Oh that was something I was going to mention. I couldn't actually hear his voice very well in the video. It sounded kind of quiet so he seemed less intimidating. I sometimes have a hard time hearing other voices too like some bosses whilst playing. I've tried turning the Sound Effects volume up before but I think I didn't notice a difference.

I hope it's not just me going deaf or something :o
 
All the samples are almost clipped, so is the bgm that is too loud. Try to lower it a bit.
This is what I did and I can hear the voices - and I don't hear 100% anymore.

I almost wish there was a Hercules: The Legendary Journeys pallette 'cause I'm rewatching that show, haha. He'd need a mop top hair though, lol.

The sound adjust did help. I had SFX on 120 and the Music on 100 and it still didn't help apparently, so I lowered the music to 85 and it made a small difference. I'll keep playing with it.

Yeah, I do want to make a full playthrough with my son someday :)

I am kinda busy this week but I am slowly working on this game still - and receiving some feedback from testers.

For the Random Mode, some stages has details to make them a little different from the current ones. This is one of the examples:

I can't do it for all stages, but I will try to include some extra details in other stages too.
 
Some news:

• Almost done with Attuma's cave stage - I've added some moving light effects to improve the mood of the stage.

• Also, Elemental is finished. He appears with a random color, and each color makes him use a different spell, with different mechanics. And he changes his color each time he gets knocked down.

• I am testing new mechanics for this chapter, to make it look less a beat em up chapter and more an action chapter :)
 
Just so we're clear, how many chapters do you plan on putting in this game? It gets bigger everytime I see it.
 
So far, everything is going according to what I and Jhfer had planned initially, about the number of chapters. What has been changed is that the Spider-Man chapter, because it is very long and because of the popularity of the character, has been promoted to a complete mode. There are other stories that MAYBE I add as a separate mode, like Asgard, Inferno, etc.

There were changes on the stages of the chapter of Greece, for two reasons:

1- I want to try new things in the game, like new mechanics.
2- I noticed that another mod is using pretty much the same graphics (and even some enemies) I had already used for some stages in Greece, which had been ready for over a year. Since it annoys me a bit and I do not want it to look like I'm copying someone (even though I know the result would be completely different), I decided to change that. It's the price I paid for taking too long to finish the game, but no problem - I want to do something unique.

Right now, I am working in one of the Greece stages. The four layers, where the pillars are, move independently, giving a very cool sense of depth.

Minotaur is still using the smart pal template because there was an error on his sprites which I need to fix.

You've seen this before, but here's a better recording of what I mean. I don't extend the affine layer into object plane, but that's just a stylistic choice. There's no reason at all you couldn't d it.


Either way, you could probably just just a touch more color. The columns stand out a little too much. But these are nitpicks. Your work is awesome as usual!

That's not my new dynamic affine transform, it's the built in static one for water that we've always had. This stage is over a year old. I can show you how NP.

I got a free time to do something I always wanted - enhance this project bonus stage.

News:
- Glasses, when broken, create shards with different animations.
- Each shrapnel has a different speed and jumps on the floor differently
- The longer life glasses now have a damage animation and rotate to different sides depending on which side they were hit.

After making many tests, I think I will stick with this base for Spider-Man (from Lethal Foes, SNES). MVC has many frames and amazing moves, but the shading style doesn't fits AT ALL and it would be too much work to reshade it.

Just a question about the size: left (smaller) or right (bigger)? I think left fits better with the character

I agree with you: I think the left's better. Good idea to choose a late SNES game but what do you plan to counterbalance the lack of moves?

Can't wait to discover the news stages, keep the great work!
 
The sheet has a good number of frames. And it's easy to frank some frames (I've made some ones already).

I need to think carefully about which versions of Spider-Man will be on the game. Since this character has a lot of version, I think we need more than 2.

See, now you just make me wish she was playable :P Too bad she's not unique enough. Awesome sprite edit though.

I prefer the way the sprite on the right looks (the pixels just look better and less squashed) but I agree that size-wise the left is more character appropriate.

I'm ridiculously excited for Spiderman. I love his sprite and it will look right at home in the game world. I wish he was in the next build but I'll be more than happy enough to have Nightcrawler, Scarlet etc.

For modes obviously I would love for Venom to be as separate as the two Spiderwoman modes, maybe even with alternate voices and of course the name change like with Tigra/Hellcat. but I have no idea what a third mode could be aside from maybe the more 'techy' style from Homecoming but I hate that version of him (not the actor or his portrayal, just the whole notion of pretty much the Iron Spider).
