Maybe there was some people who disliked mugen forums and community with their rules but not the engine itself so its different, i dont mind and i still dont think openbor can do everything that mugen can, still didnt seen proper vs mode implemented.
Yes first BOR mods were made using sprites ripped from sff files but many of these mods were not good quality but what can i say about mugen MKProject that i started, it was raped and abused so many times by some teenagers with their tremors and all these crap characters with so many bugs and problems it was really painful to see when i downloaded and tested the game and it worried me that people thought that i would approve that kind of quality in my mugen project, and i would actually prefere not be credited at all in such situation ;D. So i learned once you release something on internet its not really protected in any way no matter how hard you cry so im not attached that much to my stuff, i think if someone is using my work then he must like it very much so why would i be offended, im not ok if someone ruins gameplay and introduce bugs in my game cause people think i did it but even then i dont care that much cause i know the truth, internet is internet, real world is real world, im not against people who protect copyrights but just because my edits are precious to me doesnt mean that theyre precious to some other sprite editor and he doesnt care that much if someone is using them.
In the end we all like fighting games so we should help each other dont pretend and act like police vs thieves community cause its just silly sometimes.
Besides mugenguild was good for me when i did mk in 2004 but now theres tons of new people there who dont have a clue who started what, i think my credit in mkproject was even removed later but i dont care that much.
When derico was asked on mugen forums why he didnt give credit then i had to calm people down in thread and i was ultimately right, original author did not care that much, if someone wants his work to never be copied or mixed or whatever then dont release it or else someone might like it and try to do something with it.
Anyway i credit people for everything but i wont force others to credit me and wont be upset about some internet thief, unless im losing money im ok.
If someone is using my work to sell something im not ok but free is free, i decided to release it and i needed reality check, theres no way to protect besides not releasing at all.
