At this point I'm looking forward to what @danno is busy with.
Easy pass for me when the combat look so off.
Second, grappling that (if it exists at all) is completely disjointed
I'm with you on that.
I like to see a MMA beat em up with a focus on grappling with little windows of opportunity for reversals or escapes. Mother Russia bleeds isn't it but it's a start.
once again the olds are subjected once again to another franchise being eroded
At least we can remake em in our own image.

I can't believe they showed this character with them crazy offsets.
If he ran and jump on a downed zombie and there was a sense of weight it would look better with screen shake when knock down other enemies.
Gore animation doesn't go with the appropriate attacks either.
 
Just to be clear, in case it has already been written and I didn't get it...they're just redrawing sprites, not redoing animations; right? Like Udon did with SFII.
 
They're redoing animations too, very poorly. not only that.....

Speaking of ice, everyone seems to be fighting on ice, I hope all this is addressed in the released version because what I've seen so far is just terrible.

When compared to the original, the bugs are more or less on point in this remake.
The animation look off and art style similar to sor4 which is a red flag.
I would of made sure every attack is followed by the correct pain animation, blood splatter

this is some kind of monkey paw S#%t

the doctor has tons of personality on the original sprites, that golem looks like a mess, dracula seems to have gone on a hunger strike, even the music lacks energy....

and that lab wide-screen fix seems a little familiar LOL - i am going to overlay the lab on the video with the one of ours to see ...
 
- here are some thoughts -

would have left the game pretty much alone from a game-play stand-point -
on the graphics, 3 choices:

players could have chosen only one of 3 ways, the other 2 Re-skins, can only be used after beating the game

choice 1 - a non- cel shaded remastering of the original graphics - either using AI or artists or a combo of both....

choice 2 - plasticky but faithful prerendered graphics, at least at the level Terror Dome

Choice 3 - Photo realistic - i would have had either hired actors, or trained an AI to render/re-skin everything as 80's realism.

now, are all these videos intentionally crap?

could it be that the demo is going to be way better, maybe something closer to Bonus JZ game-play?
 
I've just watched that demo video and it's worse than I thought 😢. Zombie not attacking your back is bad already now we have mad doctor who could get lost while walking 😯. And the golem is just broken 😡, no not that broken, I mean in original golem falls using fall sprites when it is knocked down not using crumbled sprites as shown in the video.
 
Alright there's just tooooo much I don't like about this remake....So I'll mention what I do like instead

I do like the reflections and some of the lighting effects, I like the look (minus the black) of the stages and how they are layered.
 
Tbh it's good having a remake of that amazing game but hmm sprites looks odd, idk. As it isn't pixel art anymore it feel so cartoonish, I'd rather to play the oldyz version

still Bonus Jz, friend .... my addtional stuff is not ready and is hella broken, when it comes to gameplay Toranks and Life of finale did a lot of more work. (all stuff i did where lucky accidents so far)

indeed there is some cool stuff, but it feels wasted, those effects would look better in terrordrome style renditions

anyway, the other thing they can do is add more levels, like we discussed before, there seems to be a big gap between events, only one seal when more than one where suggested, there is at least 3 more levels they can add to the story

Well the normies like it, it does look a bit junky though. Mayhem brawler is quite similar and people loved that, It wasn't for me, something was off, very by the numbers.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Jake's body surfing move exclusive to Bonusjz's night slashers x?
 
Here's my honest Review


In all seriousness, seeing a direct play through without any flash cut bullcrap to hide it really tells the tale. Those animations are even more disjointed, weightless, and lazy than I originally thought. Someone said it reminded them of some random throwaway you'd find on Newgrounds back in the day. I think they nailed it.

Trying the recently released Night Slashers Remake.
But is it any good? In a short: nope.

Here is a video so you won't waste your time trying it.
i've downloaded it, played it two times, deleted it.
