Jhfer is helping me a lot, making the basic work of many characters (enemies, player, bosses).
The last one he had sent me is Enchantress

My plan for her is to make she different from the other bosses - since she has almost no fighting skils, she will not chase the player for close combat, but instead she will use long distance tactics. Her main power will be sorcery:

The Enchantress' magical powers are among the most powerful of all Asgardians. The Enchantress's strength and proficiency with magic is second only to Karnilla, with enough power even in the Earthly realm to cloud the sight of Agamotto through his Orb for hours from the view of Doctor Strange.

Thanks to this, she will have a lot of attacks (I think its the boss with more attacks on the whole game) and she will be making the player life hard in the whole chapter, not only on the last fight.
 
Nice to see a variety of different bosses. Enchantress could have multiple encounters throughout the stage. Perhaps one that works like Tactical Force, or one like her MIW counterpart?
 
I always thought the Enchantress had a cool design ^_^ She's looking great here and sounds interesting as a boss.

The energy beam looks pretty badass but yeah the fire colour should match it.[Edited for Clarity]

What is the purpose of the skeleton? It's really out of place graphic-wise :S Doesn't fit the rest of the art style at all.

It's exactly what she will do. She will be making some illusions and other things I can't spoil right now :)

The skeleton has died before I fought her. Skeletons, after dying, aren't removed from the screen. You think its out of place, really? I don't think so, specially when Mega Drive has the same style of the rest of the game.

That sounds awesome :D You have some really trippy effects on a stage with illusions.

I love the idea of the bodies staying behind for the skeletons. That's great :) Graphically I mean the skeleton sprite looks out place next to the other character sprites. I'm not sure if it's the way the colours/shading is done or what. It doesn't look totally out of place though, just noticably different. Perhaps when it's upright and fighting it looks better. I'm looking forward to seeing some non-human and non-robot enemies.

Yeah, I think it gives a cool effect. But Skeleton has one trick: when they "die", there a small chance of "rebirth". So it will rise to fight you again. Skeletons were a pain in Golden Axe and they are a pain here too - they get itens, escape from grabs (like bosses does) but do not fall on holes like morons like in GA, lol.

I'm looking forward to seeing some non-human and non-robot enemies.
There are 2 already coded and 2 or 3 waiting to be coded.

From a realism perspective, the grabbing items seems a little too intelligent for a walking corpse (but it's a video game so who cares? lol XD) but they sound cool. The rebirth idea is awesome! Will it even happen multiple times with the same skeleton if they get lucky? That could be pretty hilarious if the player has a string of bad luck XD It'd be so funny.

I hated the skeletons in Golden Axe XD Golden Axe was a really hard and clunky feeling game anyway though. I still remember playing it a lot when I was a kid. It had such memorable stages and music and the way magic worked was so cool.

Actually, that just gave me a crazy idea. What if there was a character in UBF who could use their Avenger Power at any time, but the actual move would change based on how much Power they had at the time of using it, so a full bar would cause a huge attack whereas smaller bars would be less impressive, with a nearly empty bar being no more powerful than a basic special move (like Hawkeye quick shot or something).

Totally random XD I dunno why I thought of that.

You have a point there. But they aren't normal skeletons, they were reanimated by Enchantress' magic and they are under her control. There will be more people which will be controlled by Enchantres *hint*.

Yes. I am still working on the percentage - kinda like 10% or 15%. But if you are unlucky enough, the skeleton can rise again and again.

If you're suggesting that some of the playable characters might also appear as enemies, then that is AMAZING. Or she can take control of a player in 2 player mode, but that sounds impossible to do and may be unfair on the player lol.

That's great XD I bet it will feel more annoying to actually have it happen but I'm just picturing this hilarious moment of someone screaming "will you just stay dead!?" at their screen. ;D

That is the spirit. I had experienced this when I had a group of 4 Skeletons (which I will avoid to use, because they gang up over you and kill you easily), I killed all the 4 at the same time...and all the four had risen up again, lol

by the way, since Iron Fist is now playable, I've replaced him in the boss game select screen

hahahahahahahah yes, I think she is giving you a tip :)

I've working on the Replay Mode. Instead of adding many mode at the menu screen, I've made a simple stage where you will be able to select all important areas of the game

Nothing fancy, just to make the selection process easier

But since the routes are separated now, you will need to beat the game 2 times to access all the extra modes - including the bonus games and boss rush.

If everything goes well, the next release will have, at least, 4 new playable characters. Maybe more. And at least 2 new NPCs.
Also, I have plans to add more hidden characters :)

This is something I still need to elaborate. But yeah, I want to do it.

I am making some changes in block/dodge:

  • Now all the characters won't stay 1 second on the block pose, but 1/2 second. This was a feedback some people gave to me.
  • Dodge is now executed with D or U + BLOCK. The movement is fast, invincible while moving but you will be able to be hit once you land on the ground, to avoid to be cheap
  • By the same reason, you won't be able to execute it while blocking already
  • Only close combat characters will receive dodge. Any character with long range attacks won't receive it.

Wall Jump: Now she can execute an extra jump when jumping near walls (only walls and not screen edges), by pressing JUMP when she on the air - and won't work it she is still too close to the ground. This move can be linked to her Jumping Hook move (absent from the read me, my mistake). Some other characters wil receive this move too.

Quicker combos: Reduced the combo attacks from 5 to 4 hits, so she looks faster now. Also, her combo enders and grab attacks now pushes the enemies far away from her.

New Attacks: Make her moves less repetitive, she is receiving some new basic attacks, like a new combo ender and a diving attack, which is very useful for her

Guys, I have some cool news to share, but I have to share a bad one first: Hulkbuster mode won't be added anymore. Due to serious misunderstandings (which I prefer to leave only between involved parts), I will no longer add this mode in the game.

Who has known me for all these years knows that I HATE bringing private matters publicly. I just posting about my decision to remove this mode from the game, as I believe I owe some explanation to the fans who follow the project.

This decision has already been taken and irrevocably. I apologize to anyone who has been waiting for this mode.

Back to the good news:
• Ares - He's almost done. He will be one of the chiefs in the chapter of Greece. Who will win the match between Ares and Hercules?

• Iron Fist - I'm adding new effects to your moves to simulate the use of Chi.

I added the ability to load Chi, using the CHARGE command, which allows reloading the entire MP bar - just as Thor and Emma do as well.

I also want to put his ability to heal, but I'm still thinking of a way so it does not get unfair and unbalance the game.

• Programming - I found some serious problems with the walls in the chapter of Greece, which will make me program again several projectiles of the game. It's a very boring job, but I have to do it. The good part is that I think I have a solution for that.
