I'm feeling some anxiety and discomfort from how this played out, but just to be clear; despite any feedback I've given, I would rather have the SoR 1 characters in their current form, than to have them removed or reduced to an SoR 1 only moveset. If those are the three options, then what we have already is absolutely fine.

And just to reiterate; I thought your SoR 1 Axel was great! He's my favorite version of Axel in the game and I pick him a lot, and I don't even play/like him in the MAIN series xD So by far you have not done a bad job at all on the retro characters thus far. x
 
After thinking a lot and talking with friends, I decided to keep all the content planned. That's a lot of work done just to throw it away.
I know that the SOR1 characters are not on the same level as the others (and I always commented that they will be basic), but the SOR1 Blaze moveset is basically the same as the original. Sincerely I don't know what's so wrong with her, maybe the problem is that the expectations were too high.

I'm still open to testing suggestions and making adjustments, like in her special moves, but I'm not planning to change the base. It means that if you don't like the original moveset, there's a high chance that you will not like the SORX version.

A lot of recycled/reused sprites? Yes, of course, but even that still is a lot better than the original Bare Knuckle Mobile for example, in which recycled the whole SOR2 content with a few additions, bad gameplay, running in Java, and Sega launched it as a totally new product.

To be honest my first plans were to make only the exact SOR1 moveset with no special/rage/super/etc, only cop car, but luckily I added a few more moves to make them not too far from the others.

I will read/answer each previous post one by one, let's talk about the improvements.
And even sometimes not agreeing totally with a few suggestions, I appreciate every feedback.

I do like how overall broken she is (I like Blaze and her SOR1 look is the best of all), but for balancing sake I have to call it out unfortunately lol. Like I said, I can see how SOR1 characters should be more powerful than their future selves but also be limited in approach, SOR1 Blaze's damage output just seems too gnarly compared to others I think. IMO there's nothing wrong with a One-Trick-Pony character in a beat em up, but maybe some of her damage could be toned down to still be stronger than SOR2/3 Blaze per hit, but not feel like she stomps the whole cast in viability.

You're probably just plain out of luck. OpenBOR is not an emulator, but the r365 tries to treat it like one, and the results are often not pretty. See this thread for details.


Short version: @Kratus builds with the latest, greatest versions available and uses OpenBOR correctly. R365 doesn't.

I suggest running the Linux version of the SORX as a PC game, not like an emulator/rom. Currently I tested in both Batocera and SteamOS, they worked fine using the AppImage I packed in the zip file.

The R36S is a cheap Anbernic portable console which has a 4:3 display, so unless you have a classic resolution for linux, it won't run well.

I played like trash in some areas but this is the general idea of how strong SOR1 Blaze can be, even found new tech fir myself during later bosses lol.

Nice. That's how Blaze always was in the originals too. Decent damage per hit + high speed = ripping through lifebars. She had to work a little harder to open people up compared to others though, and didn't have Max's cheese splash damage tricks, so it worked out IMO. :)

I dug up my old drive and found an old edit of mine kinda similar, but mine is for Defense Special though. Because it has crowd control trait where you can hit enemy both front and back.

I used it for my 3 Stars Blitz (All of my edits is BK3/SOR3 mechanic. See below for the move concept) so maybe it's fine if you used it for Blaze Offense Special because it serve for different purpose.

And I used Hakki Shou for her Offense Special and Chou Reppa Dan for her blitz. See the video below in action for SOR2 Rom Hack. And no, I will never release the rom hack, It was only for a test.
Sorry for the quality. Turns out my crappy notebook can't handle it after all.
The one handed energy wave from your rom Hack would be nice for SOR 1 Blaze's forward special. I played a lot sor 1 boss (Orhiem srry for the wrong spelling) in rebellion mode and found that Foward special worked more like a defensive special. So it pretty tricky adding the sweeping forward special into blaze's combos longer combos since they lunch enemies into the air.

The King of Fighters Yuri energy wave looks really cool. That push wave got me thinking that could be a really nice auto combo ender or a grab ender. It's Too bad animation is a little too long or awarded for a grab ender. My suggestions may not fit with Kratus SOR 1 Blaze.

I love how the last animation morphs from Blaze having classic bra look to newer jacketed look, As she flips around. That's a really cool idea building off her current move set.

If you and Kratus do add this move or more energy wave moves for Blaze. Consider adding a this blue light effect to the pallet similar to the Blaze 3. Of course, it can be more subtle if it saves you time but any effort adding this effect will bring TONS of life into the Blaze sprits.

At the end it's up to you if you want to add those flourishes.

If SOR 1 Blaze is still Playable by tomorrow. I'll give her a try.

She's seemingly high-risk/high-reward as she can chain into air special so easily and even turn a vulnerable situation into pure offense (the flip kick for example, the AI can annoyingly position themselves where you're going to land but since you can cancel into air special, you'll hit them on the way down and if they're standing, you can cancel this into her slam) but the damage is just a little too out there, with one good balance decision I guess is that her blitz has no invincibility, her only reversal is neutral special.

Sidenote for @Kratus her jump attack animation is missing her gloves.
