans to add characters from Fatal Fury, and if my memory serves me right, even from Garou. Was that ever done?

I remember that Toranks' version didn't have those guys, well, maybe I didn't play enough to see... What I do remember is that there were some Art of Fighting characters on the initial selection screen.
